Some new games just popped up (available to install) in my game list on the Steam for Mac beta. Sam & Max. More launch titles? I'd say so.

Incase you remember the fiasco with the release and stolen source code of Half Life 2. It's confirmed that this won't happen here, since Valve has a backup plan this time :p

:p It's even funnier because I have that thread tabbed right now. Come on may 12th hurry UP!

I am getting more and more excited about this as I think about what this means for Mac gaming. It is a truly colossal shift in the way things have been going for the past 15 years.

I hope the twelfth means midnight... but I won't get my hopes up.

Oooh.. Can't wait.. I wonder how long it'll be before Killing Floor goes live? I hope Tripwire see the advantage of launching from day one!

I can see why Valve are staggering their releases though, it makes a lot more sense from a "trying to get us to buy stuff" perspective. If they just dump them all on us at once we're not likely to buy them all, if they release something every week we just might..

Unless like many here (including myself) you already have them all, which makes it a little frustrating. XD

If each week's update centres on a single feature I suspect there'll be a half-life week, a deathmatch/TF2 week, and a Zombie week.. I'm looking forward to zombie week most, if it does pan out like that!

When I was waiting for Left4Dead2 I was up until 6am (GMT) I think which was a 5 hour delay of their initial estimate.

Fabulous news. I was hoping to play a Diablo-like game while I wait for the real thing and my new Core i7 iMac should arrive on Friday. Sounds like I might as well clear my calendar for the weekend.

This SteamPlay is wonderful, I cannot wait to play Torchlight in mi MBP.

And using the SteamCloud, you can play in any computer and your savegame is shared amongst all of them. Thats nice :D

I wonder if Civ4 is also thought to be in the SteamPlay list. I wish so :)

I like that the old Lucasarts point n click adventure games will run on OSX too. More and more of my library is being converted :). I hope they do use emulation for the really old titles. I don't think Doom 1+2 would lose much performance!
Shame there's little hope for Audacity (relies too much on MS tech).

Also it's Wednesday. I'll feverishly be refreshing the Steam news page. Interestingly - there hasn't been a mid-week sale announced yet. Normally they occur on Tuesdays. So a wild guess would be Portal and Torchlight on sale to celebrate Steam for Mac? At the very most I'd expect Orange Box on sale.

And anyone who plays anything that connects to the Steam cloud knows that it's routinely down.

Not true. I am on L4D2 every day just about and I've never had it give me problems syncing data. Not once have I had a Steam Cloud issue in the hundreds of hours I've played games that use it.

just bought a 2.53 ghz Mini a month or two ago hopefully it has enough to run some of these games.

I've never had any problems with the Steam Cloud either..

This is like waiting for Apple store changes, but its just for games I already own.. Pretty lame. :D

I also play TF2 or either of the L4D games every night, and it is down occasionally. The most recent was 2 nights ago. Me and some friends decided to play L4D2 for the first time in months, had a Scavenge game for a warm up but soon after the whole Steam community server went down for an hour. This was at 1am GMT. TF2's item server was down too so you could only play with stock weapons. I'd say it affects 1/10 times I play.

I've disabled Cloud for most games though. It's not so useful if you're running games on totally different computers and it syncs a broken keyboard setup. Never a good thing! I'd imagine its great for save games though.

Pretty disappointed that it's just portal coming out today from Valve. I was, like many others, under the impression that Valve would bring all their games out with the launch (or at least TF2/L4D).

I don't believe it's just Portal. First, Torchlight is there, and who knows what else?
