Glad to hear it's working for you, mate. So far every time I've tried it, it gets declined. I've tried a vending machine on campus, Panera, and a best buy all with it being declined. I have PNC Bank and am using an iPhone 6 Plus. Anyone else having a similar experience?

Yes, they may still require a signature depending on the sale amount. The signature serves as your agreement to pay the card issuer, rather than to confirm your identity as many people mistakenly believe.

It's actually supposed to confirm that the card is yours as well as act as legal acceptance to pay the issuer since the cashier is supposed to verify that the signature you gave and the one on the card match. In practice, no one does this.

That's how it's been traditionally. Now that confirming identity is moot with Apple Pay, requiring a signature has been reduced to acting as legal acceptance to pay the issuer.

In fact, Apple support page on Apple Pay says that the merchant may still require you to sign a receipt.

3. Place your finger on Touch ID and move your iPhone near the reader to complete the payment. You might also need to sign a receipt, depending on the store and the transaction amount.

With the identity confirmation at point of transaction being replaced by bank verification as you add the card to the one device, coupled with TouchID/passcode. It's a brave, new world out there.

It's the same thing as the old lady who waits for the cashier to say the total before finding the wallet in her purse, then looking for coins to pay exact change, and then looking for coupons too. Then saying "oh I also forgot something" and holding up the line more.

Adding a card to Apple Pay in line seems like it's much better than this

You just described my shift at work today.... 5 more hours tomorrow then adios retail!

When I worked at Walmart, people sign on the electronic screen, and there's no way I can see on my screen what they were signing.

With some merchants, the signature appears on the cashier's screen.

Like I said, no one ever does this anymore.

This.

And today, multiple people talking about how their signature looked weird enough to not get approved. So people seriously think that the bank is looking at their signature on the electronic keypad to approve their charge?

I'd have to have your card and drivers license, and we aren't asking for that. Pretty easy most place to go on a spree with a stolen card, or to use a family members card or such. It was harder when we got the card and had to imprint it. Then at least we could compare the signature and such.

As mentioned earlier, requiring a signature is now reduced to acting as a legal acceptance to pay the issuer. Confirming the identity by checking the signature is becoming less and less common.

It may also depend on the transaction amount. For example, the first two times I used Apple Pay at Petco the terminal didn't request my signature. However, this past Saturday when I took my two cats there to get their vaccination shots and the amount was over $200, the screen prompted for my signature after paying with Apple Pay. This is actually nothing new and also done with credit cards.

Tried at Walmart this morning and it didn't work, also tried at Home Depot that didn't work either. Kinda disappointed!!!
The manager at HD told me they were told it will roll out by the end of the month. I'm guessing they are turning some stores on over the course of it.

I only have MC, so I don't know of visa or Amex worked at my HD. It is listed in the MC nearby app though.

Used at Apple Store last week. Worked fine.

Used it at Macy's yesterday. Worked fine but still had to sign on the terminal. I hate touching those germy pens!

They remodeled the lobby in my building and there are new vending machines (replaced the little sundries store :( ) Used ApplePay on it today and got oohhhs and ahhhhs from the other folks. lol.

On my lunch I used it twice, but didn't go smooth.

CVS: Held it to the NFC reader, passbook opened, finger print, showed done. Terminal was processing, but after a bit it didn't work, clerk said, "didn't seem to work"

I've used it at CVS before, but haven't been following news if they too removed Apply Pay.

McDonalds: Held it to terminal, finger print scanner, done. Expected it to clear and receipt to print. Few seconds later clerk said, "oh, you swiped, debit or credit." I did't swipe anything, but I had to then push a button to choose credit or debit. I hit credit and then it went through. If I had hit debit, I would of had to enter my pin.

When I got my iPhone 6, at McDonalds, it was a breeze, held it to NFC and done, never had to touch anything on the pad. 2nd use there, I did it 3 times in a row before figuring out I had to choose debit or credit. Chose debit and entered pin. Thing is, you ignore what the screen says when doing NFC payment, that's the point. So confusing. This 3rd time, I just knew what to expect and hit credit after using Apply Pay to avoid using pin.

I only of have my Bank of America card setup with Apply Pay.

Each terminal have different setup, some have to press "credit" some don't.

I have used at a few mcd, a Chevron gas station, and Footlocker. Both Chevron and Footlocker required me to press "credit" in order to complete the transaction.

It's really disappointing that many major retailers has stop accepting Apple Pay :(

I take it that your BOA card is a debit card? When you use debit, you generally have to choose credit or debit. With a standard credit card, you normally don't have to choose and the transaction is completed without any further steps involved.

You must've missed the memo. CVS and Rite-Aid purposely disabled Apple Pay after the fact as they're MCX retailers.

Two retailers are hardly "many." A number of them do support Apple Pay unofficially and the rest of them (like Target) never had NFC enabled in the first place.

Just now I went to go get gas and left my wallet at home. The gas light was on and didn't want to risk it. I used Apple Pay to get the gas. Phew!

learn how it works before you pass judgement#

I know exactly how it works but this is the first version of a payment system and there's bound to be hiccups and snags. you can't blame me for being a bit cautious.

learn to understand where someone is coming from before you get all snarky.

Why? It's been news for awhile that Walmart and Home Depot don't support ApplePay yet. Especially Walmart. You are on MR. Therefore you should've known this.

What do you mean Home Depot doesn't? I use it there a lot, and I just bought screwdrivers with it.
