Thanks for this. So I can stop checking then since it’s definitely not going to be here tomorrow.
Yeah that’s my feeling too. I know things might be different for me seeing as I’m on the south west coast of Canada and it seems illogical it would go to Kentucky after Alaska, but the chance anything will happen by tomorrow is an impossibility. I’m predicting apple is the more accurate date which at least is still this week. Wednesday isn’t miles off so that’s something.

If I’m being honest, while I’m upset about the delays, my biggest frustration is this bouncing around of dates. If it was a small company I was buying something from, I wouldn’t care. But this is apple. Either they underestimated demand by leagues or just didn’t care that things would be tough and considering how antsy we all about getting the phone I think it’s the latter.

Apple could have delayed things. They could have fixed their system to not screw us up down left and right in the purchasing process. In Canada they went with paybright and screwed everyone over by having a 24 month, 0% APR financing option the week before launch which reverted to 6 months just days before and then back to 24 the morning of, and paybright massively screwed the pooch with not having servers which could handle even a fraction of the traffic they got.

The amount of time and energy (which to be fair is my own doing but still) to get this sorted is sky high. I know I get obsessive and this was no exception, but this nebulous state we are left in sure doesn’t help. At all.

Well for all of us still in limbo, I feel and share in your pain. In the end I know it’s just a phone, but considering it’s an extension of my being in many ways, it’s a vital tool to keep (and damage?) my sanity… especially right now. Here’s hoping tomorrow at least gives us new information. At this point I’ll take something. Although I said that just before we went into “preparing for clearance” hell, too

Did your delivery date change several times? UPS is still saying it will be here tomorrow. But according to tracking it’s in China still

Yes, it said shipped on early the 25th, but sat at 4 days in airport. My UPS delivery first said Saturday check back on Sunday. Then it said delivers Tuesday the 28th. But no movement and it sat at that date all the way through end of day on 28th and then moved to new estimate of 30th on morning of 29th and the phone had also shipped out with that red marked scan. Apple said October 1 and this point. It sat at that until morning of 30th when my phone was in town and delivers today

Phone sitting “cleared” since the 29th. Apple still says a 10/5 delivery date but I’d imagine things would have been moving to make that. I’m expecting 10/7-10/8 for delivery at this point.

Mine is still in the same boat; no updates since 9/30.

UPS shows delivery tomorrow.

Apple says 10/5.

Tomorrow would be doable if it’s on a flight soon, but I’m doubtful for that.

8hr flight to Anchorage plus a flight to Louisville. Then 2hrs to Dallas and out to sort from there.

Not to say it’s impossible, but highly improbable.

Friends, if you are planning on trading in your current iPhone for the 13 pro max, I urge you not to check the status page from that trade in device, as you may end up smashing it to 1000 pieces when you see yet another day with the “clearance in progress” message. I could have walked/swam to China by now and cleared the damn phone myself in this amount of time, Apple is putting on a master class clinic on how to frustrate their customers to the extreme at this point.

A big part of me is debating on utilizing my applecare after I throw my phone across the ocean to China! 😭

Over the last several years in doing this the lack of updates is very typical. Usually they don't update until the pallet is broken down. You'll likely see a bunch of updates all at once and suddenly UPS is actually right.

Give it time.

Apple wouldn’t let any of us walk out of their stores without paying. Why do they think it’s okay to charge us before the device even ships when there are delays like this with no answers?
Charged overnight a week ago, AppleCare+ subscription charged last Wednesday, clock is running. If someone knew a realistic timeline it would be one thing, but no one at Apple or UPS can tell me what is going on or when my phone will get here. Adding to the frustration, I was online the second pre-ordering started and had about 6 errors in the ordering process, two of which went through (had to cancel one of them), while others who ordered days later already have their devices. This will be the last time I pre-order from Apple.

What company doesn't charge you when a product they're selling you is shipped, which it has? They've entered UPS' hands.

None of this is atypical for this process.

Where is the product then? They have no answers, other than wait. When others charge and ship, it’s always there or they take care of it some way. They should only charge when it’s en route, not when it’s in China. It’s not a good system.

Quite right. Each iPhone is in its own box, with its own label. It cannot be scanned until that pallet is broken down. So no updates until an individual scan is performed. It can take 30 minutes for the system to update once a package is scanned. At least that's how long it takes at FedEx. I assume we use the same or similar system of inventory control. Its not rocket science - its moving packages from one place to another.

No that’s where I’ll say no on this. I’ve never ordered something and had it sit for close to a week with zero movement and no one being able to confirm anything.

Our applecare coverage is already going. Mine ends on the 27th of September in 2023. Yeah it’s maybe just a week until we get it, but that’s still ridiculous. I have to contact apple again to get yet another trade in box because of their poor fulfillment process.

And I do get that yes when an item ships you’re charged, but to be stuck in limbo for so long and having the charge be SO damn much - it’s bananas.

I would be much, much more accepting if there was more communication, and if I wasn’t getting endlessly conflicting data. That has been the biggest frustration and nothing like this that I’ve experienced before. Adding this into the other issues with just ordering the damn device - it’s been an idiotic process.

Agreed the whole thing is a mess… I do know one thing that may ease a bit of your frustration with the applecare part at least, you can call Apple when you receive the phone and they will reset that applecare date for you no problem (still a hassle that you have to make one more call). I intend to do this for sure, no way I'm gonna let a week or two of my warranty get eroded in their favor over this debacle.

Strange that it looks like my UPS tracking all just updated overnight….it looks like it’ll be tomorrow but that’s still a day early.

Again y’all need to relax a bit. You’re still getting the phone before Apple had initially promised it. You’re just impatient. Nevermind the fact that the supply chain is an absolute disaster right now too and Apple still is pulling this off.

That doesn’t follow how the risk actually passes for a device. Just because it’s still in China but with UPS doesn’t mean it’s not en route. The shipping terms are likely FOB shipping point so the risk of loss is on UPS not Apple so they charge when it’s out of their hands.

Your expectations are just ridiculously high in the current environment especially.

From what I can find on FlightAware, it appears our phones are going to Incheon potentially before moving on to Anchorage.

We’ll see if we get another scan soon or if it’s a stop off flight for fuel as the flight is landing in Incheon right now.

Excited for movement again!

I’m seeing UPS99 as the best potential flight for us, leaving Incheon in 90 minutes for Anchorage.

Fingers crossed!

Just got a scan notification that it arrived in Korea. So you are correct.

Mine just landed in Incheon and my delivery date was updated from 10/4 to 10/5.

How are you guys tracking UPS packages via Flightaware?

When you get that Departure scan, I search CGO to ANC UPS today and then look for inflight UPS planes.

Then you look at the departure city of Zhengzhou near the time of your scan (usually 20-45 minutes later) and see where it goes, which is typically Incheon or straight to Anchorage.

FlightAware is the website.
