Here is my iMac G4, i am using 10.4. nVidia FX5200 is horrible, Leopard is very sluggish.

Double the RAM or even better, max out at 2GB, and together with the necessary (& simple) Leopard 'speed-tweaks', you'll see that 1.25GHz iMac fly! It's certainly the case with my own 1.25 G4 iMac.

I agree. My PowerBook with a 1GHz G4 and a 4 MX runs Leopard fairly well. Well worth the newer iTunes and Leopard Webkit :3

Even with speed tweaks, Leopard is pretty slow on my 1.33GHz iBook G4 maxed out at 1.5GB of RAM.

@eyoungren will be happy to hear that, at least for me, TFF on Tiger is faster than LWK on Leopard. :D I'd be using Tiger if it supported Roccat. And I'm pretty sure that, even if there's no Roccat support, I'm going to make the switch eventually.

Just sharing my experience. ;)

That's not surprising.

Cameron Kaiser codes T4Fx on a G5 Quad running Tiger because that is HIS preferred OS. He does have Macs running Leopard, but 10.5 is not his preferred OS. So, everything he does is tweaked to wringing out the best performance he can get on a Tiger-based system.

As your speed issues, you might try a reinstall. @Dronecatcher had issues initially and a reinstall solved a lot of them for him. He was once very much anti-Leopard until this was solved.

Makes sense.

I've reinstalled on my Macs multiple times, nothing is ever different. :(

I'll most likely be moving to Tiger soon. TFF has a ton of advantages over WebKit browsers (bookmark syncing, automatic updates, etc.) and I'll probably like it better than Roccat.

Say what? :O I'll be looking into that claim ;) If YouTube and my not so demanding web sites work okay, there will be a battle of the cats on my PowerBook..

I'll be a monkey's uncle. TFF on Tiger isn't half bad to be perfectly honest. I only have one MAJOR issue and that is YouTube.. It works like a dog :/ I can easily watch 360p on LWK tho. @HFTaylor12

Have you tweaked TFF at all yet?

Yes, YouTube on TFF isn't great. However, you can use PPC Media Center, @Dronecatcher's custom player or the QuickTime Enabler add-on to watch YouTube.

Remember when I said no Mac OS X on the Sawtooth? Well, I couldn't resist. Mac OS X Developer Preview 4 running on at least $3500 worth of contemporary hardware.

I remember reading somewhere that Mac OS X Public Beta (which I installed on a DP Gigabit Ethernet system) is based on Developer Preview 4 but there are definitely some differences between the two builds.

Cool! I really like the older Mac OS X builds and intend to install some old ones on my Clamshell. The UI is one of the best ever IMO.

The Mac OS X betas are now abandonware and very easy to get, burn a CD, and install on your contemporary Mac. Here is where you can download the images: https://winworldpc.com/product/mac-os-x/

The original install disks are not so easy to find though, unfortunately as I like having legitimate install disks for things. I will say that I did manage to get a legitimate install disk of the Public Beta complete in the original sleeve, really something to behold.

"Dear Mac OS X Beta Tester,

You are holding the future of the Macintosh in your hands."
[doublepost=1492360876][/doublepost]You can also install 10.1 or 10.2 if all you want is the pre-Panther Aqua look.

Here's Mac OS X Public Beta running on a Dual 500 MHz Gigabit Ethernet G4, and yes there are some things different/more polished compared to Developer Preview 4. For example the "Show All" in System Preferences seems to be new in Public Beta, instead of everything located in the top bar.

[doublepost=1492374473][/doublepost]Not sure if anyone here has tried DPs 1-3 of Mac OS X, but it is rather interesting to see how the OS evolved.

I'm going to try to get DP3 on my Clamshell. It's unsupported, but I think there's a workaround. Aqua version 1.0 .

What's the icon in the dock that just shows the Application logo?

Something I noticed while going through the system requirements is that it mentions the iBook is NOT supported. Truthfully that was the first version I tried to boot, but it also doesn't support the DVD-RAM drive in my G4 (despite it being the factory drive) and simply panicked.

Developer Preview 4 gave me no trouble at all, except the Startup Disk pane in Mac OS X's System Preferences always crashes making it hard to boot back into Mac OS 9 (this wouldn't be a problem if I hadn't installed Mac OS X on the same partition).

Apple System Profiler (didn't get an icon until final release of 10.0).

You have the best About This Macs. :p

Mind sharing that Tiger MacOSX.tif image? :)
No problem. As I recall this was put together in Photoshop CS2 on this same iBook G4.

Just noticed about the unsupported install. Good luck with that, but these betas can be very picky. Even Public Beta will throw a fit if conditions aren't just right, for example trying to run it on a GeForce 2MX hasn't worked for me, won't boot at all (and this is a card I had been told should work, does work in Mac OS 9).

If you manage to succeed, do post a screenshot of your About This Mac here!

As a little joke, I put OS 9 on the PowerBook to see how well flash speeds worked (and yes, the hinge needs a repair).

Installed Tiger on my iBook G4 first, to test and see if I can make the switch on all of my Macs.

Tiger is so much faster and my iBook feels like a whole new machine. TenFourFox is great using @eyoungren's tweaks (through @Hack5190's file). Page loads are about the same as LWK but the webpages (especially this forum) are SO MUCH MORE responsive!

Lastly, here's a screenshot of my About This Mac using the MacOSX.tif from @redheeler:

I'll be making the switch on all of my main Macs. The only Macs I intend to keep on Leopard are my Mac mini and my iMac G4 (which will be set to dual-boot between Tiger and Leopard).
