i am seriously hoping that the iphone 5 isnt just taller, bu also wider, not by much maybe just half a centimetre, the tall version just doesnt look right, its too long. like those android tablets, too long.
plus i hate the 16:9 screen ratio, maybe thats why.

enough of this BS already, we've all heard it a billion times.
Get out. and get an android. move on with your life. it will be a taller iPhone, take it or leave it.

I'm starting to hate the headphone jack on the bottom already. How is it going to work if you have it in a dock? Maybe there will be a new dock with a proper headphone jack (in addition to the line out one)?

Any dock worth a damn has a AUX line out for the headphone jack. The factory Apple one certainly does.

I fail to see how this explains anything. The phone still has a glass cover, with we know if 0.9 mm compared to last years 1.0 mm. And it still needs a back.

A phone needs a top, bottom, and sides. If the thickness was 9.3 mm, and is now 7.6 mm, with the same internal thickness battery, then the top and bottom got thinner. Period.

Where could they possibly have saved 1.7 mm? Becuase the screen only saved 0.1 mm and the back was only 1.0mm to start. So even WITHOUT A BACK, it's still not enough. My guess is in the digitizer.

Lol. Take apart your iPhone. You'll see what I mean. The internals are less thick than the metal band. So....the new phone is as thick as the 4 metal band. It's not hard to put 2 and 2 together.

The display on the 4 rests on top of the metal band. Add to that the glass rear, also resting on top of the metal band. The 5 no longer has a glass rear, therefore no glass resting on top of the metal band. And the new display rests flush with the metal band, rather than resting on top of it. So now the entire phone is just the metal band, with display and back cover flush with the metal band.

They might have saved a little room with the new in cell display tech, but the real magic lies in the way they designed and engineered the new unibody.

All they did was make it taller! It's the same 2 year old design! Nobody is going to buy an iPhone if the battery is just a little bit taller! The design is getting stale! Half an inch isn't enough! I want them to expand the size of the battery horizontally too! I need a bigger battery! The S3 has a bigger battery!

FFS just go buy the damn S3 and maybe then you'll understand why the iPhone is the way it is. It sure as hell made me appreciate my iPhone more after owning a S3 as well

I don't remember so much stuff being leaked about an unreleased product before, excluding the iPhone 4. Now we could practically have people building the device and turning it on.

I think it works better if you want to listen to music while it's in your pocket. Also, I don't see the need for the headphone jack to be open while it's docked. Anyway, this is a mockup of the adapter (image in the middle), which suggests that the headphone jack is either for stability or that the new Dock Connector doesn't actually have analog audio on it:

Why is the battery so much bigger, but the capacity is not increased by much? I half-believe that the rumored battery is not what is going into the final product.

You've seen it? All we "know" is that it will have a bigger screen. And even that we don't know for sure yet. You can justify it all you want, an opinion is an opinion.

I'm here for my love for Apple and not to argue, I'm over it. :apple:

He's seen all of the leaked parts. The iPhone will be improved in pretty much every way other than, as it seems, the battery. Those are facts or at least the most like-to-be-true facts we can get for now. The only "marginal change" is the external design, which is actually not that small of a change in my opinion.

all these leaks are ridiculous. If they're true they may have ruined what would have been another great iPhone keynote.

If the battery is the same charge and power... I don't see how anyone here thinks the iphone 5 will last as long as the 4.

Faster processor no matter how efficient, will run the battery down faster. a 1.5 hrz processor will always use more power than a .4 hrz processor.

The screen is bigger thus more light thus more power.

LTE... if it the was for 3g.. will drain the battery faster as well.

The iphone 5 will still be great compared to the competition, but we all have to be pretty oblivious to expect the same battery life as the iphone 4 with the same battery.

There is more urgency for case makers to make leaks happen, and a larger production ramp-up means it's easier for them to happen.

Why do case-makers need to know about batteries, among other internal parts?

Oh god

Just stop it

So if we don't like something we should shut up?

The keynotes sucked since Steve couldnt do them any longer

im really hoping this is the not the shape of iphone 5. because its just looking too long.

but this is mostly likely going to be it. i just hope it isn't awkward holding it in your hand.

My roommate will love it. He'll keep it in his front pocket when he goes to pick up chicks.

Never thought I would say this.. but im going to Samsung Galaxy S3.

This phone and OS is a joke now- its THE SAME SHT FOR HOW MANY YEARS NOW?!?!

There is too much evidence that THIS is the phone we are getting.. there will be no big surprise, every year we have high hopes, every year we are let down.

Along with apples recent behavior of suing everything that moves.... im rooting for someone else now to win with my wallet.

I would gladly take a thicker phone if it had a battery that lasted for 24 hours with moderate use.

Agreed. I think it'll come to a point where, if battery technology doesn't advance enough, that Apple will start sacrificing battery life even more for an unnecessarily thin phone. The 4/4S was thin enough IMO. How much thinner do they want it to be?

Thinness is overrated.

iPhone 3G to 3GS was marginal.

3G to 3GS was anything but marginal. The 3GS was so much quicker than the 3G.

Mechinyun you have balls for posting that kind of stuff on here lol.

Good luck with your S3! I love how people automatically label Apple's recent lawsuit with Samsung as a negative thing. If the roles were reversed, Samsung (or any other company with a legitimate case) would have done the same thing to Apple. Get over it!! If you don't like a product don't buy it!

Jobs was an amazing presenter! The keynotes aren't the same without him but I'd take an Apple keynote over any other tech company's product presentation.

I hope you're right and no one will buy it. That way I can walk right into the apple store and walk out with mine in a matter of minutes... I hope you're right, but I'm fairly certain you're wrong.

no seams and less holes after all?

Seeing the battery doesn't cover the bottom and top part, nor does the logic board: I am still hoping these leaks are from a prototype body with exact sizes, but details to confuse us. I hope for a final model with:

- no bands in the rim, one part (tube slice welded to backplate), all antenneas inside, under the back windows.
- bottom with nicer layout, no big holes and screws, speaker under glasswindow
- frontpanel also hole-less, with touch home button, and underglass speaker
- windows at back in matching colors of metal, maybe.

The question remains wether the metal body would be liquid metal (can rims of that size be produced?) with back of LM plate, or stainless plate. Or if composed of slice and plate of more traditional materials such as stainless, or titanium. Ofcourse all aluminium unibody machined from a slab (so no welding of backplate) is still an option, if the alloy is hard enough, maybe hardened after machining...

Leaking or letting leak an internal part fitting and externaly correct size product, with details modified on purpose: A bit like testing production cars with stickers and fake parts glued over it. The case industry gets what they need, while keeping the design more or less secret, and competitors completely in the dark, cause it all could be a hoax after all. A one time strategy, but if they have true unibody for iphone6, then that's OK.
