Seems antiquated.

I shouldn't have to print & bring in paper. :( I should be able to show them my order confirm email.

Buying expensive phone, has issues with printing out a piece of paper....

I think what they are going for is expedited process, not having to pull up an order and then go through more steps. You show them the paper, they scan, mark as done and you go about your day. It adds more time pulling up emails and stuff.

I'm with you, although i just printed a screen shot of the order with the details and wrote bigger on the paper the web order number...maybe i will get something before hand and I can print that out but in the mean time what I printed out I don't see it being any faster than me giving them my email to look up the order. there is no bar code to scan

I'm sending my Dad prepared since he is the only authorized user that can go get it.

I have heard everything from just needing a photo ID to having a piece of mail with his name on it that matches the billing address!

He will have his photo ID, the CC used to buy the phone, a bill of his that happens to get mailed to my address, and finally a piece of mail with my name and my address!

It's bad enough that I'm sending a 65 year old retiree to go experience the madness of an Apple store iPhone launch.

Here's to hoping it goes smooth for him!

Is everyone still "processing"? Order still says processing and available for pick up 9/19 and my card hasn't been charged yet

Still in process, but I don't think it's going to change until Friday.

Btw, currently I'm using a 5S and I used my Dad's line to purchase the new phone. Question is, when I get the new phone, can I just pop-out the SIM card in my current 5S to replace the one came with the new phone and then activate the new one? Or do I need to call AT&T?

I've been seeing both answers, but has anyone done the similar thing before?

Yes, you can simply use your existing nano SIM card in your new iPhone and it should work just fine.

I hope it goes smoothly, but why do you need to take bills with name and address? I thought all they needed was a photo ID and the CC used for the purchase.

LOL that makes no sense. When I picked up my MacBook I didn't need paper for the pickup I showed the mail & my ID, CC and I left. My MacBook cost more than my phone. So...

I too think that is a tad ridiculous but with all the BS I have seen flying around this forum regarding the launch I feel as if it's better to be safe than sorry lol

I would have just had it shipped to his house had I known that I could not stroll in on Monday and pick up my phone after I get back into town.

And yes my order is still "processing" but my card does have a temporary authorization for the full amount.

Picking mine up at the Lenox Apple Store here in Atlanta. I received the confirmation email Friday at 4:20am, status remain at processing and cc is pending.

Any status change from processing to "shipping to store" or similar for anyone?

On the actual website there is an option for shipping to store

yep.

And i spoke to an apple rep this morning and he said "we need to reach store as soon as possible for pickup". Apple shall send a text / email about when to pick up.

Nothing new, this has been discussed here on countless threads.

Anyone know if you can "try out the phones" and not lose your place in line? I am almost fully set on geting a 6, but want to try out the 6 plus. I really want the phone on launch day as my current phone is almost completely unusable.

I ordered a space grey 128gb 6, but I'm now considering white.... Do you think they might let me swap when I go to pick it up?

Talk me out of it!

Probably not unless you wait on the line like all the people who didn't preorder?
