Portenzo iPad 2 Case: Now a Smart Cover

So while I think Portenzo could have moved it over by about 0.25", I think if it were centered it might leave a gap in the wood too close to a corner and so maybe the integrity would be compromised? good point... maybe since both are using birch plywood.. it would of left the corner weaker.. never thought of that..

btw.. the treegloo does not look like a tv tray once the ipad is in there.. we could say the same for the portenzo and p&q.. w/o an ipad in there they are basicaly plywood.. i got a plywood work top thats looks the same..

this doesnt look like a tv tray to me.. looks actually pretty slick..

Thanks for the review and pics! I'm wondering if the other few folks who have received cases have noticed a similar problem with the sleep/wake button? Is it one case or is it a larger problem? Anyone else with a case also have this issue? Definitely worth contacting them about IMO (although probably don't expect an answer until things normalize!)
 
For all the pomp around here about Portenzo, they seem to be nothing uber special with flaws just like any other. Do they have rounded corners vs angled corners? Sure, but that is good unless you like the angles. Otherwise, the wood looks cheap, they leave a camera hole there even if you do not order one meaning these are all made off of a line and not custom pieces of art and lastly, they have the WORST customer service of all the companies in the case business. Oh and those rubber things sticking out are terrible and need to be trimmed once you get it.

While I plan on getting one for comparison purposes (will ask to not have those rubber things installed in mine), I think all the people touting these cases like they could cure cancer too have been exposed a bit.

Don't you think that was a little over the top. I think you may be a little to sensitive. When someone said the corners of the Portenzo looked ghetto I don't think anyone got upset. I even agreed.

I think the Treegloo looks like a tray too. That isn't necessarily a disparaging remark. Some people may like the tray look. I know do it looks more complete and framed. I actually like it better than the Portenzo birch at this point.

I think some folks need to chill. It is just an accessory. No on insulted a person or family member.

As a previous Portenzo owner I can attest to the fact that it does cure cancer.

I see, thanks. Now I'm thinking I may email a change to my order to add the hole. But now I'm concerned that will extend my wait! Decisions! I actually have a 23.5 ordered so I'm maybe one of the few folks whose case isn't technically late yet.
 
Why is it that people can totally diss the Portenzo but if someone says one negative thing about the others it is disparaging.

The mods should lock this thread and start another. People are way to sensitive.

Yeah, I almost changed to add the hole but I didn't want to delay it any longer either. It doesn't bother me that its there, I pointed things out that some others might have an issue with. Same with the off center sleep button, while in the case I will handly use the sleep button. It doesn't make it difficult to use.

You are acting as if you had the only order. There are thousands of orders. Did you cancel yours? If not look in to it. Go with dodo case, Treegloo or pad and quill. They are all excellent. It would totally make you less stressed so you can enjoy your iPad 2

We don't know if someone at Portenzo got sick, had an accident, had a death in the family, a spouse could have left, all kinds of things could have happened. Yes they should have been more open they screwed that up. But they are attempting to make it right. Let's give them a chance to do so.

If people aren't willing to give them a chance that is cool. Order from someone else and let it go.

There is mud slinging in both directions but way too much fellating of the Portenzo which has flaws and bad service.

Feel free to play in your own thread though

Thanks for all the info. I just sent an email to add the camera hole. I was debating it anyway, so this pushed me over the fence. Not sure what, if any impact it will have on my ship time. Luckily, I have a Waterfield sleeve on order as well.

yah.. it was nice for you to point it out. like you said it maybe designed that way to keep the corners more secure.. i dunno.. darin would have to chime in.. but atleast its good to know.. thx for sharing..

the way i feel is unless you have owned all the cases.. its just your opinion.. i have no idea what any of them feel like or how 'good' they are until i hold one in my own hands.. its always good to hear others opinions but you cant say one is 'better' then another w/o owning both.. so lets keep this thread on the portenzo.. there are 2 other threads on here one for pad and quill and another for treegloo.. i dont like fords and you might like chevys.. dont matter.. :p still get the job done..

I'm getting them all. Will burn the 3 I like least. Should make great YouTube fare if one of the burns ends up being this Pretenzzo

True. But while Treegloo might look like a TV tray, the Portenzo does look like a toilet lid.
 
This might have been answered but with the thread pushing 40 pages, it is kinda tough.

Has anyone had experience with the stylus holder? Does it add a lot of width or create a gap such that folding it back is tougher? Could not find a lot of pictures.
