The London air ambulance landed on Wandsworth Common last weekend, to transfer a patient to an ambulance. It's weird seeing a helicopter land among the dog-walkers.

This morning I ran in the Miles-4-Smiles 5k to benefit children with cancer. I came in 2nd in the men's 40-49 age group with a 24:50 time. That happens to be a personal best for that distance for me, too.

I wanted to get a shot like this at the start, but since I couldn't carry my 60D and run, I wasn't able to do it. I took this one during the the awards ceremony after the race.

Congratulations on your run and this beautifull shot for such a good cause. :)

Here's one I snapped while crossing the street on Broadway in NYC last weekend... happened to be in the right place at the right time!

Beta testing TheReef's brilliant new imaging quoting script for Safari. It works!! :)

OK, I know they say beggars can't be choosers, but I generally use Firefox, Reef! [insert puppy dog eyes here] :p

Oh, and very nice photo, svenhoops. Having a bit of shadow detail would make me like it even more, but there's a lot to be said for a nice composition and great timing.

I actually think that looks *fantastic*. Really. Good work!

Thanks. I really appreciate it.

I finally got just about all of my photos from Vacation edited, tagged, and uploaded. This is one of my favorites from the whole trip. It was the sunrise as we were pulling into Cozumel, Mexico.

Going through a bunch of unprocessed shots taken during the period of my recent MacRumors hiatus (just really busy). This one will look familiar to some of the regulars who saw its predecessor in February. The response I got from that one encouraged me to try some different moods with a similar composition. Before returning to the site, I complained to the campus maintenance department that the light at the apex of the tower had burned out. I returned less than a week after filing that complaint and was thrilled to see the topmost lantern burning brightly as it should do.

Really clever. I like this a lot, but the mis matched DOF kind of throws it off a little.

Wow! this is stunning. Was it the lengthy exposure that made the clouds appear that way?

Mine for today is a shot I re-edited for the Weekly contest thread.

Please click though to see in lightbox. Much better view, IMO.

Power was knocked out from a storm this afternoon. I found the cause and got a shot of it. I think the sign should point the other way so trees will fall away from the power lines.

The quote was done testing a Safari extension developed by TheReef, so I thought I would keep everything "Down Under".

Thanks for trying it out :)
I'll start a thread in a day or two so everyone can try it out.
Firefox version is to come.

Very nice otter! Great colours and light.
I like the sharp nicely lit edges of the pool against the blurred water.

Wonderful balance of light, such soothing colours and tones, well done!

Wow! I've been away from this forum and this thread for awhile, and I've missed some stunners. The last couple of weeks have produced no end of awesome photos.

This pic was inspired by member Juanbond who put me onto Kerry Park to shoot this pic, and while it's no comparison (as I was there a tad late in the evening for ideal light) it's still a fantastic city skyline. Mt. Rainier is barely visible in the background on the right.

I've barely taken a pic in six months, and I've definitely lost the 'fluency'. I'm even having to think about what to do... and that's always a bad sign. :(

Yeah, tell me about it. Six months ago my cameras were like extensions of my own self, but now I pick one up and feel like a teenager with his first girlfriend.

Speaking generally, I really think you need a rest sometimes. I know when it's a major interest though, it leaves a hole and can leave you feeling at a loose end. I like to have a few things so that when I need a break from one there's something else that I enjoy doing. And welcome back Phrasikleia!

I like this photo. Great colours and framing. Another test and thumbs up for Reef's auto-timger. Very easy to use. Many thanks Reef and well done! Much appreciated.

Thanks, NeGrit0. I suppose you're referring to the motion blur of the upper, dark clouds. Yes, that cloud layer was swirling around during the 30-second exposure, while the rest of the scene was relatively static.

Thanks, Ish. Yeah, in my case that hole is more of a yawning chasm. If I spend too much time away from photography, I start to twitch like Chief Inspector Dreyfus in the Pink Panther series.

Ran it through Photomatix Pro. Something different.

While not a photo taken any time recently it is a freshly edited photo. I thought I'd try my hand at adding some colour to an originally black and white photo.

I enjoyed the process and it didn't take too long, then again this was with a really simple image, so actually colouring a more detailed image would be much harder. The colour was, of course, done in photoshop, so undo was my friend.
