Maybe not everyone thinks that the iP4/4S is a great looking phone. My roommate has the 3GS still and doesn't want to upgrade to the current design. Everyone has their own opinions. If I was to compare iP4 to SSGS3 how they feel in the hand, I have to say that for MYSELF, the SSGS3 feels much nicer and easier to hold on to/work with than the 4 ever did for me.

That's not what I was saying nor was it what I was responding too. If people don't like the current design, fine. But there's no need to redesign every year for the sake of making it look different. Ive has said as much.

One never knows till Apple releases it.

While I really hope it's not this stretched, narrow, slab sided mockup we've been seeing. Yet we've seen so much of it, this may be the one.

If it is, something's wrong with J Ive. He's a world class designer, I simply can't fathom that this design is his.

I've admired every style Apple has created.

But this? It's just obscenely ugly. No way will I buy one.

I'm 98% sure that will not be the iPhone 5. It's silly, ugly, and useless, which Apple has a very clear design philosophy against.

If it's thinner, it is not. Think about it: what is more diffecult to hold? A stone with a thickness of 10 cm but is only 0.5 cm wide? Or a stone with a thickness of 1 cm but is 5 cm wide.

Anyone would prefer the second one - yet it is thicker. It's about how it fits in the hands.

And besides, Apple could have done something with the bezel on the side (so the phone wouldn't become bigger).

I don't think thinner is easier to hold. My thin nexus is forever slippign out of my hands, even with a rubberized case (especially as it's so wide...). I don't know what I'm going to do, but so far I have much more faith in Apple design than Samsung / Google.

I can't see Ive choosing that design out of the hundreds he must have had on his table to compare.

Apple is a market leader in design, a squashed 4s doesn't seem right.

personally i feel S III design is ugly.No ugly is not the right word lets say cheap.
But then again i dont like designs by apple too for their phones.

Allegedly the reason for it is to reach a 16:9 aspect ratio.

I understand that, still doesn't make any sense. What's the primary reason for 16:9, to watch video. Where does watching video fit into a smartphone? Well down the list for me. Sure, I watch video on my phone. But certainly not nearly enough to design the form factor around it. It would make much more sense on a tablet, not a phone. Compromise everything else in usability to make video better doesn't' make any sense.
