Yes, like I said before though, I just hope AT&T's system didn't screw something up in terms of upgrade eligibility because of me placing an AT&T pre-order, cancelling, and then pre-ordering through Apple. I'm not concerned about if Apple will have the phone. I just want the activation/upgrade to go as smooth as possible.

Sorry, I missed your mention of an Apple order confirmation. It will be fine, worst case scenario they will have to get AT&T on the phone. The store that I go to usually has carrier reps there to assist.

Does the order number prefix signify anything?

Also I believe my card has been charged. I don't see it but my available balance has dropped significantly

W = Good to go
R = Was a reservation when pre-ordering that expired.

I was hoping for that too but my card was charged this morning.

Could the reason for the cards not being charged is because this happens when you get to the store on launch day? If you read the instructions after you placed your order, it states that you have bring the card you used to make the purchase and a photo ID.

If you are going to trade in your old device for credit toward your new phone, make sure that you do the following:

1) Enter the Apple Store and meet with a Apple Store specialist. Have them take out your reserved iPhone 6 or Plus.

2) When they bring out your device, before you pay for it, make sure you get them to do a trade in for your old device FIRST before you pay. You can get up to $200 for your device if you have kept it well. They will give you an Apple Gift Card. You can use this gift card toward the purchase of the iPhone you're buying.

3) Give the gift card back for the iPhone and then hand over your credit card. They'll complete the transaction and you'll have your new iPhone!

I have made a reservation for in store pickup. I guess this is different from ordering online and picking up on the store as no money is charged until you pick it up.

Does your order start with a W or R?

Upgrading

My story:

  • Order number begins with a 'W'
  • Order still shows 'Processing items'
  • Pick up: Available 9/19
  • Credit card has a 'pending' transaction from Apple
  • Picking up from Apple Store Domain
  • CANNOT WAIT

What I've done is just a reservation for in store pick up, there is no order number associated with this, nor is there any money being charged until I pick it up.

Thank you. Your iPhone is reserved.
Your iPhone reservation is confirmed for pickup. Be sure to arrive during the pickup time selected. While you’re here, we can get your new iPhone set up and ready to use.

This post made lol hard!

What I find weird though is that they charged my CC but I can still cancel on Apples website?

I just wish I knew one person (not virtually) that is excited as I am. My friends/family (that I admit this to) all think I'm crazy. Note that I am a 45 yr old female CPA... very alone in my excitement. Happens every year. :) Glad I have you guys.

Picking mine up from the Apple store in Des Moines.

As of today (9/15) they charged the full amount to my Credit Card, so I'm guessing all is good.

I have one real life friend who is as excited as I am. It's become like a brotherhood.

Two or so questions

I've read this thread but I haven't found the answers to these two questions yet:

1) Do they really only hold your Apple store pre-order for only a limited time like 24 hours?
and
2) It seems like even the pre-order line may take quite a while to move because each person has to activate their phone (they might have complicated issues to deal with with switching carriers, trying to shift to new plan, the servers are swamped so people cat activate, etc.) and potentially ask for help/tutorials, open their box, try to trade in their existing phone(s), etc. Does anyone know how it works?

When I've gone to my closest Apple Store on a regular day it takes 15 minutes at least before anyone helps me (this doesn't include the check in, which is pretty fast). Does everybody just move faster on launch day?

I have to decide whether I have to take a day off of work just to pick up my preordered phone. I'd rather just pick it up after work or close to closing time so they have to get me my phone fast so they can all go home. No one else on this tread seems to be worried about this so maybe I'm worried for no reason. Hope so. I've read that they make you activate in store. I wish they could just throw me the package, I go home and get it activated on my own.

Also, how does the line get split up after everyone is in one big line to start with? Is it just who moves the fastest to the right line/has the sharpest elbows? I guess that's more than two questions.

Thanks in advance.

When I went for my iPhone 5 it only took about 5 minutes for them to do the activation. They open the box, activate, and then give you the phone to start syncing with your icloud account if you have one.

I am! And since demand is so high i'm thinking I need to leave a lot earlier than planned. I'm going to my AT&T store in hopes of getting the 64GB grey 6.

lol you're not alone. I talk about my "stupid phone" everyday and I'm pretty sure my family and coworkers have just about had enough. But i won't stop until i have it in my hand! even after i'm still going to brag about it :p

I have a pending charge to my CC....

If I do not receive a pick up time for my iPhone 6... Can I just show up after work & my preordered IPhone 6+ be there?
