it's really weird seeing that picture, i used to go to cantigny alot when i was younger, i loved the museum section running through the trenches :D

do you live near the chicagoland area?

Being a massive fan of both the Lakes and Photography I wondered if you had ever thought of having a website with your pictures catalogued into the different areas. It would be a fantastic tool for anyone wishing to visit the Lakes and give them an insight as to where to go and what to see.

Thanks... I have exactly that... with pix grouped according to different areas. Now all I have to do is keep it up to date...

Great sky, but the blue looks a sort of Pantone blue, not a real sky blue. Just IMO...

It doesn't have to be original if it's done well (hell, hasn't just about everything been done already?). This is one furry bee!

Tried for another post-sunset shot last night, but the 'light show' didn't happen...

Thanks... I think.
I did use a cooling filter, but the intensity of blue is pretty accurate for the time of day it was shot. I also shoot in aRGB mode which may explain some differences in appearance from my machine to others. I have noticed that some of your greener shots look a little acidic on my Mac but look great when viewed on a PC.

Just one question: which Pantone blue were you thinking of? ;)

Fair enough... it might be displaying differently on my computer.

When printers print postcards here in the Lake District, they always seem to crank up the sky to the same deep blue (dunno which blue it is on the chart ;)), maybe to convince visitors that this is what the weather's really like, though the Lake District is wetter than just about anywhere in the country.

The very rich blue in your pic doesn't look quite right to me. Now, I don't want to start an argument, 'cos I seem to have upset plenty of people on this forum already. It's just my opinion. :)

On second thoughts, I'm wondering if a simple grey grad might be better for keeping cloud detail, and bringing down the exposure values of the sky. I'm not even sure what a 'cooling filter' is. A blue grad??

Yeah - it is a colored ND grad filter with a hint of blue (cool) color. It does the same thing a gray graduated filter will do but adds some color back to the sky.

BTW - I appreciate the comments. It means someone actual looked and had a reaction to one of my shots; better than indifferent.

Just a lil somethin' I took when I went hot air ballooning in Luxor, Egypt over the valley of the kings.

Yes. I was there last about 30 years ago, I remember running through that WWI trench.

It's a whole new large building now (1994) and there's a lot of cool stuff following the 1st through the different wars. Lots of tanks too. Waaay cool... will post more pics when I get home... :)
