You think you know it all don't you? It's not about what's going on, it's about how people respond to it in this forum. Yes, including you. Whoever the shoe fits, right?
And surely you are a big part of the problem. Thinking you can change the world from behind your keyboard, thinking that Tim Cooke reads your puny comments and decides to do things differently. Thinking you are doing the right thing by spewing your bile all over the place, everytime again, is going to make this world a better place. How terribly naive.

How small must your world be if you really think the ram in your f***king phone is the most important thing in your sad and lonely life. Get a f***king life.

LOL. Did I hit a nerve? Are you one of the people that buy Apple no matter what? It sure sounds like you are.

Did you know Apple still conducts surveys? Yes, they do. I know because I've taken one before. That is the best place to complain. Remember when Apple said during trial that "Customers want what we don’t have.". Credit the complainers for making a difference. Jobs was a well known proponent of the first iPhone being the perfect size LOL.

You made me laugh guy. I'm surprised you didn't tell me say hello to my parents LOL. Now go do as you're told and buy the next iPhone.

Cool. More units for the people who want one. Don't expect much this year. We all know they are saving it for the 10th anniversary of the iPhone next year.

The 10th year anniversary model of the iPhone has just been released by Samsung in the shape of the Note 7 - Amoled screen, VR capable, no edges, a combination of iPhone and iPad Pro, dust and water resistant, USB-c, Iris scanner, wireless charging, etc.

Right. And? Even the Note 7 won't come close to outselling the "same" iPhone 7.

This is the only thing that bothers me about the new phone. People say it's a minimal upgrade but i think the faster processor, additional ram, more storage, better camera are all pluses. The only thing that bothers me are the obnoxious huge bezels. It seriously detracts from a good product that Apple puts out.
So much noise about bezel size... OK, the less bezel the better, but it is not a major ceiling point or deal breaker.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news / a bubble burster, but here goes:

The photo showing a LACK of 3.5mm jack on the bottom...is Photoshopped!

If you'll notice the left-side speaker is crooked. Whoever did this Photoshop is bad at it. Apple would never let something like crooked speakers slip. Especially since placement of things inside the phone needs to be exact for everything else to fit.

Someone merely used a marquee tool to copy the right speaker to the left side, and didn't bother making sure it was aligned with the right side before saving and pushing to the world.

Bad fake.

No, no, no...it's going to be "magical" how it wirelessly connects

You're joking I think, but in all seriousness, that's about right. There's four major issues keeping people from adopting wireless headphones right now. 1) ease of use -- pairing, etc., 2) quality, 3) battery life, 4) cost. If Apple removes even 1 & 2 from that equation, it's going to increase the appeal of the technology. I also suspect that they have been working on a way to maximize battery. And ultimately, by removing the headphone jack, demand will definitely be increased, thereby lowering the cost. But initially when they demonstrate the "magical" way in which the wireless headphones connect, that will go a long way toward making that option more attractive to customers. What I expect Apple has been working on is a complete wireless solution with HQ audio and content, indistinguishable from wired headphones, that allows easy pairing, even with groups of people who want to stream the same content from the same source, or quickly move from device to device, maximizing the battery life, and offering the ability to easily plug into a source when the batteries die, as well as anticipating demand and pricing their new wireless headphones below market expectations. That's going to be a very powerful position for all but the fringe headphone users.

What were people actually expecting design wise? For me, going from a 16GB iphone 6 to iphone 7 with bigger storage (64GB or more) faster processors 3D touch and anything else is a bonus. It's a much needed upgrade for me.

Losing the headphone port is a bit odd. One of the reasons I went for a macbook pro over the new macbook. Other than the better processors etc the pro has. Having one port that does everything but you need adapters for everything seems backwards.

Here's the thing, the adapters are necessary for the transition from legacy connectors. For the first time USB-C can do it all. Thinking about Ethernet, there's no reason why the cable I have to attach to my Mac can't be a USB-C coming straight out of the wall. Eventually, every peripheral I own will be a native USB-C device, just like I replaced all my SCSI drives with Firewire, and ADB & serial peripherals with USB. USB 3 was able to extend the life of USB-A devices transparently for consumers by being 100% compatible. But that's not possible anymore. So once USB-C supplants everything else, it's hard to imagine that environments that require Ethernet for example, wouldn't install native USB-C cables coming out the wall as more and more laptops are dropping the RJ-45 port. As usual Apple is pushing the actual transition earlier, which allows them to be more progressive with their designs. People on the tech edge will modify their habits accordingly, those who aren't arguably should hang on to their old Macs since they don't need the latest and greatest anyway.

Does it need to? Sales aren't always a true measurement of quality

By the time the 2017 is out I'm sure Samsung will have something even better out by 2017. Even if the 2017 iPhone is at the level of this years note 7 that's enough. They may always be behind the times but as long as they show some improvement

No. We know that the exterior looks largely the same and they'll have filled the interior with higher specs, which is just easy to predict, and brand new 'features' which are mostly gimmicky and barely anybody will actually use in real life other than to show their friends what's different about their iPhone 7. Just like what Apple have been doing for the past 3 years.
That's absurd. Maybe you think 3D Touch is gimmicky, but I use it daily. Maybe you think Apple Pay and 1080p 60fps video recording is gimmicky, but I use it daily. Maybe you think Touch ID, motion coprocessors, and true tone flash are gimmicky, but I use it daily.

These are all innovative features from the past 3 years that I'm thrilled with, and none of them can be seen by looking at a leaked shell. None of it. The ONLY thing a shell can tell us is the aesthetics and the very rare feature that changes the hole cutouts.

You and most people here are overreacting without knowing jack about the new iPhone.

While several photos depicting what is believed to be the iPhone 7 have surfaced in recent months, most if not all of the components have been early prototypes, design molds, or well-designed Chinese counterfeits. A new series of photos have leaked, however, that quite possibly could be the real deal.

The first photos of what is claimed to be a real, fully assembled iPhone 7, shared by Chinese repair shop GeekBar on Weibo, show the smartphone in a powered on state running Apple's internal testing software called SwitchBoard. The photos were first spotted and vetted by French website NWE.

The device itself lines up with previous photos, showing no headphone jack, dual speakers, a larger rear-facing iSight camera, and repositioned antenna bands along the rear shell. The device still has a home button, but whether it is touch sensitive as rumored cannot be clearly distinguished.

Apple is widely expected to introduce the tentatively named iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus next month, with noted leaker Evan Blass pointing towards U.S. retail availability on Friday, September 16. If true, Apple could begin pre-orders in first-wave launch countries one week earlier on Friday, September 9.

It should be iphone 6SE not iphone7.

I think the note 7 and Galaxy s7/edge definitely will outsell the iPhone. Looking around (and I don't live in the USA) I see already more Samsung Galaxy S7 then I see iPhone 6/6s. Over here Apple already lost its cool. And you know the sad thing about that? Apple just letting it happen.

why 6SE instead of 6t ?
6t meaning: same try?

Did not think you could possibly make the antenna bands look worse! But damn it....they've managed it! This really makes one doubt Ives' sense of design. Ugly! I hate using anything but thin transparent covers but this might force one to hide it. It really looks repulsive!

The innovative features you're mentioning are nice and appreciated. The only thing is that the competition is also offering them at half the price. Except from the 3D Touch, but only a few apps support that and the new Android comes with 3D Touch support as well. So if features are on par, the iPhone 7 needs to excell somewhere and not excelling in price. If the rumors are true, which I can't really imagine/hope, the iPhone 7 will be a sitting expensive ugly duck in a fast changing tech industry.
