Am I the only one who finds the champaign-colored one a little too much on the bling side? That thing just screams 'kitsch' to me, I can't believe Jony Ive could stomach that.

thank god they decided to put black strips, the white strips look really ugly on the gold iphone. will surely think about this one.

These new colors are nice, but a sad state of affairs for Apple if they think innovation is 2 new colors.

whoever on earth said that? color options are color options. this is the second year of their tick-tock design cycle, I'm not expecting major changes other than camera, processor, storage...

Yep, looks like this. Still shows off the design and color but also provides some protection.

What brand case is this and how long have you had it?
Have you noticed it yellowing after a while as most do?

Just leaving very little up to the imagination with all these leaks. I mean it's never been this bad in prior years. Short of the actual finger print scanner/home button we've seen it all.

yes, because leaving the complete, final, working prototype in a bar and covered by mainstream media left all kinds of things to the imagination...

Makes Complete Sense!

Whoo! First time poster, long time reader.

So, let's think with our American "consumer" brains for a second here.

You see a new iPhone from let's say your iPhone 4 or 4s (because if you have a 5, you're only upgrading because your rich or you have to have the latest and greatest).

Gee, that iPhone 5c is new and has all of these color options AND IT'S FREE ON CONTRACT? Wait, there's also a new iPhone 5s and it costs me money and looks the exact same as the old model?

Most normal consumers\purchasers of the iPhone don't care much about internal specs, but rather having the latest and greatest phone (or it costing nothing or next to nothing to them out of pocket). It would look pretty poor to have the same two colors for the 5s next to the rainbow of colors of the 5c.

I think that this is a real smart move on Apple's part and I absolutely agree wit the people stating that the iPhone 5s line are premium metal colors versus the plastic rainbow.

Also, the "graphite" color is a throwback to the original iPhone:

As a purchaser of the original unsubsidized iPhone, this is a day one purchase for me.

Hell yes-- that's the exact color combo that I want.

Now, what if--- this replaces the black model due to the chipping/scratching issues?

That makes no sense at all. The color doesn't matter. If it is anodized, that anodization can / will chip and scratch. It is simply the way it is. Not Apple's fault. Anodized aluminum scratches. The charcoal color will chip off just like the black color will.

I've had it 9-10 months. Haven't noticed any yellowing yet. Unfortunately can't remember the brand....maybe Rocketfish? I had another silicon one that wasn't gel and was more frosted than clear and that one did yellow and get dirty pretty easily.

Maybe we should wait for the "one more thing" before we conclude that that's going to be it. Apple know people are desperate for something new and exciting so let's give them a chance and play the waiting game before we condemn them. It might be the next 4, or it could be another 4s.

when is the last time we heard 1 more thing at an iphone event?

Ya that was a bad leak as well I'll give you that.

But you have to admit that this year has been the worse so far with the leak of all the 5C colors and now the 2 new 5S colors. And its probably going to be worse in following years.

And you know for a fact the new colors are anodised do you? No I didn't think so.

What iPhone or iPad do you have right now? If you have a 4S or anything older, then this would be plenty of reason for most people to upgrade. If you have the 5, you're right, not a lot of incentive to upgrade (though some people will). Also, most people with an iPhone 5 can't upgrade to the 5S anyway because of their carrier contracts. Just as the 3G and the 4S showed, the incremental processor, camera, and feature upgrades keep a still-relevant design fresh for the group of people either looking to get their first iPhone or upgrade from an older one.

There is no new size for the iPhone because they just introduced a new screen size and aspect ration a year ago. Their goal this year is probably to unify the line of new products with the same size screen, as it was when the 4S and iPod touch were introduced 2 years ago. The developers of Apps have just caught up to the new aspect/size and Apple probably isn't inclined to introduce another one this year- because of Apps and supply chain costs/efficiencies.

The iPad mini screen size was more straight forward because the iPad apps could be used as-is, with minimal, if any changes by the developers.

I don't know, I didn't think the 5 was a notable upgrade over the 4S, and unless there are a lot of new features, the 5S won't be worth upgrading to either. If you don't live in an LTE area, all the 5 had over the 4S was a faster CPU and taller screen. The faster CPU is useless unless you play 3d games and the like, and the extra real estate isn't that useful (I have used one). Camera is the same. Features were the same. And form factor was really damn similar (especially with cases... Not that I use one)

3GS was a significant upgrade (despite the same design), and 4 was a huge upgrade too. Everything else seems too incremental.

I also don't see why they can't do a bigger screen with the same resolution. Sure density will be lower, but for the majority of us tha would be fine. Developers wouldn't have any issues then.

I have a lot of money in apple products and the ecosystem, but I'm bored of the phones. There aren't really any android phones I like either.

I wonder if Graphite and Gold will only be available for higher capacities at a higher price point? (Sort of like the Black Macbook back in the day).

Didn't you still have to pay a premium for the Black even after the upgrade? I remember wanting black but not being willing to pay for it. Then I had a problem with the battery not being recognized and when I sent it in they asked if they could keep my macbook to run more tests. I told them it was fine if they sent me back a black one...and they did.

When you expect to sell 60+ million of a product, it is okay if not every color seems fantastic for each person. I think it is a decent color. I'm surprised they haven't offered more colors before. I would never get it for me. I will probably get the Slate color as that seems a little better than the black and will differentiate the phone a bit from what I currently have.

The best solution for Apple

Create a matte white iPhone and then sell a $50 box of iCrayons so you can color it any way you like.

I would prefer a black & silver iPhone. Basically the same silver colour the the white iPhone 5 has.
