Thanks guys for firing up the macs and using activity monitor to actually see the macbook uses 50% of the cpu just to watch a youtube video. You guys are awesome I cant wait to get a mac and watch youtube and other websites macs are so awesome.
Wow, I'm surprised it took someone this long to mention that Flash playback is horrible and CPU intensive on OS X.Just quick heads up here, flash is a very processor intensive bit of software which, among it's other popular uses, is used on youtube. You should find similar processor hogging on most computers out there, but as long as the video is playing (and not stuttering) I wouldn't worry about it.
OP: Look around the forums a bit before posting and making yourself look stupid.
Safari uses 50% of one core, which is 25% of your total processing power. Windows would report as 25% in its Task Manager, because it calculates usage based on the CPU, while OS X does it based on processes. Yes, the Flash implementation is rather resource-intensive and could be optimized, Adobe and Apple are working on it. If you don't buy a Mac because it doesn't have a super-fast implementation of Adobe Flash, you're an idiot.
Where is the proof? I dont want you to qoute things that you havnt actually proven. Where are the screen shots?
Did you see my post? I provided screen shots that backed up what he said, while Safari is using 50% in activity monitor it is only 50% of one core, which is why my CPU usage is only at 30% overall.
Where is the proof? I dont want you to qoute things that you havnt actually proven. Where are the screen grabs? Ill wait![]()
Sir respectfully, those screen shots didnt show up. There is a large red "X" in the upper left corner of those shots. That says "THUMB RESIZE"
Does anyone else have any idea what he's talking about? the screen shots show up just fine for me on safari and firefox
Thats quite convenient![]()

Well i see them he must be using that dodgy Macbook, you know the one.![]()
The shots are showing up for me... they do back up Stachelsk and MasterNile. In all honesty, it's not such a big thing really because the sites work perfectly and you won't see anything wrong with Youtube at all. I really wouldn't let this be the deal-breaker in whether or not you buy the MB!
Actually I am currently at work using a HP Desktop, not sure why those "X" are there but they are lol my gov cpu blocks the images

gixxerredliner; Thanks for this extremely entertaining thread. I am rolling around on the office floor laughing.
In the current MB's we have CPUs running with dual cores, awesome (budget) GPUs, and a whopping 4 gigs of RAM.... people have been testing some pretty recent games on these... benchmarks are vastly improved over prior MBs and (heavens forbid) iBooks.... and your biggest concerns are utube vids.
Maybe once Apple figures this issue out, there will be peace in the Holy Land....
Just go buy your Dell!!
No problem sir as my T.I. used to say "IM HERE FOR YOU"
p.s. if i did buy a pc/laptop it wouldnt be a "DELL", HP is king espiecally with the future release of Windows 7. But thats another thread and topic that i wont dare cross.
Enjoy your Windows 7...
