Darin & Team Portenza,
Any plans on answering customers' email/queries?
Were checking emails for order numbers as the approach production, so even if we haven't responded to an email request, we should still catch it before your case goes out. You may get a shipping notification before getting a response to a change/upgrade. That just means we have seen the request/upgrade and have taken care of it. If something gets messed up, fear not, we will take care of it and make it right.
You guys are AWESOME, and again, we apologize for all late shipments. Daily shipments are increasing and we hope to be caught up on all late orders very soon. They are all going out with an Express upgrade, as noted before.
Since 1,102 posts in this thread aren't enough...
Going back to the original theme of this thread (that Portenzo is now a Smart Cover), I was thinking today (dangerous!) about the magnets in the case. Obviously the iPad is designed with them in mind... so they are unlikely to cause any problems with the unit. But what about other computer equipment?
For example, I was planning to put my iPad & the case (in about 4 weeks when I finally get them) in the bag with my work laptop. I'm wondering if this may be a bad idea. While I've seen suggestions that LCD screens don't have the issues with magnets that CRT displays did... what about hard drives and other components?
Any thoughts?
The magnets on the case are very small, attached is a picture of what looks to be 3 circular magnets. They are strong enough to hold about 5 paperclips on the front of the case. I wondered about if this could do any damage to a hard drive too, I don't put my iPad and case on top of my laptop just in case.

Ughhh. Looks like that liner is not evenly distanced from edge of cover.
Regretting my order now. Plus did not see those magnet lumps in other cases.
WTF portenzo? Please explain.
Is it just me or are most your posts just complaints and whining? Cancel your order, wait for your other cases to burn away and get off this post. Don't criticize what others have just because you're salty about "pretenzo" is it? Cute.

It is evenly distanced from edge of cover. That pictures has a weird angle that makes it look like it's not. It's not easy to judge just from pictures, I think it's a well made case. Also when things are handmade, they can't be perfect.
Welcome you MacRumors! Nice of you to join just to talk Portenzo.
If you do not like criticism, feel free to read another thread. Since you were so happy to see the mod step in, try reading the post you quoted and what it says about labeling people with different views "whiny"
lmao! you're hilarious! ya I joined jus for "pretenzo". You got it buddy! lol..
That's quite the comeback.
Now can we get back to the subject of this thread?
Portenzo responded a page before with this answer...
im talking about "general questions"...![]()
I think they are too overwhelm to answer any of that, just paying attention to order changes. I even changed the interior for mine and I haven't heard a confirmation yet. I think once they start mailing the Moroccos, everything might be back to normal... Hopefully!
Their official Facebook states they hope to clear the backlog within 2-4 weeks.
Also, they've been working 20 hours a day, 7 days a week.
A small shipment of morocco goes out Monday, with big shipments going out the rest of this week......
I don't buy that. I think they are trying to keep the natives from getting restless and jumping ship.
It would be easy enough to post a one line status daily: levant orders completed through xx/yy/2011 and similarly for Morocco, etc. That would stop the myriad of daily queries. Why don't they do that and instead give ambiguous updates like: shipping a small batch of Morocco next week and larger batches after that?
My guess? They are badly overwhelmed and it will probably be 4 to 5 weeks before they get some kind of order. It would not serve them to update us with that clear of a picture or else some might bolt.
I see where you are coming from, but if you give people an inch, then they want a mile, or in this scenario people want daily personal order queue location updates and that'd really eat up their time.
Alot on their FB want specific updates on their orders, if they did that for everyone........they'd never see the end of it....
yah.. realistically all orders should be put on back burner until all preorders are done.. people ordering now should be told in advance that their order could take 2-4weeks.. something.. i still haven't received any notice of changing my order to levant from morocco or changing one of them to 23.5.. so i have no idea when i will get both of mine..i did email with my order number back on the 27th.. no reply yet.. no notice of shipping yet.. orderd on 15th[/
If they don't search their emails for changes until they get ready to make a case, I am not sure how it will help to change from morocco with the hope of speeding it up.
I don't think logistics is their strong suit - they are working hard to get as many out as they can. It would be appropriate to put a hold on new orders or provide a proper timeframe.
