Portenzo iPad 2 Case: Now a Smart Cover

So is it just the iPad 2 Portenzo cases that are such a long delay? (They say 3-4 weeks on the website).

I'm interested in the Notebook for the iPad 1 and it says "Usually ships in 6-10 days." Does that mean they have some in stock and will ship, or am I in back of the line behind all of you fine folks?


And separately - which is closer to true Moleskine: Levant or Morocco?

If I knew a week or two after I placed my order It would be well over a month before I get it I would have cancelled. But it's been so long I'm not giving up now.

Next, Treegloo has had a few excuses why their cases were being delayed but all were communicated very clearly and promptly which is OK. I am on week 3 of my treegloo order btw - delayed twice. One for the aluminum issue and now for a stain issue.

my sister ordered an iPad 1 case three weeks ago. After waiting and then getting no communication, she finally had to switch her order from the black to something else because they told her it would take forever for the case to ship.

how could it seriously be so hard for portenzo to get their materials?

So yes, you are in the back of the line.
 
Hey guys,

I signed up after lurking here for a while to post this. I have been on the fence about a Portenzo case, and even more so now. I emailed last night to ask why we can't switch between Levant and Morocco now, and also how long it will take.

I also inquired about a custom frame, which was putting the stylus on the right-hand side of the frame, or even in a "cut-out" inside the frame.


Here is their response:

Currently we're focusing on Morocco orders. Levant is not available at this time.

If you order right now, it should be to you in 3-4 weeks, provided you are in the US.

We can do a right handed stylus, but that is a custom frame. Custom frames start at $300.

If 3-4 weeks is true, that put's me into May. I really needed a case before school ended and before my summer gigging season started as I'm worried sick every time I take my iPad2 naked into school and I can't even imagine taking it to venues without a case.

Portenzo is the case I want, but 3-4 weeks could also mean 2 months. I'm really hesitant to place an order. Anyone have advice?

One thing I can say is they responded VERY quickly and I was pleased with that.
 
This should make things a bit clearer, Portenzo has been back in responding to emails right away. But it seems that they still have low supply on the Morocco materials. They are hopeful that they will fulfilled the orders at the time they specified.

I wanted to know what is the status of the order #5225. Its my understanding that all Morocco orders placed before 3/25 will ship before 4/25 and I wanted to know if this is still true.

As someone who placed a Levant order late last week when the timeframe was quoting 1-2 weeks, I am confused by this.

The website states that "All new/recent orders should fall within their stated estimated shipping times," but this seems a bit inconsistent with what is quoted above (and what is posted on Portenzo's Facebook page).

it's 3-4 weeks and $300 because it's a custom order. They would need to physically make a new frame for a left handed case. I'm not surprised by the price or the time frame.. Although to be honest, with the way things are going (i'm on week 5 for my case), i think 3-4 weeks for a custom case is unrealistic. 5-6 maybe.

Just read the whole thread. There's a lot of confused people at the Portenzo team.

Like this guy^ as much as I love my fellow MR forum membErs, skora ordered way after me, and got his case waaaay before, I think my case isnt even built yet.

Well, if you really want to wait for Portenzo, I'd advise investing in a cheap temporary case that would get you through the next month, but won't break the bank. That's essentially what I did and I'm happy with the decision. Plus, I don't mind having a second case, which I'll likely use for slightly different purposes anyway.

Otherwise (and unfortunately), you'd probably have to consider a different option.

While the Portenzo wait is LONG, it seems like its quality surpasses the other moleskine-type cases available.

I'm also confused. I placed an order Sunday night for a Levant case. Estimated shipping at that time was 1-2 weeks. I hope that's still applicable, but at this point I have no idea! :confused:
 
Look people, they aren't forcing you to buy their stuff.

Cancel your orders. I'm sure they won't mind.
 
I'm guessing Portenzo allowed as many Levants as they could before pulling that option from their site recently. Last thing they need is for that material to run out as well.

I ordered on 3/9. Received it 4/4.

I'm hounding them until they prioritize my old order and ship me my case.

I'm nearing a month and thats unacceptable.

haha. I have heard of many people getting their cases before people who ordered way before, so you have a fair point. I'll take the cookie anyways!
 
This was my last communication with Darin

"Morocco orders will start daily shipping again on the 12th
All Morocco orders placed before 3/25 will ship before 4/25"

That was on April 4th, I ordered on March 16th

Which basically means "by 4/25". don't hold your breath, all 23.5 preorders(prior to 4/1) were promised shipping by this past monday, yet here I am no case no news or response from them...........

I easily see many people who fall within the ships by 4/25 range not getting a case until late May, falling in the cracks............"quality takes time" indeed.......especially when your workforce is to small and your are over-your-head overwhelmed.....
 
The fact that they keep promising dates and then push them back is whats so frustrating. If you don't have the material then don't set a specific date for shipping only to break it. Example the morocco cases were supposed to start shipping yesterday but as we have seen from emails sent to customers they have yet to receive their materials. We recognize this is a quality product and that is why we have placed orders for it but to be repeatedly misinformed on when we will receive them leaves a very bad taste in the mouth. For those of you who take issue with people complaining, Portenzo is lucky there are threads like this for people to vent their frustrations instead of just canceling orders. My fear is that the due to all the pressure to get these cases out the quality we are expecting will be diminished and this whole ridiculous process will be made all the worse.
