As others have stated, its not you. The servers are melting right now. I just tried to login to Cydia just to see if there were any updates to my packages and I got the same screen.

I was going to update to 5.0.1 and jailbreak tonight but looks like that ain't happening.

Honestly, you're okay with not upgrading yet anyway. Cydia won't let me install hardly any apps with my iPhone on 5.0.1 because they are not compatable with my OS version :(

dont do it! 4.2.8 was the best ios version ever! i sooo regret updating.

why is that?

Hey guys, I just began jailbreaking my iPhone 4 using iClarified's tutorial. I downloaded the things they told me to, RedSn0w and the iPhone Restore thing. While I was restoring it said there was an error? I was on 4.3.1 and had the original baseband (1.59) I believe. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Figured it out. Thanks anyway.

Hope you saved that baseband! iPhone 4's with the 1.59 baseband are worth BANK! Before apple released the unlocked iphone 4 they used to go for over $1,000 on ebay. now they are less but still really expensive.

What kind of idiot moron pirates apps less than a bloody DOLLAR? Jailbreakers are asinine, spend hundreds on a phone, dont pay for applications made by hard working developers. Go back to Linux if you are so stingy with money.

Yes asians collect their pocket moeny for almost 1-2 years to collect 1000 $$ to purchase the same iphone that you get for 500 $$ and even afyer paying this much premium ( just bcoz he is an asian ) you expect them to pay for apps too... when the reality is these jailbreaks are the invention of west...

Some people don't jailbreak to pirate, you know... I have bought hundreds from the App store/iTunes and I still will. I just want more than Apple deems acceptable to the general public. Accusations of piracy for all jail breakers will be looked on poorly by most in this forum :roll eyes:

Truth! I jailbreak for the mods, for the apps that apple rejected and to get apps that aren't in my localized app store.

Was just wondering how much space the gestures might take up if any and if I could remove them.

So far it's been ok but I've experienced my first 3 dropped calls ever on my iPhone.

Also, my volume buttons don't mute the ringer when an incoming call is coming in.

Oh ? The gestures are a setting. You can toggle them off or on. The space is in the kilobytes so don't worry.

3 dropped calls is disturbing but I am noticing less bars after this update so there may be something to that. We shall see.

And lastly, the sleep button now controls the mute function. A better way in my opinion as the volume buttons already have a purpose and the sleep button does not when the device is locked

Yeah i just want the Jailbreak for the customizing and things like unlimited folders to house all my paid apps.

I want all the cool custom themes and such to make my phone unique to me which is something they should just let us do anyway .

Hopefully the 4s JB does not take another 6 months or longer but if it does oh well something to look forward to :).

You iPhone 4 guys are lucky to have JB but my 4s is a beast and i would not trade it for all the tea in china ;).

Im on my local network provider at 10.04.01 baseband (not unlock i guess), i read upgrading to 5.0.1 changes the baseband to 11.xx.xx, am i safe upgrading? thanks!

I was having a problem getting MyWi back on my phone after the jailbreak. I may have this slightly confusing in my explanation as I did this a few hours ago and just tried it by chance.

I tried to download, it asked if I wanted to que it up, so I did. Then when it is quad up I believe I clicked install, this time if I remember right, it had two options, install, and clear. I clicked on clear. It cleared it out. I then went to MyWi and clicked on install and it worked fine. I am guessing this will work for most of the apps that were not installing.

Hopefully I explained it well enough that someone else can do it and explain it better than I did.

Try Googling 'itunes error 2'
but it's so much easier for me to ask the question, let someone else google it, and then post the answer for me. ;)

Haha the number of questions people ask that would be answered by clicking on the first link of a google search is astounding. Crazy these people know how to join internet forums to ask questions but they can't type in google.com

Still can't get my apps

But on a serious note i'm thankful for the JB and will patiently wait.. :D

Any idea why none of the HD themes from Cydia won't download? Is it because it's getting slammed?

It says "POSIX: Operation timed out"

It is because it's after 9:am EST in America, and all the workers with iPhone 4 or iPhone 3s have gone to their jobs, settled in, and are jailbreaking 5.0.1 today, untethered for the first time.. there will be no productivity in the U.S. today other than reloading apps from Cydia servers (sorry Jay!):p:cool:

Yes, it is Off Topic. As a 65816, I assume you are familiar with the search feature? As if these threads don't get polluted enough.

it's a good thing we have people like you to help out and make this place more user friendly.

Why may I ask are you even perusing this thread? You already seem to be way past the beginner stage. I guess just looking for someone to put down so you can feel better about yourself?

You accuse some of polluting threads, but you're not really adding to the discussion, just adding more negativity. If anything, you recognized someone as polluting a thread - yet your doing the same thing. I think the forum would be a much better place if the regulars were not such jerks. If your intention was to really help, it could be done with much less arrogance and vinegar.

I know you're going to report me. because you can't take any criticism. I know I'll be banned for a few days while you soothe your wounded ego.

What did you do to fix it? I'm anticipating the same issue since I'm on 4.1 w/ 1.59.00 BB myself. Thanks!
