It wasn't as terrible as everyone here make it out to be. It was just kind of bland. Most of the app ideas were average at best, but there was some nuggets here and there. It was just hard to see who the market for this type of show was: developers? Nope. Venture capitalists? Maybe, but how big is that niche? Shark Tank viewers? Never seen it, so can't comment.

Strangely my wife, a high school teacher, seemed to like it.

No one involved with he show, including Apple knows anything about creating apps. It was guaranteed to fail.

I never understood how the show sounded anything like a massive flop, I suppose they convinced themselves.

The show failed because:

Gary Vaynerchuk is annoying. Nobody can figure out what he does or why he thinks he is the man. Whenever his videos come up on social media I just hit the 'Report' button and choose the 'Spam' or 'Scam' option.

Gwyneth Paltrow is privileged out-of-touch rich chick who used her fame to build a brand that defrauds women and encourages women to be stupid by selling complete quackery like Jade Eggs to strengthen their vaginas.

Same as above with Jessica Alba. So far this casting is a disaster and would offend most real entrepreneurs who had no fame and worked to the bone from poverty.

Then we add Will.I.Am to the mix. Overexposed, overrated, overpaid, and has an annoying name.

The only way this show could have been a bigger failure would be to add Ashton Kutcher to the mix.

At least Ashton Kutcher actually fits the role of big muscle low IQ in that 70s show, kind of like Apple is in the business world. MAYBE it is exactly what the show is MISSSING? OMG Apple has Got it!

This show is really disturbing. Apple, please be careful and have better taste in quality content, or don't make content at all.

Apple's marketing may not have helped it, but the show sucked to begin with.

I don't think Apple has the ability to recognise or produce a good show/movie, they're waaaay too safe and mild-mannered to make anything even remotely interesting.

I can't stand her. I think she's a gigantic ****.

That guy is exhausting. Needs to relax a bit.

Exactly, I think some of what he says has value but he just drenches it with some over the top, wanna be alpha, obnoxious, know-it-all attitude. You can tell from all of his videos, he is not listening when anybody else talks, in fact he can't wait for the other person to stop talking. I'm like that too but I can hide it much better than he can. Its almost as if he is addicted to himself, he starts fidgeting, looking around, biting his nails.

I almost watched Planet of the Apps but I felt like it was a cheap re-make of shark tank and I really don't want to see a bunch of nerd's chasing a unicorn getting coddled by Jessica Alba, Gwenyth Paltrow, Gary V yelling life lessons and WillIAM being a D-grade Kanye. Vaynerchuck turned me off the most, so no it wasn't marketing Gary, nobody likes you (or cares) outside of your base of fans.

Interesting how Vaynerchuk references Jimmy Iovine without ripping him. Reading between the lines, it seems Vaynerchuk sensed Iovine's firm belief that the show was going to be an epic fail, but didn't really care (why else was Iovine absent from "the trenches").

It was a stupid concept to begin with, but funny that all the flavor aid addicts inside Apple couldn't be honest:

It just revealed Apple's desperation to be viewed as "helping" developers on their platform. There is no other plausible explanation for the show's existence.

I love it when Apple's ignorant arrogance generates an epic FAIL :)
[doublepost=1532407875][/doublepost]P.S. Way back in the early mobile days, Alba went "all in" on collecting a paycheck for advertising Windows Phone (yes Microsoft made a smartphone, which is buried in the grave next to Zune). The pups she squeezed also had voice bits in her "I'm a busy Mom" commercial:

Next She'll be hocking Android. She's a whore.

If the show was so bad as many people claim then why did the button pushers at Apple give it a Green Light? Because they have no clue as to what they are doing where Film Making is concerned. Typical Apple blunder and another failure to add to the growing list of dud's....just like that abysmal Home Pod. Stick to Computers and stop turning SJ's grave over again and again. Really!

1) This sounds like an incredibly boring idea. Airhead entertainers reviewing app ideas. Whoopee!
2) Even so, I’m an Apple Music subscriber and I didn’t know this was available. I pay pretty close attention to news about Apple. I had heard about this show beforehand, but I never heard it was available or how to view it.

No wonder it was a flop.

This is what happens when you lose sight of the main reason people watch TV - for entertainment.

Planet of the Apps isn't entertainment, it's an advert.

It was incredibly boring, the hosts were ****. I couldn't even make it through one episode

Unlike traditional TV where ratings are extrapolated, Apple actually know what the ratings are for this and exactly how much of each episode people watched.

I'd love to know the viewing figures for the latter episodes. I'd be surprised if it's even in the thousands.
