Seen some reports of high heat development in the Pro. Early adopters, what's your experience? Does it run hotter than the normal PS4s? How loud do the fans get when the unit heats up?

Yes, but only by design, nothing abnormal. Remember the dB meter test from earlier in the thread? This is the PS4 running Skyrim.

Again, ignore the max and peak. Bumping my phone around and such caused that. To put that difference in perspective from my experience, my old PS4 was silent, the PS4P can be heard if I mute the receiver and listen for it. It doesn't bother me at all.

A game that doesn't have Pro support is as quiet as the original PS4.

As far as heat goes it feels cooler then my old PS4 (that thing would get very hot) and the exhaust temp while their is more of it feels cooler. Almost like the fan could possibly be dialed back a little.
[doublepost=1479436151][/doublepost]Rejoice nerds! Bethesda teased the next Fallout 4 update (1.12 was released today) would be for PS4P support.

I've been waiting to complete Automaton (one quest left) and start Nuka World for Pro support. I just wish I wouldn't have beat the main game every possible way it could be beaten so I could get more hours out of that game.

Remote play PS4Pro->MacPro is pretty good at 1080p. Colors are crisp and vibrant. Latency is not too bad either.
Remote play PS4Pro->PSTV(aka VitaTV) is still crap. Still limited to 720p, colors/contrast are still dull and washed out, and latency is noticeable and severely limiting for most of the games I play.

Based on this, I decided to not sell my old PS4 for now and put it in the bedroom replacing the remote play PSTV. This will allow me to play games when living room TV where Pro lives is occupied. Only frustrating thing with 2nd PS4 is managing game saves is not automatic on 2nd console, unlike primary console. I'll have to manually save/retrieve game saves to cloud storage. A minor inconvenience to have best performance on games in two rooms.

While tempting to sell my old PS4 now to maximize return value, I don't really expect resale value to drop more than $50 over the next 6-12 months. I figure if I get even 50 extra hours of gaming out of having 2nd PS4 over that time, it's totally worth it. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to play, but living room was occupied and didn't want to remote play because of latency performance reduction. 2nd PS4 solves this.

If I don't get much gaming out of it in 6 months, I'll trade the old PS4 towards a Nintendo Switch. :)

I think the resale value depends on the adoption of the Pro and when the Scorpio debuts, now gamers have the options of both consoles in comparison to what they want. And if the Scorpio debuts in March, The Pro might see a brief sale to sway the customer. I'm willing to wager after the holidays, the original PS4 will easily drop to $100.00 or less, which theoretically is just over a month.

Private resale, maybe you might make a little more. But I think I maximized my original PS4's value and GameStop had a decent offer. I think @Cnasty got as much as you can for private resale with $175.00.

Did you hear/read the Scorpio may come out in March? I haven't been following it but I read it was due out for the holidays 2017. So I was expecting a year from now.

I stand corrected. Last rumor I heard was during the E3 Conference back in June, with a March 2017 release date. I wasn't aware that changed for the 2017 Holiday release.

The question is do I add the Scorpio in addition to my Pro?

I've heard as much as $200 private sale, but $180 is more within expectation. Scorpio is not coming out in March, it's coming out Holiday 2017 (confirmed by M$), or a full year away. I don't expect PS4Pro adoption to be high just yet by that fact that it is in stock everywhere. If it were in high demand, it'd be sold out everywhere like the NES system. However, 4K TV adoption is starting to pick up, so expect PS4Pro to pickup steam too by middle of next year. I expect PS4Pro will get a bundled game included in about 6 months or less which will help drive sales. I expect a $50 price drop on new PS4Pros and PS4s in a year to complete against Scropio.

Bottom line, I don't expect a used PS4 to ever be worth less than $120-150 (private sale) anytime soon.

I mentioned to another forum member, at the E3 conference, it was originally rumored the Scorpio was to be released in March 2017. Not sure when Microsoft confirmed this, but the Holiday 2017 makes the most sense.

As far as the Pro availability, yes, it's available, but; when you factor not everyone has a 4K/HDR TV, which is one the main partnerships with the Pro, naturally it may slow down the sales, being its costly and newer technology that most haven't adopted yet. Bundling a game isn't the answer to sell the Pro, because it depends on the game. If Sony wants to sway the consumer, then the price drop would be the most obvious decision. That said, by the time the Scorpio does release, the Pro will have a strong footing with newer titles under their wing.

Trade in value for the PS4 is steady for now, even for trade, which it's worth it. Private resale is Varied at best. My assumption after the holidays, once trade in value declines, the Private resale will plummet with it.

And the NES and Pro really can't be compared to each other in terms of sales. There are way to many differing variations. The NES is popular, but factor price point, age demographic target, lack there of HD/Available games. Also, the NES is attempting to bring back where it once Was, with a new twist. So it has heritage behind it. The Pro is expanding to new heights gaming and partnering with 4K. Both systems offer a completely different experience.

Are you talking trade in value at Gamestop?

Used ones are hard to keep in stock at $270...

When the XBox One S came out and the PS4 Pro was announced, the price at trade in for PS4's went to $125 (people willing to switch over to get a 4k UHD Drive). There is a special right now for $150, but I think it is only until Dec. 31.

The price of the PS4 Slim is still $300, and will be $249 this holiday season. Sony may or may not keep it that price in January.

It would be a big mistake if they keep it at $300 - a bit expensive compared to the XBox One S.

The $150.00 trade in for the Original PS4 ends after Christmas, at my local Gamespot. I mentioned this is in another post. Likely to see value at or around between $100.00-$125.00. Knowing how frugal GameStop is, I would guess lowest dollar.

Screw Gamestop! Apart from occasionally decent console trade in specials, their prices are not competitive. Game trade in value is crap, used game prices are barely cheaper then full retail prices on newish games, they charge full retail for new games, they sell opened games as new, and their member points program is a joke. I don't see how they can compete against Best Buy and Amazon Prime prices. The only thing that store has going for it is it's dedicated to games and some (but not all) have knowledgable sales staff.

I'd rather take $25 less trade in credit at Best Buy on a PS4 because I know I can get WAY more value out of my trade in credit at BB over GS.

Yes, agreed PS4Pro demand is low. I was not trying to compare NES and Pro in terms of sales, only providing an analogy on supply vs demand.

PS4Pro will most assuredly bundle with the next Gran Turismo game, where Sony will pull out all the stops to bring the best 4k/HDR experience to the Pro:
http://www.alphr.com/games/1002182/...ismo-sport-will-get-4k-hdr-and-vr-mode-on-ps4

I won't argue over PS4 resale values. It will depreciate for sure, we simply agree to disagree by how much after the holidays.

Agreed, GameStop is horribly inconsistent with knowledge and they hire anyone who puts in an application. It doesn't take much to realize how GameStop is managed. I have one store in my area that actually has experience in what they are talking about. GameStop however, has the midnight releases, which a lot of gamers still line up for and GameStop rakes in the crowds for big titles. I give them credit for that and it's a brilliant way of marketing that "We have it first."

And the supply versus demand with the NES/Pro, has differences in price points and a target demographic. Those are the two major advantages over the Pro as stated previously, if one considers those advantages.

Does anybody have the Pro and the PSVR? My PSVR worked perfectly with my PS4 however with the Pro, the audio and video will drop out. This happens with the headset on :( I hope my pro isn't faulty :(

I have been using this consistently over my XB1S since I got it last week as I am running through my backlog and I am thoroughly enjoying this beast.

I will say I havent challenged it yet as I have only been playing the likes of Gone Home, Journey, and Resogun. All 3 of those are fantastic games that I am waaaaaaay behind on but glad I am catching up somewhat.

I never ever buy new games as my backlog is gigantic but hoping to catch some good black friday deals on "new" to me games such as Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted Series, and any other big PS4 exclusives.

Ratchet and Clank is a must have, and really shows off the PS4P's 4K muscles.

My PS4P is making a horrible noise, like a worn out old fan kind of noise. This thing is barely used. I backed it up and it's going back :(

Are you exchanging it for a new one?

Yes, but I'm buying it from another store which offers a no questions asked 2Yr replacement plan for $50. I originally bought it from Best Buy. Their plan is $60 but they send it out for repair.

As I mentioned before, my PS4P runs quite hot. I do wonder if the fan is not performing as it should. The noise has to be the fan. If I tap on it, the pitch of the noise changes.

Darksiders Warmastered Edition on PS4. Supports PS4 Pro full native 4k and great frame rate. Its a great action adventure and well worth the $20 on PSN.

It makes this noise even without a disc in the system? Running idle?

Cause the disc will spin down since it loads it off the HDD after it authenticates the game in there-- at least that's what it sounds like

--

I just picked up Bloodborne for $15 at target, and Little Big Planet 3 for $10 from gamestop-- both early black friday deals. Neither are Pro compatible, just regular ps4, but I've been on a trip with exclusives

hearing excellent things about Bloodborne, but mixed things about Little Big Planet. Never played that series so I wonder if I made a mistake but I guess $10 isn't too much

No disc in the drive. I first noticed it when a game (digital) was running, and heard it again when I was backing it up to get it ready to exchange.

I recorded a video of it making the noise. Will post it when I get a chance.

Just ordered a PS4 Pro to replace my artic white PS4, the Destiny bundle one.

I think I got a pretty good deal, ordered from Target today so I got 15% off, plus my other discounts and a few gift cards put me about $275 out of pocket.

I play mostly on a 1080p screen at the moment but I like the idea of having the best possible expereince.

Anyone else with a pro playing on a 1080p monitor or TV? Just interested in general impressions.

Figures I rush out and sell my PS4 for $175 and then Gamestop did the 50% more on trade ins AND the PS4 Pro is having big price cuts everywhere.

I will never learn to not be an early adopter but the tech addiction always wins!!!!

Add to that, I havent turned it on in about a week as I am enjoying my XB1S much much more.

I had a good run with my Ps4 pro since day one for $360 with a 10% target coupon,

I saw it dip on Amazon to like $340+tax, not at all upset about the $20 price difference considering I got a solid few weeks of non stop enjoyment out of it. Time is money

I would never pay retail for a system, though.

I got mine with the Target deal as well with the wish list 10% and 5% red card so yea, $360. With that being said there are better deals out there now and I havent turned my PS4 on in a week or so. That's my own decision though. :)

yeah you can't predict these things, it just as easily could have not been discounted for a good while- like how I believe xb1 and ps4 were at launch for a while,

theres a bunch of games i bought that were $20, that are now $10 in best cases and sometimes $15, and its ok. I will live

The only price cut I saw was no more than $20.00. I'm still glad I traded my original PS4 when I did, because my GameStop seems to be receiving a lot of used PS4's. And the $150.00 trade in ends in three weeks (In my
Area.)
