Who's? Mine? If I had it plugged in for a short time and didn't let it charge completely, it would say that the iPhone has been plugged in since last charge. It doesn't say that at all on mine.

If you don't let it charge completely, it doesn't reset your usage/standby information, and will just keep adding up your usage stats until it is fully recharged.

Yes it will but it will also state in that same screen that the iPhone has been plugged in since the last charge so that you know those stats aren't accurate. Mine doesn't say that because it is accurate. It has not been plugged in since the last charge.

I usually get about two days on a full charge with between 6-10 hrs usage. Those stats only began happening about 5 days after I got the iPhone. The first few days were horrible, I charged the iPhone every night.

I have had mine since launch and well you see my stats

well I do,I start work a 6am so that when I take it off the charger.....make a few calls around 8 am with all services turned off...then some light internet use...then by about noon or so im at 20% thats why you see it in the picture I had to charge it again at work....then took it off around 2:30pm or so and talked my whole way home in traffic and there you see the screen shot....there is no way I should talk for 3 hours and its goes to 20% when some screen shots have people with longer talk times and triple the standby time

Well, Apple claims 10hours of call time on edge. If you're only getting 3 hours on edge and you're already at 20%, that would tell me you have a crap battery and are deserving of a replacement.

But as far as I'm concerned, the iPhone 3G has a smaller battery than the original iPhone. I have tried turning my iPhone 3G into a first gen by turning off all the new features and the battery life still doesn't come close to the 2 days I used to get out of that phone, even after a year of use!

Maybe the 2.0 software just sucks that bad and it's not really a hardware problem to begin with? That is another theory I'm working on. My sister has a original iPhone with the 2.0 software, but she is on vacation. I need to compare her usage times to mine to test my theories, lol.

Well, i hesitate to re-post this 'cause the OP might just lose it, but ....

Wifi off, Location svcs off, BT off, everything else on. I am in 3G coverage for most of the day. I'm using Exchange push and get ~50 messages/day. Snapped this on the subway where there's no coverage.

Your battery is definitely bad, there's no point in testing it with the screen set to 25%. Plus, you're only on EDGE.

BTW, it usually lasts around/over a hour once you hit 20%.

Are you in any location for an extended period of time that gets very low signal or no service at all? That causes the cell radio to use more juice to try and maintain a signal. Low to no signal is a HUGE battery drainer.

Well I think I have a defective battery,I see some people on here with 10-11 hours of standby time and I have never gotten that at all. Let me first say I have push, and location services, and 3g off!!! and these are the times I get after a full charge. and yes I did do the batter calibration, yet still bad results.....this is after me using 3g for a little and talking my whole way home.

I think I need to return mine like R-Fly....Just wanted to get a gage of every bodies battery usage so I could see if I should take mine back.....what do you guys and gals think?

I cant even get threw a whole day at work:(

How do you have 36 days in Lifetime in Call Time when the 3G has been out for less than 30 days. Does it rollover from a previous phone?

How is it possible for lifetime to be 36 hours. Did you restore from old iphone? If so I'd recommend you send the contacts to your computer, and fully restore the phone without restoring back from backup, but as a new phone then manually add the settings as to how you had before... and I will assure you phone will not crash as frequently and battery will last longer. If not, return the phone.

I took my iPhone 3G off the charger at 6:45am this morning when my alarm went off. I did not attach it to a computer or charger all day - first charge was to sync the screenshots. Usually, my phone is at 1/4 battery by 6:30PM when I get off work. I've been amazed all day and I am wondering if the battery meter is somehow not calibrated. But Saturday, as usual, the meter was at 1/4 remaining by 6:30PM and 20% warning by the time I plugged it in at night.

The settings today were:

WiFi: Off
3G: On
Location Services: Off
Push: On, without MobileMe setup
Bluetooth: Off
Brightness: Screenshot attached.

I turned WiFi off yesterday to check dslreports' 3G speed test in my house and forgot to turn it back on.

I always have 3G on, that's why I upgraded to the iPhone 3G. I am a service technician so I drive around San Diego all day. There are a few spots without 3G.

I turned location services off this morning before work because I still get asked if Apps can use my location with it on. I'm not sure what location services are actually used for if it's not a global authorization.

I haven't set up my MobileMe because of all the issues and the fact that I cant reply using my personal address. Therefore, I'm still using my Dreamhost email and checking manually, so I'm not sure if Push is really doing anything.

I've attached my screen brightness page. I didn't realize auto was off until I saw the screenshot. I thought auto-brightness was supposed to improve battery life anyway. I'll keep it off while I check my results tomorrow.

I don't know if something's wrong, but again I made a few changes recently (mentioned above) and my battery life has been amazing all day.

I turned WiFi back on this evening when I went to use Apple's Remote App, everything else will remain the same and I will see what happens tomorrow.

These results were crazy, so I want to verify tomorrow.

The settings tomorrow will be:

WiFi: On
3G: On
Location Services: Off
Push: On, without MobileMe setup
Bluetooth: Off
Brightness: Screenshot attached.

I have no reason to photoshop.

If it makes you feel better I've attached the screenshot since I charged tonight. I'm telling you, I think my battery meter has gone whack.

As I said, until today I've been at 1/4 battery by 6:30PM every day since I bought the iPhone 3G and I seriously think the calibration between the meter and battery may be messed up, a sync or full charge may correct that tonight or I may need to drain the battery completely - SuperMonkeyBall should accomplish that nice and quick.

Several days I've had to recharge when I got home from work to make it through the evening. So take the screenshots as you will, my battery life sucked until I made a few changes yesterday and this morning.

As a side note, I was trying the trick suggested in a recent thread here to quit sending crash reports to Apple which will supposedly get rid of the 30+ minute backups. All the plugging in and unplugging and switching from manual sync to auto sync and unplug and plug again, ad nauseam... is what I think may have thrown my battery meter off. I had to do it several times before I got the "Send Crash reports" screen again and it still took 45 minutes to backup tonight.

Also, much of my time on the iPhone today was spent reading. So I load a page and read it - not really downloading very much. I talked about 30 minutes today.

If I get the same results tomorrow, I will take a photo with a digital camera at a strange angle or something to prove my results. I've reset the statistics so I can tell how much I download and talk tomorrow.

Lots of experimentation. And yes I RESET my call time for 1 & 3. 5 hours 1 minute usage was babysitting (using Airplane Mode at night) on 3G. 7 hours 6 minutes was 3G OFF. WiFi ON. 6 hours 38 minutes was 3G OFF. Location OFF. Minimal WiFi.

I don't know...I backed up my data from my original iphone...then when I got home I just synced it when I got the new one.....so I don't know....

that 3 hours and stuff was just on the freeway..on the way home stuck in traffic....in the san fran, bay area 3g coverage is pretty good. My iphone has been this way since day 1. I'm just trying to see if others are having this same problem......and its amazing to see some people here with 10-15 hours of standby is amazing to me......

I bet those people with 15 hours standy don't sit on the phone for 3 hours straight either.

Here's one of mine form this weekend. Everything was turned on all day. I had to use the web a lot to learn about the beer I was pouring at a Brewer's Festival.

My question is, couldn't people cheat at this game? I mean if I just charged it a little instead of fully charging it wouldn't the usage jsut continue to grow?
