possible someone took this image and made the retail box photos, but not sure that sounds likely either.

arn

I wouldn't call it a retail box. It looks more like a cardboard sleeve. No barcode either.

One thing I did notice earlier today is that Amazon removed the box art from their 10.6 pre-order pages. Maybe they are planning to replace them with this new box art...
:apple:

Ha!

HAHA what a joke.

do you really think apple would do some thing that ****.

guessing theses came from the same person that said Snow Leopard turned gold.

i think every one need to calm down and stop being fan boys.

So I have Snow Leopard "Final GM" installed since yesterday (Friday) and I gotta say...there's not much to tell.

I agree completely. In fact, it's major advantage--speed--is not even noticeable on my MacBook (Core 2 Duo, Early 2007). Snow Leopard, despite all the hype, is a rather boring release for consumers.

If Apple didn't use the 10.X.X moniker for patch updates, I would have given Snow Leopard a 10.5.5 version number similar to the the old OS 7/8 days.

There's no question why they priced it at $29.

Guys, I've got the box art here for 10.7!

Any guesses what its codename will be? :D

Seriously, the picture looks pretty tacky. Sorry. I like the Windows 7 packaging better, and I am typing this from a computer with Leopard on it, so it's not like I'm biased towards Windows

Uhhh where have you been for the last 10 years? Mac OS are cats....

Nice try though, would have been more funny if it was a icanhazcheezburger tho

The picture Apple used is ugly. Couldn't they have been more creative? I think it would be better if it was a side view of a lean-looking Snow Leopard with it's tail wrapped around something. Maybe a disk or some amazing feature.

Ugly? Oh, puhleez....

I have had clients like you. Now when they call I hang up on them cause they are a pain to work with and wouldn't know a good design if it hit them over the head.

The only thing I would say that doesn't look quite right is the fact that the pictured SL disc is in a plastic sleeve.

The only discs from Apple that come in such plastic sleeves are those that come with a new computer. Boxed software will either have paper sleeves or a cardboard disc holder.

I dont see anyone throwing a fit...

So I have Snow Leopard "Final GM" installed since yesterday (Friday) and I gotta say...there's not much to tell.

In fact, after installing and using it for a bit, I had to go into the "About Mac" option to really make sure I had installed it. I even had to visit the Apple Snow Leopard site to figure out what the heck changed.

Aside from a few visual effects in Finder, Quicklook, Stacks/Grids, etc. there's practically 0 noticeable difference. Mail and Safari open up quicker but it's like noticing the difference between Mach 1 and Mach 2 (you're already going fast so who cares?)

BTW, this was tested on a testbox MBA Rev. 2 1.86Ghz 2GB RAM, 120GB SSD.

In other words, you should be more excited about the Apple Tablet than Snow Leopard.

But if you're overly excited for SL, trust me, your expectations will be severally crushed after installing it. It's practically the same Leopard we all have today.

Sorry guys. :-(

Well then, it must be showing up on the torrents. ;)

Perhaps they are changing it?

its cool but...

its cool but i wish they kept the X logo. i think it was the signature part of mac os boxing and now its gone. still, looks pretty darn good:apple:

I'm starting to like the packaging actually. At first I thought it looked cheesy, but it's starting to look "clean" to me. You know what I mean? It really stands out from the regular Leopard disc.

Anyone know what I mean? It just looks cleaner with all the white and the picture of the Snow Leopard covered in snow. Pretty neat actually.

change is good. More appealing then a large X

I agree

Come on...

Come on guys it's a box and a DVD:rolleyes:. I'm more worried about the work it can do rather than the picture thats on a disc that I will look @ once maybe twice. They could put a "cat turd" on it and I would not really care as long as it's OS X and, "it just works":D

Yep, exactly my thoughts. Although a poster above does bring up a good point about this being the first in the OS X lineup that does away with the "X" branding on the box, which is a bit unfortunate.

But overall, I like it.

I hope it comes out sooner rather than later then, if you have enough copies Apple release it early! Don't wait for some unknown reason.

if this is, in fact, the real packaging, then I'm a fan... then again, it's really what's on the inside that counts, so I really couldn't have cared less even if the packaging was less than exciting (besides- it'll likely go in my closet first thing after I open the box).

good grief, the same people griping about this photo are likely the same ones who griped about the new flip-up plastic packaging for the 2G iPod touch not being the same design as the old cardboard iPod boxes- it's just packaging guys, get a grip...
