Portenzo iPad 2 Case: Now a Smart Cover

Has anyone here gotten any sort of shipping confirmation or finalization email? I know there was mention last week of a shortage on Morocco material (which might be why most of us haven't heard anything yet), but at this point I'd switch to Levant if it means faster delivery. I feel like I'm working on borrowed time with my iPad being naked for so long

Same here preordered and my poor iPad is nude,--the horror---
But with levant material, hoping they ship at SOME point before the week is over, seems like apple tactics lol, announcing one release date but shipping way later.

mine has a scratch from before i even opened it i guess.. after taking it out of the box.. it appears there was a scratch from the AC adapter/charger.. its not that bad but my ipad is naked until our portenzo cases come so i keep it in the box when im not using it or when i carry it to work i put it in my backpack in the box..

still no word on shipping or edit orders on my end

Okay. Some are going to complain, but here is my answer for "23.5."

Even though Isaac Newton was actual born on December 25th, some might assume that he was born on the on the 23rd halfway through the day, and that would be the significance of the Law of Gravity with the falling of the apple. Thus, the connection with the Apple iPad and Portenzo Special Edition iPad 2 case - The Twenty Three And A Half.

It is also the point at which the earth's axis is tilted with the north pole being pointed away from the sun at 23.5 degrees on December 21st & 22nd, which is the winter solstice and is the shortest day in the northern hemisphere.

I wouldn't worry about that. Sealed plywood, especially a hard wood, should retain it's shape and last a long, long time.

I emailed Darin last week about camera kit... He couldn't verify if there would be any problem or not but he thinks it should work.. It was one of my concerns.. if/when I get mine I will verify

They use birch plywood for some instruments and I never heard of any problems.. But what do I know lol

Keep in mind I preordered, I'm giving this until Friday to ship out, otherwise I will see if I can get refunded and buy a case already shipping cause my iPad is going to have some kind of accident or scratch up before it sees a case.

I couldn't take it already....I broke down and placed an order. Now the wait begins...I hope this wait will be less painful than trying to obtain an iPad 2!

Its certainly annoying. He should be able to at least delegate email response to some one else. You spend 70 bucks on something the least you can ask for is a response to an email. There isn't even a phone number to call.

Give it a rest guys...most mfrs wont touch forums with a 10 foot pole. He came on here for two weeks and answered every question. He has a quiz ending friday and this is not a new startup and a scam, many own the portenzo for the ipad 1 and love it.

Settle down or call your CC company and get your money back...but please quit whining he won't get you personally. Ever think he took some vac or is down with he flu?

While I'm also excited and anxious for my case, I realize that a handmade product takes time. These aren't mass produced items that you can get at any store. I'd rather the team take the time to get the cases right than to have it rushed out to me. According to Darin, orders have started trickling out and the flood will happen soon enough. These were never promised to ship before 3/21 (and even then, I would imagine that only those who ordered in the first day or two of pre-orders actually got a case shipped on the first day). I don't think we can get too excited on 3/23, considering there's a queue, Portenzo is perfecting the product, and also producing and releasing other great products.

I put a cheap skin on my iPad to protect it until my case arrives--this sort of wait is, unfortunately, part of the price one pays for being an early technology adopter.

FYI...Darin was on Facebook and I think Twitter yesterday--people may be able to contact him via those routes. He does a lot more than just respond to our messages here at Mac Rumors. He has been quieter these last couple days, but I'm sure that it a reflection of trying to get these cases out to everyone.

Is it too much to ask for a return email? It's not any criticism for the forum member unless he is an owner or director. There should be some type of support to handle customer service only. Expecting so is not being a jerk.

On a separate note. This a forum a place for thoughts. You settle down, we all know our options and I'm sure most are deciding to wait but out their thoughts out there. This thread being the appropriate outlet.

For those of you going with the 23 1/2, what set up are you ordering? I like the clean look with just the Magna cover. However, I'm thinking of getting the camera hole in which case I would definitely get the strap.

I ordered one with magnagrip, no strap and no camera hole. Camera is horrible and don't plan to use it.

I just got the iPad on Tuesday and just until now I put some time to hear the speakers. I have to say that if it's not rested anywhere, the sound drowns on the background. The Sound Chamber on the Portenzo will be a great addition for the device, you can test it out yourself if you put your hand on the speakers to make the sound echo forward, it does sound louder and I expect the case to do just that!

hi does anyone know where i can find more information about the "lay flat spine" i saw on facebook portenzo suggested to someone if they wanted the case to fold flat to put lay flat spline in the special request box... does anyone have any pictures of how one looks like?

I just want to know the answer to the meaning of 23.5! I ordered mine last Thursday night (17th) so I've still got a few days before I'm out of the 7-14 day shipping estimate. I'm not sweating it, although I have to admit...I think I'm just as excited to get this case as I was to get the iPad. Portenzo has apparently mastered the Reality Distortion Field™.
