Damn, I was hoping they would do something like this. Sign me up if that is a color choice. I was going to get the White/Silver but now...it's going to be White/Slate if that's an option.

Of course hipsters are going to love the graphite color...as is evidence by all the post replys before and after this one.

Just please...stop.

Hipster does not now, nor did it ever, mean "someone who likes a thing that exists."

I'm getting tired of seeing this word posted on every freaking news story on the internet, no matter what site I'm on.

I was on the fence as to get white, black or gold. Now with the grey all doubts are gone. I am now on a mission to get the grey one.

Now these leaks are getting to be to much. I like to know whats up but is anything still a secret any more? Just start selling them already. There's nothing left to reveal on the 10th.

I agree. Following these rumours used to be fun - trying to work out what may or may not be released, what it might look like etc. But these days the leaks are really taking the fun out of it. They're too leaky!

Two thoughts come to mind:

1. If you use a case or cover, then color doesn't matter

2. This is a sign that the smartphone battles are no longer about technology or functionality, but about fashion.

The second point bodes ill for Apple's revenue growth in this sector. The short term looks good if the iPhone 5c enables significant market share in China. But, once the lower cost (read: lower margin as well) market is penetrated, then it's going to be all about how fast they can get people to replace their previous equipment. And with the Megapixel/MB/MHz stats basically plateauing, people will likely keep their phones longer despite the push by carriers into "new device every year" plans.

Everything I've read about the iPhone 5s/c looks good, and I'll definitely be upgrading from my iPhone 4 when the 5s is available. But, it my sense is that Apple needs to open up a new revenue stream soon or step out of the growth lane and into the blue chip dividend lane, and for that they'll need a more stable and less fickle revenue stream.

I like the graphite a lot. May consider it if continued for the 6.

I'm definitely getting my 5S in the graphite color.

Too bad I'll never see it because it'll be wrapped up in a 2-inch thick Nerf case anyway (toddler in the house).

I agree. Most cases cover the whole back and the sides, leaving only the screen and top/bottom bezel exposed. Neither the color or the material would matter for those users. Unless people want to risk of damaging their phone in order to show off it's colors.

Zagg style Shields or clear cases allow you to show off your phone and minimize the chance of damage.

I carried my 4S around with just Zagg Invisible Shields on the front and back for a long time. No damage, just a few minor scratches near the dock connector.

Even within an opaque case, people still care about the color of their device.

Graphite looks cool. When I get the 5S though I'm definitely going to keep it for at least two years.

Now here's my presumption. What if Apple only launches the iPhone 5S in two colours? Probably graphite and champagne are the only two colours available for the iPhone 5S. And the two new colours are there to replace the slate and silver tones in the iPhone 5. Does that make sense?

Still like the slate color the most but can't take the scuffs so I will go with the Champagne. I've always had black but will change it up this year...

This are the right colors for a premium product. And the more colorful ones for the 5C. Its a brilliant lineup and strategy.

I tend to agree. Even if they aren't colors I'd choose, this leak, if true, helps form a more complete picture of the direction Apple is going.

Interesting.

I'm sticking with the monolith look.

I love the look of these new iPhones but I'm worried that all they shown so far is new colors and the fingerprint sensor. Is that really all there's going to be? Everything else seems like just the normal state of upgrades. Better processors and better cameras. I'm looking for something at least makes me want to buy a new phone and the fingerprint sensor isn't it. Also, why no leaks of new sizes? I don't think it is wise for Apple to deny that a certain segment of people want larger phones, just like they acknowledged the need for the smaller iPad.

Nothing I have seen so far makes me want to buy a new phone or iPad and I have bought the most expensive version of every non-computer device they have offered since the iPhone 1.

There have been leaks about the testing of new phone sizes but that will not debut until iPhone 6 at least.

They are not going to make a larger screen phone in this form factor.

I've been using vinyl wraps to give that same effect since the iPhone 5 was released. If that's a real combo I'll definitely go with it

I have a clear silicon case that shows off the silver/white.

Why would they stop making silver and slate?

Sure it's been asked but I'm on my phone so can't really do a search (that I know of anyway). Is the US considered the first wave still and can I just pay full price for the phone to avoid a contract with AT&T?

Like what, green? Purple? Those colors are associated with inferior products across the industry. Sony and HP high end stuff comes in black, silver and white just like Apple. People associate those colors with being modern and powerful. It's marketing and clearly, it works. ;)

The "5c" will most likely come in an array of colors, like the iPod Nano's always have.

Not quite always, iPod nano 1st gen. came in black or white, matching the iPod with video.

But since then, yep- sometimes pastel, sometimes deep color.

Looks good, just wish it had a larger screen. Betting the camera is going to be the biggest upgrade.
