Interesting idea... If it is real, then I hope it does actually look like this.

Anybody remember this?
SnowLeopard.JPG

I've been testing both server and user builds for the past year and am not 100% convinced 10a432 is the GM.

1: Sever DVD 10a433 was just released to developers
2: 10a432 User DVD has no Quicktime preferences
3: It is not booting to 64 bit kernel by default on systems that are capable
4: Not all the extensions have been finalized in 64 bit

I feel there is probably a few builds to come before it's officially gone GM

If you search around you will find others saying the same.

10a432 is a solid build, things are getting well polished and nearing completion

Cheers

It's practically the same Leopard we all have today.

Sorry guys. :-(

Well Apple DID say it won't be a major realse, but rather improvements under the hood.

Love the look. It's a refreshing departure from the "X" theme.

A photo of one of nature's most beautiful creatures in a minimalist setting. Nicely done. Less is more.

Agreed.

I actually like the box *and* the box image. I think it is artistic, beautiful in its simplicity and clarity, and from an advertising standpoint I think that box cover would be plenty capable of drawing attention from someone walking past. Definitely looks legit, too.

I'm looking forward more to this OS X upgrade than nearly any before!

I caught my attention right away.
I don't think this is real...

We'll see, though. Just doesn't seem proper.

and what is?

This?

X

or a picture of a leopard? We all know apple, with simple, clean designs. This does it.

Looks good, I guess they're trying to differentiate from the 10.5 packaging.

Seems we should see an press release on monday or tuesday.

Thats exactly why they might want to change it.

I think the main question now, given most say its real, is the image taken by the same person/people that take pictures for Apple's desktop backgrounds,

So I have Snow Leopard "Final GM" installed since yesterday (Friday) and I gotta say...there's not much to tell.

In fact, after installing and using it for a bit, I had to go into the "About Mac" option to really make sure I had installed it. I even had to visit the Apple Snow Leopard site to figure out what the heck changed.

Aside from a few visual effects in Finder, Quicklook, Stacks/Grids, etc. there's practically 0 noticeable difference. Mail and Safari open up quicker but it's like noticing the difference between Mach 1 and Mach 2 (you're already going fast so who cares?)

BTW, this was tested on a testbox MBA Rev. 2 1.86Ghz 2GB RAM, 120GB SSD.

In other words, you should be more excited about the Apple Tablet than Snow Leopard.

But if you're overly excited for SL, trust me, your expectations will be severally crushed after installing it. It's practically the same Leopard we all have today.

Sorry guys. :-(

I have to concur here. Leopard had all the shiny new features. Snow Leopard is... underwhelming. Of course, a year from now when all apps start building on top of the APIs that Snow Leopard gives developers, that's when it will really be amazing.

For now, probably the few new noticable features are that the Grid view for Stacks is actually worth using now and Microsoft Exchange support (assuming your Exchange server is Exchange Server 2007 with Update Rollup 4 installed).

And iTunes still isn't 64-bit. =/

Mac OS X 10.7 box art leaked!

Guys, I've got the box art here for 10.7!

Any guesses what its codename will be? :D

Seriously, the picture looks pretty tacky. Sorry. I like the Windows 7 packaging better, and I am typing this from a computer with Leopard on it, so it's not like I'm biased towards Windows

It's simple but not in a good Apple way... I don't like it.

Then again, I'm not installing the box on my machine so it's not a huge deal.
