Ran it through Photomatix Pro. Something different.

Interesting experiment, but I think you over did it a bit. ;)

Rather than use TIMG, you could have used IMG on your ferrari_garage_hdr_smallest.jpg image and it would have shown up as a nice size in browsers rather than a thumbnail.

Did you add the two faces in the rear red back panels? Do you even see them? They look like some kind of weird reflections, or some ghosts are having fun.

Thanks for the feedback. It was exactly that, an experiment. If you click on the image, it will load a larger sized image (if you didn't try already).

The "ghosts" in the red panels are actually the reflections from the cars in the garage. Those F1 garages are kept spotless and everything is clean and polished. If you look in the right panel, you can make out the side pod of Massa's car (right) as well as the red rope going across to keep us fans out.

Attaching the original below (full size this time - :) ).

Lone Hitchhiker

Upon Critique from a MR photo contest, I have cropped my photo to get below. What do you think? Does it convey a feeling of loneliness?

Loneliness isn't the first mood that would come to mind. The person is standing there by himself but is obviously engaged with another individual, as he gestures to that person in an effort to get a ride. He looks needy and a bit frustrated, but not necessarily lonely.

As for the photo's pictorial qualities: remember that the eye tends to follow light, and here the light is almost entirely in the background, drawing our attention away from the subject. The subject's outstretched arm also directs us to the lit area behind him, and the background is quite busy, which doesn't help. The conditions of this scene were really conspiring against you here.

Thanks for the input. I will take light more into consideration next time. :) I am pondering whether I should sign up for some photography classes, but I don't really want to spend that kind of money... is there a book that is worth a couple classes worth of info and help for those willing to read and learn?

Really clever. I like this a lot, but the mis matched DOF kind of throws it off a little.

That's always been an issue when I do these shots, it's generally because of focussing so much closer on the frame, it was far too dark to have the shot on a lower f stop, one day I'll get it perfect, but I still love the effect and idea.

Here's another that I did that's much more subtle by painting in photoshop:

Painting to Reality Framed

Mm.. wow, you were lucky you could actually see the tree and not hit yourself on the head with it. That's some serious fog, where's that?

Yeah, it was pretty foggy that morning... it's in the middle of a horse pasture in Pennsylvania.

Glen Canyon on the Colorado River

Water seeps from rocks on the Colorado.

Thats understandable. Like i said thats a clever idea, and I do really like it. Im still learning myself, and Im not sure i'd be able to match the DOF any better myself. Just wanted to offer up the comment in case you didnt see it.

Mine for today...

Sunset on English Bay... and the Kitsilano Yacht Club Jetty... this is shot from the Boathouse Restaurant on Kitts beach with my 70-300 L at 300mm... and I didn't notice at the time, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a Heron under the dock in this pic. :)

Re: The Devil's Paintbrush makes its seasonal return. Go Canucks !

Devil and Canucks fit well in the same heading! Despite the reference to hockey, this is a peaceful picture. I like it, even though I'm a die hard New Englander!:D

Nice job.

(Loving The Reef's IMG converter!!!)

I forgot to post one yesterday. Oh well... Here's one from the local farmer's market this past Friday.

Scented Beads by Gerg1967, on Flickr

I like this one. My only gripe (and it is a very small one) is that the jar in the bottom left is slightly distracting to me. Other than that, its simplicity and use of DOF really appeals to me.

This is a storm in the distance.

The TIMG plug-in that TheReef developed is awesome! Thank you!
