I switched after my Dell crashed losing the OS, and Microsoft refused to accept the key.

I went 5 months just using the family PC until I had gotten my parents to accept letting me get an iMac as a Christmas, Birthday and Confirmation gift.

Been happy ever since.

Microsoft, in order to get me to fully switch back (I do use Boot Camp) would have to make an absolutely killer music software that I can't get or simulate under OS X or Bootcamp.

Did you recently switch from PC to Mac? Within the last 12 months that is.

It's been one year for me and I am loving the Mac it's hands down the best computer I have ever owned.

Not enough options in the poll. What if the computer you switched from was not a Windows PC or if your first Mac was not an Apple II?

One question for you: "When did you stop producing kiddie porn?" Just give a straight answer, what was the date? See there are unanserable questions. You don't want those in polls

I started using computers back when the IBM 360 was King then moved to UNIX and CDC "super computers". The IBM PC and Apple II came later. Back when PCs and Macs had floppy disks and DOS was popular I had a 21" color monitor and a mouse and my Sun Workstaionwas on the Internet in the 80's. Then with Mac OS X at about "Panther" Macs finally came up to the level I'd been used to using. I pretty much avoided to whole PC thing.

Currently I'm using Linux, Mac OS X and Solaris about equality. The Mac at home for Aperure, Photoshop and Final Cut and the Linux and Solaris machne for software development (for rocket and spacecraft telemetry processing.) Note that under the hood Mac OSX, Linux and Solaris are all very closely related and all run software that was roots goig back to the 70's You could say I've been using something very much like OSX for more than 20 years now and never "switched".

I have switched back & forth for many years. This last time seems to have stuck better than before.

I bought an ibook in the early 2000's and sold it. I had a Powerbook Ti for a while and sold it. I had a tower (sawtooth model I think) for a while but it died and I never got it back up & running. I bought a Powerbook in 2004 for about a year and 1/2 but becoming unemployed I sold it to help pay for insurance via Cobra.

Now I use a Macbook when out of the house and a Mac Mini at home. I still run a Windows domain at home with 2 servers and my wife has an XP box, but my personal workstations are Macs now.

I technically switched back and forth as well. It wasn't a Mac, but my Dad bought me an Apple IIc in 1984 for Christmas, and I used it until I was in college about seven years later. Beginning in 1991, I owned various DOS and then later, Windows PCs, before switching back to Apple in May 2003 when I bought my first Mac ever. I liked it so much that I ended up selling my PC a few months later, and the rest is history. :apple:

i'm fresh just bought my macbook 4/12/08 i jumped in the water completely selling my dell desktop and laptop at the same time.

for the first 2 weeks i used bootcamp because i was taking my series 7 exam and the study software was only compatible with windows...

ever since then i havent switched back to windows for anything, havent needed it and not interested in using it.

I have to be honest though i was using vista on my desktop and aside from a few hiccups it treated me well, i never experienced all the horror stories that people claim, so i cant really say that i hate vista and cant really bash it like most do..... but i do love OSX tons more and apple products are just so cool i definitely never stared at my pc as much as i do at my macbook lol.

I'm happy and i'm pretty sure i will be an apple user for life :D (even though i still have to use windows at work since i work in the finance industry :( )

PS: buying the iphone is what sparked my interest in OSX and apple computers, i started reading about them and researching to the point where it became obsessive until i finally got one...... and i still constantly read about them and research lol.

I got started with a commodore PET and then used a BBC micro for some time before getting a mac plus in 1987...

I won an Apple IIe in a computer store draw sometime back in 1982-83 or so. I had already been using a PC for a bit. I had to sell the IIe as it did not have full screen editing like I had on the PC.

I was then in the PC world till last September even though I always wanted a Mac. Finally when the new Aluminum iMac came out, that was it. Bought the 20" Then I got the Apple Extreme Base Station, Apple TV, iPhone and a few weeks ago, the Macbook Air. So, I'm all Mac(x)'ed out!:p

You need a "none of the above option" for people who switched over 10 years ago and people who switched from another computer, other than a PC.

I switched from a Commodore 64 to a Macintosh IIsi, 17 years ago. Though, I used Apples long before that...just never personally owned one before the IIsi.

In June, of the year 2004.
This is the official start of my true existence. This is when I arouse from my sleep . The sleep induced with in the confines of the microsoft matrix. I was set free. To see the world as it really was. To live my life, to the best of my abilities. No longer was I to be dragged down or beaten down. By the wastefulness of time and effort of the windows universe.

Here's my first machine, before going PC for about a decade, and then switching to Mac in 2005.

My first computer was n Apple //gs, had a couple of Macs after that, ran a couple of Windows Machines, got into Linux and then got a couple of older Macs, finally got the money for my MacBook a year ago.

Back in 5th grade, when the indigo slot loading iMacs were released. We got it around the Holidays. I was instantly sold. :) It's quite ironic (and slightly annoying, actually) how many of my friends own macs now, but back at that time, they hated Apple. We used the same iMacs in yearbook class in middle school, and everyone bashed them, while I defended Apple to the death, despite the lackluster Mac os 9.2.2. Seven years later, after millions of iPods & billions of songs sold, etc., and the marvel that is Mac Os X, look who's on top now! Figuratively, of course. ;)

Bought my Macbook in Sept 2007, and love this thing. Greatest computer I've ever used. Still have a PC though, but don't use it as much as the Macbook.

I switched on a whim in may 2007, I ruined my PC laptop when a waterbottle cracked in my backpack. I bought a macbook to replace it with and am all Mac now, and never going back.

Funny thing is I got a fair amount of ridicule from my family about it (including in-law's from my wife's family) now both sides are Mac people after seeing how trouble free our computing experience has been during the last year. My father-in-law is the last one still not using a Mac, but that's only because he's saving for a very well equipped Mac Pro desktop with a 30" ACD (probably will spend about 8 grand on the whole thing). My mom and brothers and sisters are Mac people now too.

its wierd how that works isnt it, its like a chain reaction once someone does something different everyone else will realise how amazing it is and then give it a go. good on ya :)

I switched in 2001 or 2002 from a Gateway to the Powermac G4 in my sig...which still works well enough I can't justify tossing it out, and can I find anyone to donate it to.

Used Macs in art college back in the early 1990s but owned Amiga personally.
After a few years on one crappy Windows PC after another I bought my first Mac (PBG4 15") back in the summer of 2004. Never looked back.

I switched to mac on march 2007. Best thing I could have done I can actually enjoy using my comp now my dad will most likely be getting one too.

I bought an old Performa 5200 from my school, but it lacked in connectivity and apps. I properly switched a couple of weeks after the MacBook was announced. I ordered it the day after it was announced and it was delivered a couple of weeks later...
