I am running Snow Leopard now and haven't had a single problem with Apps working or anything. All the 64-Bit Apps are really responsive. Mail sure as hell is faster. Safari works great now. I could not be happier. I am glad the upgrade will only be $29 though because it doesn't look different at all. It's kinda like going from a iPhone 3G to an iPhone 3GS with Leopard to Snow Leopard. Your just getting a speed bumb. Also when I upgrade I gained 12.33GB of space... superseeding the 6GB amount they stated. What has everyone else gained from upgrading?

Nice, can't wait to get that extra HD space back!

The picture Apple used is ugly. Couldn't they have been more creative? I think it would be better if it was a side view of a lean-looking Snow Leopard with it's tail wrapped around something. Maybe a disk or some amazing feature.

What does it say on the box.

Front:

The most advanced OS in the world. Perfectly optimized.

Back:

Left column - Updated from the installation to its closing. The rest isn't readable.

Middle column - New core technologies.

Right column - Microsoft Exchange support.

Cheers for that.

Already have Snow Leopard installed, not much to be excited about

So I have Snow Leopard "Final GM" installed since yesterday (Friday) and I gotta say...there's not much to tell.

In fact, after installing and using it for a bit, I had to go into the "About Mac" option to really make sure I had installed it. I even had to visit the Apple Snow Leopard site to figure out what the heck changed.

Aside from a few visual effects in Finder, Quicklook, Stacks/Grids, etc. there's practically 0 noticeable difference. Mail and Safari open up quicker but it's like noticing the difference between Mach 1 and Mach 2 (you're already going fast so who cares?)

BTW, this was tested on a testbox MBA Rev. 2 1.86Ghz 2GB RAM, 120GB SSD.

In other words, you should be more excited about the Apple Tablet than Snow Leopard.

But if you're overly excited for SL, trust me, your expectations will be severally crushed after installing it. It's practically the same Leopard we all have today.

Sorry guys. :-(

Not a fan of the snow leopard image. I liked the new Aurora with the shiny black X from the beta DVD MUCH more. I'm guessing Bertrand picked it without consulting Steve first. It's space prison for him!

Did you clean install or update the necessary files?

Also, the packaging looks decent. I'm fine with it, just Leopard's packaging was incredibly sexy.

This might be a an prototype of a box design, or might even be real. (I'm thinking it may be real)

though is it still cardboard? I would think they would go with plastic (like the ipods) with the disc in plain sight. The disc will be the same as shown in the article.

What would also be neat is if they added that plastic type matteral that has the image that when you move the plastic around the image changes. (not sure of the exact name) See the "snow leopard" move around.

Looks good, I guess they're trying to differentiate from the 10.5 packaging.

Seems we should see an press release on monday or tuesday.
