You also see the simcard holder in this picture - is that a "normal" sized one from 4/4s - or is that even smaller?

why is everyone so desperate of the new iphone being ugly, low battery capacity, wrong side of the headphone jack, you're not forced to buy one if you don't like it!!! or, are you all here apple employees??

So confirmed 1434Mah battery for iphone 5

and 1432mah for iphone 4s....

unless my math is wrong.

its amazing how there are so many iPhone 5 leaks and no iPad mini leaks... makes you think

The iPhone 5 will probably require more power anyway, so the battery life probably won't even increase.

Yet again people go off on wild assumptions based on minimal information.

Relax everyone, it'll be fine. You'll get an iPhone 5 and in 2 years we'll be having the same conversation all over again.

I'd still like to believe that big rectangular hole top left is for that fingerprint sensor. And that it is to be used in conjunction with NFC for payments.

If those 2 features are onboard I think this would be the kind of paradigm shift that Apple are known for mastering.

Not to overblow their influence but I really think it will take someone like Apple totally nailing it to make cashless payments using devices ubiquitous.

Think about people's (particularly round here) initial reaction to the iPad. "Hahaha! RIDICULOUS! It's a giant iPhone but WITHOUT THE PHONE!!"

3 years later Apple have an extra megaskillion $ in the bank...

People will initially scream "I DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR GOODS WITH MY PHONE!! SECURITY!! BECAUSE REASONS!!"

And then realise it's a secure, convenient, simple wonder of technology & emergent social economic evolution...

Oh yeah - on topic. Batteries.
I imagine the battery will be used to power the phone.
It will have a similar charge life to the current phone even though it powers a bigger screen & does a bit more.

Sound about reasonable?

Really?!? Who uses fingerprint scanners anyway?

I've worked for small medium, large and multinational companies and governments in many different countries and none have used this.

Fingerprint scanners on a phone - meh. I can't see why. ;)

As a rapid, unique security measure for NFC cash payments.

Kind of what I said in the post which you appear to have ignored. Not to worry...

The difference in the text reminds me of fake products you buy off eBay - anyone notice it?

I've been looking forward to a new iMac for so long but now I'm more excited about what iPhone Apple might release next week.

Never thought I would say this.. but im going to Samsung Galaxy S3.

This phone and OS is a joke now- its THE SAME SHT FOR HOW MANY YEARS NOW?!?!

There is too much evidence that THIS is the phone we are getting.. there will be no big surprise, every year we have high hopes, every year we are let down.

Along with apples recent behavior of suing everything that moves.... im rooting for someone else now to win with my wallet.

Good riddance and good luck. So tired of the whiners. Don't like it, don't buy it. Apple won't miss you one bit. iOs ecosystem is still the best there is.

It kind of bothers me that Apple hasn't really nailed battery life over the last few years, nor have they really tried to improve it.

Of course the obsession with thin and sleek probably have/had something to do with it. Still, I'd much rather have a phone that is 2mm thicker for a longer lasting battery.

Of course you can always buy one of the million portable iPhone/iPod/iPad chargers out there.

Not everyone... just a few poor slobs here that have nothing else in their lives to concern themselves with until prom time rolls around again. The iPhone 5 will be a nice upgrade for iPhone 4 and 3GS users.

Battery capacity will be on par with the 4S, over all weight looks to be slightly less, headphone jack on bottom really non-issue b/c the iPhone 5 will rotate 360 degrees like the iPad. Back panel doesn't look all that great in pics, but lets be honest, only a tiny minority of consumers use their phone naked. The first accessory people buy is a case, so again non-issue. And bottom line, for most productive people a phone is a tool, not a fashion accessory. When is the last time you were at Home Depot and overheard a carpenter say he's not buying a top of the line drill because it's red!

It kind of bothers me that Apple hasn't really nailed battery life over the last few years, nor have they really tried to improve it.

Nonsense. Of course they've tried. It's why they got rid of the hard user replaceable cases so they could make room for more juice. Battery science is a tough nut to crack. Every battery and electronics company in the world is trying to make better batteries. But you can't just click your heels three times and wish for it. Laws of physics and chemistry are at work.

Sure, it's as secure as our UDIDs seem to be. (Not that UDIDs are really of use to anyone, but 3rd parties obtained them...)

If battery for the iPhone 5 is similar to the one we have in the 4S and assuming the 5 will have LTE, then this means we're probably getting a more power-efficient LTE chip.

Does anyone know if we'll also see any performance improvement on 3G?

What I wouldn't give for apple to give up on its MOAR THIN rage. A same thickness iPhone 5 as the 4/4s with a larger battery = worth it.

Would love to know the origins of why they are so different, I'll have to google what the voltage/amperage differences are too, but I can't see why you'd need all the metal for a plug, seems a bit wasteful... and just bulky

Isn't it something like the top pin is just for safety? Its longer so when you plug it in the two bottom holes open up. But when I went to the US I found the plus too small and none of them would stay in securely. Might of just been my hotel room though...
