What I love is that the 3.0 software is better-centered but you're complaining about it. ~.~

That's actually not what I'm complaining about. They changed the right side of the directions button to be slightly distorted and it lacks definition.

It's a bug. If you look at the same buttons on the iPhone 3GS, it's fixed.

Why would they include a fix for that in an urgent patch? Think rationally.

I didn't think they would, but I don't feel like downgrading my iPhone from 3.1 to look. I didn't know if 3.0.1 is 3.1 beta 4 in disguise.

Can you do me a favor and check the toggle buttons at the bottom of Maps? Do they still look like this?

If you're unsure.. can you post a screenshot at least?

Nope it's still the same.

I like to know if it actually is possible to downgrade to 3.0.1. Both for security and for stability. I miss a properly functioning iPod.

Oh. My. God.

This is what you're complaining about? Are you for real?

If you want something real to complain about in the Maps app, it's this:

Prior to 3.0, when you searched for, let's say, Starbucks, there would be a circle with an 'x' to the right in the search bar, so that when you were finished, you could hit that and clear the search.

Now, with 3.0, when you enter in a search, the little Bookmarks icon is to the right in the search bar, so that when you want to clear the search, you have to tap the search bar, allow the keyboard to appear, and then hit the circle with the 'x' that then appears on the right in the search bar to clear the search, and then tap the map area to return to the map. Why did they change that?

Now THAT'S something to complain about.

Well I hope Geohot updates Purplera1n soon. Until then I'll be sitting tight with 3.0. I just got my phone set up the way I want it.

Until then I'll be on the lookout for the spooky Brackets of Death.....

Can't you just double tap the word and select delete?

Can't you just double tap the word and select delete?

No. Once you tap in the search bar, the keyboard appears. At that point you could double-tap the word for 'delete' to appear, but if you have an address you would have to drag the highlight over the entire address. Plus, once you tap the search bar, the 'x' appears anyway.

Prior to 3.0, you just tapped the 'x', no keyboard would appear, and the search cleared. The Bookmarks icon would only be there if the search bar was clear.

They made it less efficient.

When do you need to clear a search and AREN'T going to type something new there?

I see what you're saying.

But I just don't get how it can really bug you that much.

TheSpaz - really? You're going to be critical of someone who wants different functionality (or rather functionality restored)?

Look at your complaints. A slight graphic switch and you JUST CAN'T LET IT GO - yet you criticize a legitimate CHANGE in a process.

Please. Do what you threatened in another thread. Switch to a Go Phone and an iPod touch.

Really?

Once I've found what I'm looking for, I clear my search.

I keep the search bar clear for the next use. That's when.

When does it matter that they moved the 'directions' button over by one column of pixels?

I'm a very visual type of guy. Believe it or not, graphical glitches and UI bugs actually bother me more than programming bugs. I'd rather have a glitch every once in a while than a visual annoyance that's always there.

I'm just wondering why you need that field cleared. I'm guessing the way it used to be is the wrong way and 3.0 is the correct way. The reason I say this is, the only time you need to clear that search field is when you want to type something else in there. What difference does it make if there's something in that field still?

Fact is, you have OCD over that function and I have OCD over the graphics at the bottom. Either way, why should you criticize me over having OCD over something different than your OCD?

Let's be honest. ANY change bothers you. It's the graphics. It's the UI. It's speed. It's battery power. It's pretty much everything. You don't have the ability to just let things go.

You wouldn't rather have a glitch. You'd be on here posting about said glitch over and over and asking why Apple can't fix the bloody glitch just like you're asking why they can't fix this graphic anomaly.

p.s. Surely IS speaking of a UI experience. UI = User Interface. So if the process to do something changes - it's a UI change. So, in theory, Surely's issue should IRK you just the same, no?

How odd. After installing 3.0.1 on my 3GS I now get 'Charging is not supported with this device' when connecting my 2G cable (no dock). It worked before. I get the same with my older twin USB/FW cable which also previously charged/synched the 3GS.

ON EDIT: It appears the update doesn't like my USB hub - connecting directly to the system results in the iPhone charging.

Um no. Surely was mocking your OCD by questioning it. Surely wasn't criticizing you.

You really have a reading comprehension problem.
