I think this will be the biggest game ever to hit mobile. The concept is brilliant. My kids already want to get outside and start searching. Nothing like turning an obsession with Pokemon into a reason to travel, explore and exercise.

I think it will be released on US store today, after all Australia is ahead of us in time zone.

So I just captured a wild pokemon ... tossing a ball at it, and got it. Wait ... is that ALL this game is ?!?! I thought there was battles!

That's primarily what it is. Battles are secondary. It's about exploring the REAL world. Want a forest Pokemon? You literally have the go visit a forest/park. Same with water. I'm interested to see what a Pokemon are going to be attached to famous landmarks or other historical monuments.

I wonder who's going to be the first person to go around the world and collect them all.

I got the direct link to the APK for an Android device. Loaded it up, registered and realized. The nearest Pokemon was 2 blocks away. Don't exactly want to go out at night playing.

Hopefully the iOS version comes out before my walk to work tomorrow.

Sideloading, such a great feature.

Well, I guess I was under the impression there would be fun. Just going around collecting **** is totally pointless and boring.

It's not supposed to.

That is exactly it. If you're expecting the same experience as the Nintendo games you're going to be completely disappointed. If you're looking for a quick game you can have open while you're traveling around the city or walking with friends, it fits the bill perfectly. The collecting aspect is quite addicting.

It took a couple years for Ingress to get fully ironed out. This is already looking better than Ingress did after a year, IMO. I can't wait to see what they do with it in the future.

Well, it's more important than Apple's prehistorically outdated, absurdly over priced computers.
Watch bands, streaming *rap, emojis and Pokemons are where it's at mon.
Please try to keep up. /s
This is how much the Apple and Macrumors have rotted.

Shame this is infected by IAP. Same with the new Square Enix game. I refuse to play these games anymore. Hoping the mobile gaming industry changes course soon and returns to pay-once games (or ethical/cosmetic-only microtransactions). There would be good gameplay potential in many of these sorts of games if not for the IAP model dragging them down.

When gameplay decisions take a back seat to greed, gamers just end up getting fleeced for a crippled-by-design game.

So disappointed by most of the gaming industry these days. :(

Pokemon should not be trapped and forced to fight for our amusement.

This is not only unethical, but many Pokemon species have been over-collected to satisfy demand in Asian markets. With the combined pressures of habitat loss, many are now on the verge of extinction.

Please, if you do see Pokemon in the wild, just leave them be.

So far I've caught about 5 Pokemon around me, but there's these pokestops where you can stock up on supplies, but are about a 10 minute walk from me. Too dark and cold outside. :p
Overall I think the app is ok. The fact that you have walk around to find Pokemon could get annoying, but you can use an Incense from your backpack to attract them to your surrounding area. Catching Pokemon is an exercise at first as the game never tells you how to do it as there is no battle between you/your Pokemon and a wild Pokemon. All you do is throw your pokeball at it and you have to time your throw to an on-screen circle/prompt and cross your fingers. I'm a level 2 but apparently at level 5 you can enter a gym, so we'll see what happens there.

I'll stick to the main games thanks. (Currently playing through White 2 and Heart Gold again)
