Portenzo iPad 2 Case: Now a Smart Cover

I returned my smart cover today, bought a Griffin Elan SlimCase at Best Buy which I will also return as soon as I get my Portenzo. At least I hope to since I now only have 29 days left to return it. Boy did Griffin rush to market on this crappy case.

I noticed on mine that the edges of the composition pattern/colour wore away quickly. It wasn't awful but noticeable to me. The black edge on the binding area puckered after 3 days. It made a crinkling sound. I assume that there wasn't enough adhesive used. I liked the case though and didn't return it. I just wouldn't get the composition again unless they fixed those issues. I for sure wouldn't get one now that it is $20 more. I also wouldn't bother with the sticker and I'd take the one off they put on because the sticker wore away & looked ragged after about 60 days.

When it comes to cleaning don't use any thing wet on the composition. Other than a dry wipe down you shouldn't need to do anything. If it gets wet, be careful because I got black on my bed @ the hotel from the cover.

I bought a third party 6ft griffin charger cable and it did not fit, i couldn't charge my ipad 1 unless I used the regular apple cable. So I took a dremel tool to the port area of the frame and afterwards my 6 ft charger cable fit.

That is my experience with the Composition case. I'm waiting for their additional leather cases.

I love Portenzo I will support them because they are great. So don't take my criticisms as a person who wouldn't buy from them again because I will.

thanks xultar...i went to my local apple store today and exchanged my smart cover for an incase messenger bag...going to place an order on a portenzo very soon...i've been watching youtube videos of the first generation case all day and their quality seems to be top notch along with their customer service
 
I was going to order but sounds like no clue on shipping. Will just use neoprene case for now. When we get some reliability on shipping timeframes I will place my order. (plus also worried things might be rushed now to fill this first wave of orders).

I wish they would at least post if they are shipping it out. I haven't heard of anyone who received one yet.

At least let us know that things are still taking time. Some information is better than sitting in the dark. I ordered mine on march 8th.
 
Don't they ship after each one is made? Not sure why they are waiting to ship in groups. If they are so busy making these, than there must be some finished?

Not accusing, just wondering 😕

I agree. I ordered at the weekend and now I very much doubt the 7-14 day estimate for new orders. The 23.5 thing is a bit of a distraction. I'd prefer to know when my case will ship!

Have you guys been reading the thread? They've been finalizing the design. That is why there weren't any pictures posted. How can they send the ipad 2 cases out if the design wasn't finalized?

Handmade takes time people. If you want some mass produced crap there are tons of things you can buy that will give you a shipping notice today if you want.

Good things come to those who wait.

Have a drink...and sit back a bit.
 
This is my first iPad and I've been using it the past few days naked and love it. The Portenzo cover scares me a bit now taking away the nakedness, but, I'm leaving the order in. I'm sure it'll be great.
 
I've been using my Ipad 2 (my first Ipad) with the Smart Cover, and really am not thrilled with it. I want a real case, and decided to order a Portenzo this evening. Just don't like using the Ipad with so little protection (felt the same way about my Kndle 3).

yeah, they said pre-orders would start shipping on the 21st. They could come out and say, nope, it's going to be later since we are still putting the final touches on it. I just want some information!

Wow at least I'm not the only one 😀 I was really hoping for an Ostrich Edition for iPad 2 but I want a Portenzo asap. I'm checking the site constantly but Im considering the SeventySix for now...I think a saddle leather cover tooled with paisley designs (like henna designs) would be quite appealing as well.
