Most people I speak to say 3D Touch really isn't that useful, bigger screen sizes is not innovation and took no effort on Apple's part. I agree about Apple Pay though. But one, truly useful, feature in 3 years?

Never use 3d touch....only by accident sometimes. Totally uninteresting as is Live Photo...who spends time inanely pressing down the screen covering part of the photo to see it pathetically move for a second or two? Apple Pay still not available from my bank so no views on that one...

So you want a worse camera in exchange for your opinion of "better looks" on the back of the phone?

No, I want a good camera without the camera bump. Make the phone 1mm thicker if it has to be, and fill that space with a bigger battery. Hence my interest in the iPhone SE.

The only reason why there's a bump in the first place is so that Phil can come on stage bragging about how thin the phone is. If you need a bump for the camera, it's too thin. I prefer function over form; others obviously differ.

Maybe Tim just like big bumps. I know quite a few people that prefer the bigger bumps, the bigger the better :D

My gosh I hope so or Apple really is doomed!

Fortunately their are more optimistic customers. I will get back to you on the day my iPhone 7 arrives and let you know how much I like it. Enjoy that 6s.

Most are waiting for the true upgrade for the iPhone 8.
True. And I will preorder that one as well. Can't wait for 2017.

In all honesty I find this situation bit strange. We all know that iPhone is Apple's key product. One could argue that it is crucial to their success. So, why on earth are they taking back seat and seemingly letting Android to take the lead in high end mobile devices. I honestly hate Google and that is the only reason why I'm not buying Samsung Note 7. Then again I won't be getting iPhone 7 either if this truly is the next iPhone.

Tim Cook is thinking of money while Steve was about vision and making the best iPhone. The Steve era is over sadly and people still defend Apple even when they are slacking.

Doing nothing and acting like an iSheep is keeping Apple at the same path. If you really care about Apple you'll let them know that it's almost impossible for a tech company to behave like they do lately. It will help them keeping their iSheeps and getting new iSheeps too.

And besides that... Name one other tech company still in business who's that lagging in products like Apple is lately.

If this wasn't Apple, NOBODY would buy any of their old, overpriced products right now.
They are still riding their fame card, but for how long? Remember Nokia, Palm, Ericsson, etc, etc?
I bet the same might happen to Apple, except in 2016 it would be much accelerated, even comparing
to those old brands nobody cares about anymore...

Why would that be an issue? There will likely be simple, unobtrusive, inexpensive, adapters to connect any set of headphones.

Imagine getting on a plane and realizing you forgot your adapter and have no music. Or God forbid, you lost it and will have to shell out another $35.

I have too many adapters, dongles, and charging cables already. There are easier solutions, such as: save yourself $800 and don't buy a new iPhone.

I actually don't blame Tim Cook. This was Apple's direction for a while before Steve died. As soon as iPod and iPhone became their chief revenue streams, they started to become a fashion/accessory company.

Apple simply doesn't connect with tech geeks anymore. They're chasing a much bigger market, and that market segment is far less concerned about underlying technology. People want sleeker devices, new colors, etc.

The other issue, of course, is that phones have reached the "good enough" stage. It's sort of what happened to computers in general..

Wow I just came on to find 35 alerts from this thread. Usually that means I've done something wrong, but they were all likes. :D

Others do differ, like practically every phone manufacturer out there.

That the reason why Apple choose to upgrade the internal but keep the same design ?

That the reason why, here, on a tech site, people are mainly complaining about Apple keeping the same design for a third year ? May be MacRumor is a fashion site now ?

Am I the only one that thinks the speaker cut outs on the left side that are replacing the head phone jack look crooked? Poor photoshop job?

These brand disappeared because Apple brought a disruptive and much better product. Today, no competition have disruptive and much better product than the iPhone : some have marginally better product in some way. May be things will change with foldable devices (but I am sure Apple follow the topic closely) ?

About the "overpriced" qualifier, well, smartphones are central in our today lives, it has a great usage value, and relative to this, I don't find the iPhone price to be too high. But may be it is an other debate to discuss if the low price race is a good thing or not.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news / a bubble burster, but here goes:

The photo showing a LACK of 3.5mm jack on the bottom...is Photoshopped!

If you'll notice the left-side speaker is crooked. Whoever did this Photoshop is bad at it. Apple would never let something like crooked speakers slip. Especially since placement of things inside the phone needs to be exact for everything else to fit.

Someone merely used a marquee tool to copy the right speaker to the left side, and didn't bother making sure it was aligned with the right side before saving and pushing to the world.

Bad fake.

I hope you are not giving false hope to the whole world.

Did not think you could possibly make the antenna bands look worse! But damn it....they've managed it! This really makes one doubt Ives' sense of design. Ugly! I hate using anything but thin transparent covers but this might force one to hide it. It really looks repulsive!

I couldn't agree more.

It's lamentable that Ive's sense of design has vaporised so comprehensively. Alas, it would seem that this is what happens when Steve Jobs dies.

I have no wish to apportion blame, but merely observe.

"-We are proud to present our ugliest iPhone ever."

Ugly is the new beautiful; evil is the new good. :(

Most are waiting for the true upgrade for the iPhone 8.

You may as well be waiting for Godot.

A true upgrade will arrive when Steve Jobs is resurrected; I won't hold my breath.

It is, indeed, a puzzle.

My wild and implausible theory is that Tim Cook subconsciously wants Apple to fail.

so the real question now is...
how to migrate your itunes library to an Android phone.

oooh innovative! I guess I am in the minority on this, but I am actually very pissed off about the headphone jack removal.

No headphone jack is like making a car with no doors.

That's because Tim Cook's Apple isn't about innovation. It's about stability and safety. He's just keeping the old ship going rather than bothering to create anything new. TBH what Tesla is doing now is far more exciting than Apple. Tesla are the new Apple.

Agreed. What apple is doing is so lackluster.

I miss steve.
