Although most delivered by UPS, this is what FedEx is saying about the visit:

The papal visit to the U.S. is expected to cause delays and disruptions in the Washington, D.C., New York, NY and Philadelphia, PA metro areas including some bridges and tunnels leading into and out of the areas. FedEx will be operating during this event, although customers may experience service delays and disruptions in these areas because of local restrictions.

We have implemented contingency plans to help mitigate delays. Our goal is 100% reliability and we appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding while our operations teams work to minimize any delays. Please continue to check fedex.com for updates.

For general travel information including road closures, please visit Pope Francis Visit 2015.

Continue to check the status of your shipments on fedex.com before going to any staffed FedEx location. You can also contact FedEx Customer Service at 1.800.GoFedEx 1.800.463.3339 or stay up to date by subscribing to service disruption email notifications at the FedEx Email Subscription Center.

Shipping to affected areas?
To help avoid delays, we encourage you to contact your recipients to verify whether their location is open or able to receive deliveries before and after the papal visit to the U.S. In the event of evacuations, shipments not delivered before the papal visit to the U.S. will be secured in one of our facilities. Delivery will be attempted when it is safe to do so.

Note that potential service disruptions may not affect FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight, FedEx Office, etc. the same. This may result in different levels of impact as well as cities, states and ZIP Codes serviced.

Perhaps you can pick it up at the FedEx facility?

I'll try that but i don't think i can.

• Washington, D.C.: Tuesday, September 22, through Thursday, September 24. (Only limited areas of ZIP codes will be impacted, depending upon street closures.)

Maybe i can get it on the right time?

Just got this dreaded email...

Dear Granny Smith

Thank you for your recent Apple Store purchase.

Your iPhone 6s 128GB Space Gray (CDMA) Verizon Wireless is scheduled for delivery on Friday, September 25th. However, due to traffic restrictions expected for that day in New York City, your delivery may be delayed.

If we're unable to complete the delivery on Friday, we'll also be making Saturday deliveries at most locations.

To track your package, please visit UPS with your tracking number: 1ZRV1XXXXXXXX98913.

We know you’re looking forward to receiving your new iPhone, and we apologize if your order is affected.

Sincerely,

Apple

just got an email from Apple that my phone may be delayed due to traffic restrictions Friday and will deliver on Saturday, maybe, if they don't make it Friday. Total bummer

Just contacted UPS to see if they could provide any new information regarding possible delay. Despite the Apple email, the UPS site and representative shows my package as still on time with no delays.

Perhaps Apple is just being extra cautious and sending these to everyone in NYC.

If the UPS tracking updates to a delayed status, i'll have to contact UPS and request they hold my package at facility for personal pickup.

Of all the days the Pope decided to come on release day. SMH...

Same letter, different model.

It's a perfect storm this week in NYC. Pope and the UN are in town. I hate New York.
