Oh, did that show finally come out? I'll have to remember not to watch it.
Apple probably has trouble finding partners for any entertainment concepts. No one wants to help a potential competitor that has a lot of money available to become more successful. It was a bad idea for a show. It bombed.
Another studio would’ve pulled the plug after the first episode. But Apple is still relatively new to this market. They would have been better off partnering with a major studio, and then branch off on their own.
the show sucked.
blame everyone except yourself
You got to have more than just a clever title.
The show failed because:
Gary Vaynerchuk is annoying. Nobody can figure out what he does or why he thinks he is the man. Whenever his videos come up on social media I just hit the 'Report' button and choose the 'Spam' or 'Scam' option.
Gwyneth Paltrow is privileged out-of-touch rich chick who used her fame to build a brand that defrauds women and encourages women to be stupid by selling complete quackery like Jade Eggs to strengthen their vaginas.
Same as above with Jessica Alba. So far this casting is a disaster and would offend most real entrepreneurs who had no fame and worked to the bone from poverty.
Then we add Will.I.Am to the mix. Overexposed, overrated, overpaid, and has an annoying name.
The only way this show could have been a bigger failure would be to add Ashton Kutcher to the mix.
That is totally true, but in this case Apple agreed to fund a show with a horrible title and a not-great concept. Just thinking about the name right now just makes me cringe. I wonder what Apple exec signed off on agreeing to green light the show and the name - they're both just so bad.
I don't see Apple ever releasing break-out hits, the way that Netflix, Hulu and HBO have done year after year, mainly because Apple would have to be ok with shows that push the limits and that just seems to go against most of what Apple represents at this point.
It should have been an intimate Docu-series on the most impactful apps on society and their stories of creation (ala Netflix's 'The Toys We Love').
Would have been a perfect homage to the App Store's 10-year impact on humanity.
