I have used Apple CarPlay for years in several cars, and now drive a Tesla Model 3.
Every car I owned, I had to plug in my phone before I could use CarPlay, and often it wouldn't connect. Then unplug and try again a few times. Zooming an panning the screen is difficult as you need to use a little +/- on the screen and cursors. With the Tesla you simply pinch zoom and use your finger just like on an iPad to pan and rotate. Much better.
Not only will the Tesla nav take you to Tesla Supercharger, but will know enough when to start precondition the battery for optimal charging when you arrive.
The Tesla will look at appointments on your synced iPhone and when you get into the car will have the destination already mapped out on the screen.

I don't miss CarPlay in the Tesla at all.
Well put. Also I love pulling something up on my phone in Maps and hitting the Share button to share it directly to the car before I leave. When I get in, the navigation is set and waiting for me.

While I agree that Tesla's infotainment is very good, I don't think the ability to play games has much to do with its capabilities and usability as a car infotainment/console (although it's impressive nonetheless).
i use cyberpunk as a testiment of how powerful the ryzen infotainment is. if it can handle the rasterization of a very demanding triple A title, it sure as hell can handle the basic map routing and screen fluidity.

I'll never own/lease a Tesla or any EV in my lifetime. Everyone now is taking advantage of consumers in the name of "green". It's a great money making opportunity and PR campaign for selling/leasing more vehicles. At the end of the day almost none actually give a **** about the environment. It's all about now, the moment. Full stop.

You've been getting bad info it seems.

Tesla forces users to use its system whether they want to or not. Most other manufacturers let you decide.

CarPlay works great on my Mach-E and with over the air improvements since launch it is really responsive. I only interact with the OEM system to change vehicle setting. Ford has also greatly improved the interface since launch.
That's not really true. Tesla has a full internet browser on the screen, and you can use ABRP (A better route planner) and there is TeslaWaze you can use.

Does CarPlay have a browser? Can you watch Netflix on the screen and have a 14 speaker surround sound for you movie? There is a lot more 'entertainment' in the Tesla system than CarPlay.

lmao, tell me you've never driven a tesla without telling me you've never driven a tesla.

Is that a joke? Do you have a Tesla? Tesla infotainment and routing is near perfect.

so, what were you saying again about not owing a tesla?

Say more about Tesla's "garbage" routing. What's wrong with it? I'm curious. I have no opinions since I don't have an EV (only rode in one once).

ah yes, 'near perfect', eh?

but aside from this, the UI is simplistic and lacking many features of a modern GPS system. it's like a 2005 era tomtom.

That's really funny. I think that must be an "even tyre tread wear" feature. That is, the Tesla is detecting uneven tyre wear so it's asking you to drive it around in some circles to make sure the uneven tyres get more wear. Yes. Right??

LOL.

just own up to it man. you tried to call me out and i proved you wrong.

the car isn't a good quality car. i bought one and regret it. im not sure what's so hard to understand?

you didn't really prove anything. i literally just proved you wrong about the your navigation "issue" too. try again?

the fact your UI doesn't show trip options on the bottom left and still on top means you're trying to BS your way through this debate using really old software as "proof" 🤦‍♂️

hate to piss on your bonfire, but it's working perfectly for me.

"i don't have cancer so nobody else has cancer either" that's what your argument comes down too?

since you're not very technical, you might want to read up on how software bugs work.

the navigation picture isn't mine. it's from the front page of reddit.....

That's not even a valid analogy

I literally worked at Apple as a software engineer. Got a box of welcoming employee documents too that's in the closet. Shall I upload these when I get home?

the navigation picture isn't mine.

I think you just discredited your proof of having driven a Tesla before.

didn't learn about bugs?

the difference between me and you is im capable of realizing the car i own is garbage. i doubt you even own one, must be a TSLA shareholder.

well that might explain why apple software is so buggy as of late.

I left over 5 years ago. Thanks for the compliment that Apple can't ship good software without me.

I just showed you I plugged your problematic route into my screen and it looked fine.

Unlike you, I actually have docs to prove it. Attached.

Anyways, see ya. This debate is losing substance fast. 😂

If Tesla offered CarPlay that’s be a instant buy for me.
When I bought mine I thought I could live without it but I was wrong, the Tesla system is awful. I just use my iPhone on a mount but won't buy from them again as a result. It may be one thing if you've never had it but coming from a car that already had it the letdown is huge.
