Portenzo iPad 2 Case: Now a Smart Cover

Hi Darin -

As the owner of an original Portenzo and an Alano, I'd like to state that your quality is top notch - I've been recommending your cases to many of my co-workers. One question - will the iPad 2 case be lighter and/or thinner than the older cases?

Sorry, we're trying to get those details out ASAP. Just know that the leather options are done by different craftsmen, so those orders are 'somewhat' of a new line, not behind all the other existing orders. I hope that makes sense.

Just curious if you'll have different pictures added to the site to show what each color-way looks like on the actual case? I'm trying to see what a decent (interior) color would look like with my White Ipad 2. Any help would be great. Also, what's the ETA on shipping right now for Morocco if ordered this week? Thank you for any help.
 
Wow, such hostility in a thread about iPad cases, use your inside voices, take it elsewhere and leave this thread to those who want to use it as a resource about Portenzo.

Darin - one question regarding "exotic" covers, specifically black leather. Is this leather the Alano or is there an option to have a thinner black leather on the standard harder case? If so is it possible to produce that now or are you only producing synthetics?

I'm pretty interested in this question as well, I know Darin is waiting for the material to get to the shop, but would they be shipped this week or next?
 
I ordered my Morocco-wrapped case on March 4. Hopefully that's enough to be near the top of the list, but it sounds like their supply of that material is constrained either way.

My iPad was just delivered so I can't wait for this case.
 
Just curious what you guys are looking for in the case and what inside color schemes you guys think would mix well with the White Ipad2? Also, why morocco over levant and magnet, strap, or both!? Never had one before so I'm curious from actual previous owners what style works best and your color choices. Thanks!
 
I just ordered the morocco, dark blue linen, camera hole, magnetic cover with strap. Morocoo seemed a bit smoother looking so I went with it.

I just put a note that if the leathers came up or staining the wood I wanted to try that if still available.

Cant wait for the new case!

This will also be my first Portenzo, so I'm no expert. But, I ordered Levant, natural linen interior, strap only. I also have a white iPad. I still debate if I made the best internal color decision, but have decided to stick with something lighter as opposed to the darker and heavier colors (just personal preference). I also like the look of the texture of Levant. It seems many prefer the smoother Morocco (which is most similar to a real moleskine notebook), but the Levant texture appeals to me when I see pictures of it online. Magnet closure is cool, but the strap seems more functional and having both just seemed redundant--again, all about your needs and personal preferences.

Honestly, with all these choices, I've debated forever about the "right" one. I finally just settled on something, so fingers crossed, I'll love it!
 
So how easy is it to pop the iPad out of the case for a gaming session? Does removing it often degrade the rubber used to hold it in place? Thanks!
 
I know it'll probably happen, but, as orders start arriving, can I request for people to post pictures of their kit?

With the different combination of case styles and black/white iPads (and yes, I know I'm setting you up to be guinea pigs a bit) it'd be helpful to those of us who are still 4-5 weeks away from even the iPad.

I have the white iPad 2 as well & a new customer to Portenzo. Originally, I chose deep purple but then sent an email to have the color changed.

I chose morocco, interior Green Apple, no camera hole(as I don't plan on taking pics with my iPad), & a magnetic cover with strap.

Hopefully, Darin got my email (out of hundreds I'm sure...sorry) because not only did I change my color I forgot to add notes to add the elastic band.:eek:

I think someone else in this thread reported that they do this frequently with their original iPad and that there were no issues.

Nope, I'm waiting (im)patiently! :) I ordered on the 9th, Levant, so I'm hopefully it will ship by mid-week. I put a relatively cheap skin on my iPad to get me through the week.

I am debating the dark purple or sky blue. And most likely just the magnetic closure.

heh.. see i ordered like week ago.. 2 with Black Morocco.. i hope they go out soon if they get morocco back in stock.. i dont have any covers so being very careful with my ipad 2 :)
