This was Wednesday's young driver test? I was there, great day for the price. I don't have a large enough zoom lens for a close up shot like yours though.

Did you do the pit walk too?

Yeah it was the Wednesday YDT. It was a pretty good day, first time at Silverstone and F1 for me, was slightly disappointed that I was unable to get to parts of the track such as the Becketts complex, Stowe and Vale but it's an excuse to come back next year! Your's is a very good picture to say you don't have a large zoom lens!

I didn't stay for the pit walk, in all honesty i cleared off around 1pm as I was pretty much restricted to Luffield and Woodcote.

Black Days / White Nights

I've wanted to do this shoot for close to 6 months but needed better weather, I did a similar shot called I <3 NY < LA (here)
as a test on whether it'd work, but I wanted more juxtaposition between shots as well as a link with the backgrounds and subject,
this is the result.

Well executed Schtumple, looks like album cover material. How are you finding the 6D?

Nothing thoughtful from me this time, just playing with the ISO of the 6D handheld. This shot was taken in very low light conditions, all the light is actually behind my cat and this is taken at ISO 25,600, with less noise than the 60D produced at ISO 1600! That's mad...

Will go for a stroll in the city tomorrow and return with something more civilised to share.

Thanks man, I was thinking about having it as an album cover, but I have no projects that it fits right now, maybe in the future.

The 6d is hands down the best DSLR I've used to date, I prefer it to the 5d MKII, but the button layout doesn't make a lot of sense ergonomically, especially if you're coming off a 60d which has perfect placement for everything you use frequently.

I try not to get caught up in the chase for the latest and greatest in technological improvements but it is hard not to be seriously impressed with camera advancements - especially the capabilities of the current full frame line-up. Or, maybe I am just an "old coot" as my wife calls me.

Congrats John and have fun!

Mine for today is an Eastern Bluebird:

Just got back from a trip to NYC. Will post a few pics over the next couple of days.

Lower Manhattan. The sun is reflecting off the new "freedom tower."

Second time there for me. I went to the GP two years ago. Yeah it was a shame Becketts wasn't open. Watching them into Copse is simply amazing though. I managed to sneak inside that corner for a bit, until I was hastily asked to go away.

The pit lane access was pretty cool. Nice to see the engineers working.

As for the image, crop to zoom :).

Another couple of hours learning what to do. I would have been happier if the background was a little more out of focus. Also does it look a little bit over exposed or was it just because of the sun? Anyway it's a little park in Kidderminster for those of you that know the West Midlands.
