I agree about that portrait. It wasn't the greatest but I loved the pose. : ) Anyways I humbly submit a better piece today for your viewing.. enjoyment :D=

Hey, thanks! It's very nice of you. :)

TheSVD: The Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM is not a very expensive lens. It's a jewel of a lens, and costs around $700.00 (±a few dollars).

Not pretty as the photo of the young lady above...

Just different (I know, I know. We all prefer to look at the other photo) :D:D

Well, that made my day!

Except that the background is too distracting to those who actually care about composition. ;)
Justin Beck try another location or move her more away from the road so you can fill the background with all green.

I guess we define "viewing enjoyment" differently. :D

No doubt we do, but why stroke a man's ego by ignoring the obvious when he's trying to learn a craft?

Sundown boats redux...

I posted a similar shot several months back, and at the time I didn't really like this one as much... but thought I'd revisit this wider shot. I find I'm liking it in a different way--it's shot at 80mm compared to 120mm for the original-- which gives it more of a sense of place.

Hey everyone! Some great photos in here as usual. I have been away, but I am back! Hope to be posting regularly.

I just took this photo for a friend today and I want to print it and frame it as a gift. However, before I do I wanted to know what I should adjust as I am pretty new to this. The last time I took a photo to the printers it came out a lot darker than what I saw on my computer (most likely due to the calibration of my monitor, but any help would be great).
I don't like having the subject in the middle, but I am not sure how this will turn out in a frame. Should I crop it more? Thanks!

Sincerely, the adjustments should have been made before you pressed the shutter. The pic is fine, and will no doubt look good in a frame, but no PP adjustments - or cropping - will get rid of the 'busy' background of window, wall and flowers. I'd suggest a reshoot - taking a bit more time (or maybe a lot more time ;)) - over the composition. This, to me, is more of a snapshot; I'm sure you can get something that really deserves a frame around it... :)

Thanks, always appreciate constructive criticism from you Doylem. The thing about the flowers is that the mom wanted them to show in the background. I guess it was more of q snapshot event, just a get together. I hadn't intended on framing any of these, but really liked it and thought they might as well as a gift just like that.
I will ask a few friends to be 'models' and try to work on my composition and do a shoot.
Just looking to see if the colors and tones were bearable. Thanks again!

Wagon Master - Mt. Charleston, Nevada

A natural for the job... operates a two-horse tourist wagon on Mt. Charleston, about 20 miles from Las Vegas. Mt. Charleston peaks at over 11,000 feet.

Today's. Tomorrow I have some nature to submit from a hike. My wife really likes this one though. The lighting was really good that day and I filled my 4gb card with Raw, this is from the raw. I didn't do hardly any post to it. I dig the perspective in it.
