I have never seen the bottom side of one of those. Before I read the description I was sure you had taken a picture of an alien.

Aliens aside, the contrast in the photo is great. The background colours really make the ray its self stand out and the composition is perfect.
 
A cold, rainy and dreary day means it is time to take another picture of my late grandfather's handiwork. This time I'm showing off work he'd do using pieces of natural wood as the base for the creation. These use walnut shell as the basis.
