needs to be thinner IMO.

don't need a 100% or even 50% added battery life. Just give me 20% extra to get through the day.

I'm really not sure about this whole wireless charging thing. It's super slow, inefficient and heats up a device already prone to overheating. It also takes up space inside the device. Other than looks, what's the reason we can't just have two pogo pins on the back of the device? The thing aligns itself magnetically anyway.

Since induction is so inefficient this have to be thicker to get the same change transfer. But I guess somehow it’s “good for the environment”.

Let's understand what this is: it is a MagSafe Charger that, when needed, you can take with you to charge on the go. It is not an add-on, semi-permanent, battery.
I believe, and would love to see pictures, that this can be used as your standard overnight charging puck. But it also doubles as a separate battery pack, like the ones you buy at airports, or that come with your luggage and you always forget to charge the night before you have to fly.
This is a Battery Pack that is always charged, if you use it as your main MagSafe Charger, and you just pick it up on the way out.
That's what YOU say it is. In my mind and in the minds of MANY, this battery puck is still a money grab made from intentional money-grabbing design of the poor battery capacity/tech of iPhone.

Holy cow! Apple should just make the phone a little thicker and put more battery in it, instead of selling a product that makes the phone look like a pregnant whale.
I've said that for many years now. I don't need, nor want, a paper thin iPhone with a tiny battery. I want a thicker iPhone with a much bigger battery. But we all know Apple doesn't care what we want. They can make way more money off of us by creating devices that require extras and accessories.

Apple's new MagSafe Battery Pack will begin arriving to customers around the world this week, and one lucky person has already snagged one.

As far as I know, iphones are designed to have battery life that would last at least a whole day with regular use (I wouldn't consider watching tiktok for 5 hours a regular use). Personally, my iphone lasts all day and I only charge it overnight. I see this battery pack as something to throw into your bag when you go camping or something. not a pack to support your daily usage.

A battery built-in to a case, no problem. A battery attached that’s thick like that in one specific area connected with MagSafe and only charges at 5W unless you plug in a lightning cable which removes all portability. No thank you.
Ok but what if I don’t want to keep a case on my phone that’s ruining its battery health constantly?
And what if I don’t need the extra battery most of the time?
What if I’m, say, Taking a two day hiking trip, and I know that I won’t have much Time to do a lot of charging, but I don’t need my phone blasted to 100% constantly?
That’s when I just slap on the battery pack, and it just keeps my phone juiced. I don’t need it heating up in my pocket, charging to 100% in 20 minutes or whatever. I just need it to be juiced, and that’s it

Why do I like it.
May be the white iPhone4s fan in me feels happy seeing this.

Such negativity from people who clearly don’t need a powerbank.

it’s not something to sit on your phone 24/7. It’s just useful to have in a bag when you’re low on battery and aren’t near a power socket.

Invaluable if you’re a frequent flier who spends their time in airports and watching flights be delayed.
