I told you guys. If you weren't a Portenzo customer before you couldn't understand why we put up with the confusion and the wait.

Yes their customer service was lacking. But if you were a previous owner you understood and would be willing to wait it out because the cases were so beautifully made.

I'm grateful for the people who cancelled because really it saves those beautiful cases for those who waited and stuck by Portenzo.

I have the black leather Portenzo Alano for the original iPad and I am very satisfied with the case. My iPad does not come out of it. The quality, fit, and finish of my Portenzo case is superb.

For those of you waiting for a case, be patient. Remember that Portenzo is a small company trying to meet a growing demand that comes from creating and selling a great product.

By the way, several months ago while I was getting out of my car I lost my balance. I was holding my daughter and my Portenzo / iPad was in my other hand. I knew I was going to fall and I had a decision to make... drop my daughter or drop the iPad. Well, I dropped the Portenzo / iPad on my concrete driveway. The iPad suffered no damage but the Portenzo case cracked severely.

I sent Darin an e-mail about purchasing another leather Alano. I also told him why I was buying another one. Guess what, he told me to send the case to him. In less than ten days he returned it to me... fixed, free of charge.

Based on my customer service experience with the company and based on the quality product they sell, I for one will continue to purchase Portenzo products for every iPad I buy.

I ordered a Levant with Espresso interior, Stylus, Magna-Grip (no strap), no camera hole Notebook case on Mar 15, no word on it yet though :(

Maybe thats a good thing, gives me a chance to change the cover to real leather... maybe even boar leather *tempted*

UPDATE: screw it, just sent an email asking for a quote on boar leather. Hopefully they will do that order number search before they build it.

Awesome story, yeah I also heard about their great costumer service, and whatever is happening with their lack of communication is just temporary, they will know better for the next time, its really a small company creating a product the size of Apple. :)
 
My Portenzo iPad2 case arrived via FedEx yesterday. Looks great. Quality seems excellent, so no complaints. We'll see how it holds up with time. It took about two weeks from date of order. Not bad for a custom product built by guys who probably have other jobs. I'm a little disappointed people are bashing Portenzo here - it does appear they are trying their best with a level of success they hadn't imagined.

So sorry to disappoint you - what was your order number? I ordered approx 27 days ago and nothing yet not even a shipping notice. Always easy to talk from the other side of the river.

LMAO, well said. I wonder if you order one now, will you receive it before your original order. I keep reading about early orders not being fulfilled nor any email responses on why.

With that said, I still find myself holding out for a Portenzo. I really want the SeventySix now, but no word on when it will be available. I read here on the forums that in a week or so. I'm going on a trip in June, I wonder if I will ever get my hands on one before then.
 
I got caught up in the Portenzo frenzy a few weeks ago and placed an order on 3/14. Since then I check this thread regularly and originally had intended not to post, but I have to say it's starting to annoy me. Closing in on 4 weeks now and my order has sat at Processing. I haven't received a single email update or anything on the website to indicate any sort of progress, aside from that they have my money from Paypal. If it weren't for the things I've read in this thread, I would have no idea what might or might not be going on with them; at the point I ordered the website was listing "starts shipping on 3/21". It's all just a bit unprofessional IMHO.

In the mean time I did what some others suggested and ordered from Pad and Quill. They list "shipping in 4-5 days" on their website. I ordered Sunday, got email confirmation, email update when they processed the order, and then another email saying it shipped today. Nothing but professional.

Hey rittchard, let us know how you like the Pad & Quill. I will hold out a little longer for word on the SeventySix, but if I keep hearing and seeing good thing about the Octavo from P&Q, I might just make the decision and order that instead. Thanks!

Been going crazy ordered on March 16th, asked repeatedly for a status as I had not heard anything, then in FB Liz tells me that they had not realized that I had ordered a composition notebook.:eek:

I did not order a composition notebook, I have no idea what I am gonna get or when I am gonna get it.

If you're the #5184 guy, I saw them respond on FB to say that they had finished yours (Notebook style) 5 min prior to you adding the stylus option through their site, so with the change to add that, they've started again and it's now going out Monday.

I don't see the comment thread anymore on FB, but I know I read it.

Yeah I am starting to think people making changes to existing orders is also to blame. I say if they build it already, then it's too late. When I order a Mac from Apple, once it's done, I don't expect them to go back and make me a new one because I changed my mind. And Apple is known for excellent customer service. I sure hope Portenzo isn't bending over backwards for everyone's changes at the expense of people who placed orders earlier and didn't change a thing. That would really suck.

Yeah they been deleting threads, but what they failed to mention is that I added the stylus option about 2 weeks ago and they acknowledged the request as they were shipping it. They must have read one of my emails as they were shipping it...

I give up pursuing this, who knows what I will get...

I shouldn't be defending Portenzo any more than necessary since I have all but given up on them, but also note that they have repeatedly asked people not to ask about their orders on FB but rather to email them.

I could understand though when emails are not answered. FB wall is viewable to everyone, so it helps potential buyers know of the backlog. I like what someone said earlier in the thread about being patient and relaxing. I need to do that.

Yes that is true, but when all the times when I asked before they replied to me and said "No Worries" so I didn't worry. What worried me was that when they mentioned to me that my case was a composition when I had not ordered that. That is when I looked in to the site to see if there was a way to add it to my order online instead of requesting it via email.

So just think they told me "No worries" when I asked for the stylus and if I had not went to the site and added the stylus option to my case, it would have shipped without the stylus option. I am glad I did what I did.
 
Can anyone Recommend a good stylus?

To be polite, I'd rec the boxwave over the tenonedesigns one. (Those are the two I have used).

Now, does that question need to be asked in the Portenzo case thread? When I get notifications, I hope they're related to the topic I'm interested in.
 
Just an update, I emailed Portenzo last night asking about a custom case/SeventySix and received a response just now. So that gives me hope! Even in all their busyness, they are still responding to general inquiries. Looks like I will sit tight. I want me that SeventySix!
 
I blame the vendor for letting people waffle and say they can make changes up until shipping and I blame people for being indecisive over a $60 item.

It's moreso portenzo's bad for releasing 23.5/old schoolv.2/and the composition ntbk over the course of a week or two. Instead of making all four models available for preorder at the same instance.

It didn't make a difference as some way early march basic style orders STILL HAVEN'T SHIPPED vs late march(24-31) old school orders were built/processed/shipped at relative light speed.

God forbid I remember the 23.5 which preorders(me included) were promised shipping by this coming Monday. This is it, if my 23.5 does not ship by Monday, ordered on 3-18, they permanently lose me and my 97.87 USD.
