pod2G's untethered jailbreak released

Im on untethered 4.3.3 jailbreak, if i update to official 5.0.1 via itunes then jb with the latest redsnow, will i lose my sms, contacts and stuffs? Also, i dont need an unlock since i think my ip4 is openline, thanks!
 
I saw a tweet by Pod2g yesterday about a rush for the iBooks fix. I thought i'd be included within the redsn0w untethered version...guess just gonna have to wait for it. damn! i love being on 5.0 now! notification center/reminders/tweeting photos from native camera! i love this! and i'm jailbroken! it was all worth the wait! those long hard 2 months!

well you can update in iTunes, then do a restore from backup to get your contacts, music, etc. back. You could also update, then set up as new, and then tell iTunes to sync your contacts, music, photos, etc. back to the phone.

Oh ok! So 1) by updating via itunes, its normal that it will erase everything on the phone then 2) retrieve it through our backup.. 3) then jailbreak....but how about our cr@ck3d apps, our achievements, highscores for ex. angry birds? sorry lots of questions.. :/

I was going to help until I saw this.
 
game data i believe is stored when you backup your phone, but i've never had any of my game saves transfer across updates. For some reason I always have to start over.

As far as cracked apps.. we aren't really supposed to discuss, but you will need to reinstall those on the device.

Themes, tweaks, extensions from cydia are not backed up unless you have some type of backup installed from cydia.

mm.. i got my phone @ 4.3.3, uses it for about a month before i restore it via itunes to sort of clean it, then i jailbreak using redsnow, and eventually all of my sms, contacts and apps were re-sync...
 
jailnbreaked my iPhone4.....went smoothly........no problems so far

oops sorry about that! btw, i found a way to backup and restore my game progress/save via iphone explorer, cut and paste of necessary files...ok ill stop talking about jack sparrow now! hint: appsync
 
Rumour has it that that Apple just pushed out a 5.0.2 update. Any truth to this? I was planning on finally activating my 4S tonight, and don't want to miss the window to update to 5.0.1.

Anyone seeing a 5.0.2 out there yet?

We know as much as you do. Until we see a beta or release of 5.0.2, we know nothing!

Good catch. I didn't think of there being a beta before it goes out, just a quick fix to an exploit, and it goes out. That was also making me think that Apple knew about the exploit and was already patching it, and this was just a race to see who would get to the finish line first.

Thanks for reminding me of the beta windows!

Im using an iphone with a 10.04.01 baseband right now with my local network, i read there is no unlock for this, so it means im safe to jb to 5.0.1 yes? Because if just means i dont need an unlock? i just want to make sure before i hit that update button, thanks!

They won't beta test a 5.0.x update. That will be pushed right out the door.
 
Error When Trying to Do the Restore part while jailbreaking

Hey guys, I just began jailbreaking my iPhone 4 using iClarified's tutorial. I downloaded the things they told me to, RedSn0w and the iPhone Restore thing. While I was restoring it said there was an error? I was on 4.3.1 and had the original baseband (1.59) I believe. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Figured it out. Thanks anyway.

What kind of idiot moron pirates apps less than a bloody DOLLAR? Jailbreakers are asinine, spend hundreds on a phone, dont pay for applications made by hard working developers. Go back to Linux if you are so stingy with money.
