The Grand Central store is a mess, went this morning on my way into work, preorder line was 2 hours long. So I left came to work, gunna stop in at lunch to see if it's gotten better, they should have sold out of walkins by then so I imagine they'd be able to dedicate more staff to preorders to make it all go faster.

Curious about this as well. Have a pickup for today ready, but have to go later. Hoping the crowd dies down a bit by this afternoon.

Me too. If I go after work I'm hoping they'll be sold out of phones for all the people hoping to just show up and buy one so it'll be easier to get in and out.

Yup grand central was a mess. There was a bunch of people just crowding the entrance inside the station. The actual line started outside. The preorder line was 250 people long at around 9am so I'm hoping itll be better later in the day.

Got mine without any hassle whatsoever. I went with the T-Mobile store in a suburb of DFW, and had a little over ten people in line before opening at 8 AM. All-around great time!

The preorder line at Atlanta's Lenox Mall is about 2-2.5 hours. I think that its a suicide mission for most of the walk in's in line. I don't know why there wasn't a delivery option when I placed my order at 4:20am on Friday but I'll never do this again. The system is ill-conceived and any other way would be better.

Long line at the Apple Store here in Tampa. I thought it would be more streamlined for us who got in store pickup on the 12th.

We'll see how long it takes but the line hasn't moved the first 15 minutes.

I was in and out of the Providence store in just about an hour and half. I didn't show up until 8:00 a.m. was done by 9:30.

I was in and out in about 8 minutes here in columbus, stood in the preorder line for all of 5, gave the guy the paper, brought out the phone and i was on my way.

Got to Apple store here at the Smith Haven Mall on Long Island this morning around 8:15. Hundreds of people waiting on line inside and outside the mall. Apple staff had it very well under control. As I approached one of the lines outside an Apple employee came up to me. Told him I was here to pick up a pre-order and that I have the email with the code. He escorted me right past all the lines and to the front of the store. I was the only one on the pre-order line. I waited about a minute and another employee introduced himself and brought me into the store and set me up with my new iPhone 6 64 gig. I was in and out in about 20 minutes tops. It couldn't have been a nicer experience. Especially since it was my first Launch Day. Played with the 6+ on display. Great screen size but man is it a big phone. Just sayin'.

I just went by to try to pick my pre-ordered iphone during my lunch hour. I saw a monster line and in my head was "chumps, why didnt they just pre-order? I'm about to walk to the front of this line and get my phone and they'll all be like "

Well, karma bit me. That WAS the pre-order line. 2 hour wait. I'll try to go back during off hours.

Picked mine up at Walt Whitman in NY this morning. Got there at 8am where they greeted me and put me in a small line inside of store with 4 people in front of me. I was out at 8:30. Was going there with the thought I'd be waiting a while. Was painless and I added applecare to my order as well. The non-preorder line was pretty long with about 100+ deep.

So the Apple store I was picking up from is inside a mall. I pull into the parking lot at 8:30 am and notice a huge line outside as well as tons of security. I'm thinking "wthell, why are they still lining up outside"? Turns out they won't allow anyone in until 10:00am. I had to leave and will go back later today or after work.

Has it been confirmed you can pickup anytime before the 28th? Might wait a day for the madness to die down if true...

Picked-up at Century City. They took almost all pre-orders before letting the first stand-by in. That was great for me, but I feel bad for those waiting since yesterday that they were held up for another 30 minutes.

I arrived at 8:15, and there were about 30 people in front of me. Took me about 10 minutes to get in, and another 15 minutes to get my phone.

Whole process including line: <30 minutes

If Apple said you can, you will! This morning is probably the worst time to go in. Going forward, it won't be as crazy. Plan on picking up my phone later in the day or after work (7pm).

I picked up in store this morning. The Eaton Centre store in Toronto didn't start taking customers in until 9 am from what I could see. This put the reservations line up behind by an hour right from the start. I arrived at 830 am for my 9-10 am reservation. I was out of there by 1030 so that isn't too bad. I would certainly considering doing this again in the future for another iPhone release if it was an option again.

I'm back waiting in the grand central store line now. Still saying 2 hours. Even though the line is way shorter than it was this morning. Genuinely don't understand how they're running things here. Walk in line appears to be moving way faster.

Thats interesting. When i walked to the front of the Atlanta store about an hour ago the apple employee pointed me to the back of a 2 hour pre-order line OR i can pick it up anytime within 5 days..... she didnt say anything about the 28th.

Just hoping there wont be a wave of people getting off work to go cash in their pre-order.
