We can only hope White iPhones have the antennae & proximity sensor issues fixed out of the box.Who knows? maybe the manufacturing challenges they faced was the cause of the antenna issues with the black iPhone. Maybe they solved it for the white one?
Yes I wish Apple PR would issue an announcement of when they're going to let us begin placing orders. It's like they're making everyone who are waiting for White second class customers with all this FUD surrounding the launch of WHITE models.
Am I the only one who thinks that this is an abuse of companies that have excellent return policies.
As more and more establishments reduce return time spans, reduce reasons for accepting returns, give people hard times, absorb costs because of repackaging and reselling as a refurb. Doing it for such a high demand item is especially selfish.
This has been tried with electrical tape. Doesn't work. We are not dealing with electricity, where bridging cause a short. I don't have an explanation. Only going by mine and others experiences.
If I am in a weak signal area, I can drop the bars by putting my hand over the lower left - WITH A BUMPER ON THE PHONE. I'm not an engineer with a technical explanation as to why. Only know what I see.
If I am in a strong signal area, nothing I can do to drop the bars or degrade performance.

Not owning either black or white... I have read where some feel that the screen "looks" smaller when "boxed" in by the white front, versus the black one.
Is that opinion the feeling of any here that have been holding out for the white iPhone?
Like wearing light color clothing in the summer or wearing a vertical striped shirt if you are a big person.
Certain things affect what is perceived.Also, "The company announced just prior to the initial iPhone 4 launch late last month that availability of the white models will be delayed until the second half of this month due to manufacturing challenges."
Why can that be an acceptable excuse from Apple to explain the delay in getting the white iPhone out to the masses and yet, we the people, can't suggest 'due to manufacturing challenges' as a way of explaining the black iPhone antenna problem to Apple's insistence that there is nothing wrong except bad math?

I really do think that for the white iPhone they should change the band from stainless steel to gold. Then it would look like cheap costume jewelry. Or a Lexus.

The black iPhone has 75% more Wifis than the white iPhone, though.
