This has to be a supply chain nightmare for someone at Apple. When there was just one iPhone, they just had to worry about populating places with enough of them. Then when there were white and black, they had to keep track of which color was selling faster than the other. Now someone's going to be pulling their hair out... both the supply chain manager and the customer that wanted the one color that the store doesn't have.

I like the color choices though. I think they all play well with each other and on the higher priced phone while the bright colors play well with each other on the lower priced phone. I imagine they will come out of this looking really smart in their recent iPhone decisions.

I think for the champagne and graphite colorway, customers have to apply online - this will let apple/foxconn to anodize those parts based on quantity of the order. That should solve the supply chain issue.

Basically, Apple wants to eat up the lucrative market of http://www.anostyle.com/

I was on the fence as to get white, black or gold. Now with the grey all doubts are gone. I am now on a mission to get the grey one.

Me too! Looks good in the pics, and hopefully even better up close..

I have a clear silicon case that shows off the silver/white.

Why would they stop making silver and slate?

Just because they would only keep two colours in the iPhone 5S. I mean, this is their high end product. They tend to keep it professional, not like the chromatic iPhone 5C, which is for mid-level markets.

It makes sense, two with black trim and two with white.

Can anyone determine any changes to the home button based on the photo?
I am not knowledgeable enough to determine such a thing.
I saw a champagne trim for the champagne color iPhone. It may be the same for the graphite one also.

Graphite seems pretty close to slate. I'd take the champagne, thank you very much.

I think the iPhone lineup is going to be pretty damn strong after these products are out! (of course the haters are gona hate on the 4" screen)

Fake

This is the biggest load of BS from a gossip loving child. The photos of the back are a photoshopped version of black and slate, having toned down the slate to make it (as well as the apple and iPhone prints) look grey. The other pics are of an iPhone 4! Look at the screen bulging from the frame that looks very familiar!

Come on MacRumors, this is garbage. Total garbage.

Yes I always thought there would be one more new color besides champagne/gold. I see these as different color options, not Apple pandering to China and India with a gold phone. The metallic phones will be the higher-end 5S and the colored plastic will be the less expensive 5C.

Exactly. Interested to see all 4 colors in a line.

Now these leaks are getting to be to much. I like to know whats up but is anything still a secret any more? Just start selling them already. There's nothing left to reveal on the 10th.

normal consumers don't visit rumor websites. if you want to be surprised, don't check this site, problem solved.

Why do people think Apple will get rid of the slate and silver models? The 4th and 5th gen Nano's came in lots of colors. I think Apple can handle 4 colors just fine.

Great point.

iPod mini came in 4 colors.

1st gen nano's only came in black and white.

But the 2nd through 7th gen iPod nano's have come in multiple color options.

Supply chain is Tim Cook's specialty and he knows how to handle it. I'm sure they have it all worked out. They can ship iPod nano's in multiple colors for the last 6 generations of them so I think they have a handle on it.

At first I thought the graphite iPhone reminds me of the very first iPhone.

Then I thought, it also looks like a black and white iPhone had a baby (isn't that the color of the back of a white iphone, with black parts?)

Then I thought, that backplate probably just hasn't gone through the anondization process.

Nothing I have seen so far makes me want to buy a new phone or iPad and I have bought the most expensive version of every non-computer device they have offered since the iPhone 1.

apple doesn't design annual updates to convince you to upgrade annually. normal people don't do that, only phone geeks like us do. normal people are on two year cycles and he phone undergoes quite a bit in two years time.

do you upgrade your home receiver annually when they refresh it? notebook? etc...

So two of the new 5s version will look obviously different?

Apple still trying to tempt the buyer that values being seen with the latest model?

Black/slate is virtually indistinguishable from other black phones from a distance and I'm imagining that rectifying this was part of Mr. Ive's brief (either handed down to him from the board or handed down from him to his industrial designers).

that isn't how boards work. they aren't involved in operations and certainly don't dictate product design to top level management. the CEO does. the CEO can be replaced by the board.

All I really want to know is whether the UI colors adapt to the bezel depending on it's color, because the current color scheme looks out of place on a black bezel.

Like what, green? Purple? Those colors are associated with inferior products across the industry. Sony and HP high end stuff comes in black, silver and white just like Apple.

Last time I checked, this was their flagship phone. I'd rather associate dark blue plastics and a faux-brushed metal look with an inferior product.

Well I can't do that. :D:D

Just leaving very little up to the imagination with all these leaks. I mean it's never been this bad in prior years. Short of the actual finger print scanner/home button we've seen it all.

Must be pretty easy to slide a back case of a phone in your pocket and walk out of Foxconn.

I think we need a poll: Which one do you want?

-White
-Black
-Champagne (if anyone votes for this one I'll find you and kill you)
-Graphite

I think graphite is an awesome option! Go Apple! Burn if you release champagne anywhere else than China.

:D
