Actually, looks a little bare to be honest. Ideas for where to go from here would be appreciated
A larger TV, and tower speakers would accentuate all of the space you have to offer. Maybe some tall lamps, or draperies?

Here is my apartment, slightly messy, and blurry from the late night photos. My new addition, called "The Penetrator, Because it goes so deep" is on the far left.
I'll try to get some nicer shots with a less wide lens in the next few days.

By the looks of that speaker, I'd say it's about time you fasten down your DVDs. Don't need them falling on your head in the middle of an on-screen explosion... Though I guess that will make your entertainment setup reach a new dimension of interactivity. I would say 4D... but I don't believe that is a 3D television... therefore, I guess you have 3D-- but not?
I don't need. It's 2AM. I should go to bed. ><
Got a new setup.
Went from 42inch tv to a 47inch led.

Hehe I was going to say that the dvds look a bit unstable. That setup would literally be mind blowing!
I wonder what the neighbours think?
oh hell yea! but it doesnt HAVE to be loud to hear it clearly. just reasonably-loudI'm assuming they are wishing he wasn't their neighbor. XD Especially during high-action films with a lot of shooting and explosions.![]()
silly room mates. No Blu-rays or DVD's have fallen; we mounted the shelves right into the studs. And not many complaints from the upstairs neighbour. Just when the roommates watch a movie really loud, and it's honestly not from the sub. My roommates seem to think that the sub makes mid-bass louder...

I dont to come off rude, but the wallpaper, or whatever that is, has to go. Some color on the wall would go a long way. With that size of an area, you have SO many options. Some type of table or wall unit would look good there. Those plants have to go too. If you dont want to spend lots of money, go to Ikea. You can go crazy in that area with a few hours at Ikea.

do you like the differences between DVD & BD? do you see it as night and day for both video and audio? i do and i use my TVs built in speakers!
Not a huge difference on that TV, it's a 720 DLP, if it was a direct view the difference would be much bigger, but it has the rear projection shimmer to it... The difference on my 24" 1080P Dell and my HD tube is amazing though.

personally i think just because you don't need a tv stand/cabinet, doesn't mean you should have one. A tv base cabinet or even two side shelves will help fill out that space. I would probably just flank the tv with book shelves and put some cool stuff in there.
daym you really need to get a 1080p projector (or TV).
the sound would be noticeable though?
- Infocus X10 Full HD Projector
- Custom Built Home made screen at 86" diagnol
- Sky+ HD (Upgraded to 1TB HDD)
- Sony HTIS100 Amp and 5.1 Speakers
- Sony Bravia 40" LCD with Bravia 1080 Wireless engine
- Apple Macbook with Plex (temporary solution until apple release a better MacMini with a BluRay drive)
- 4TB Storage (for Movies, TV Shows, Music, Photos)
- Xbox 360
- Wii

I posted way back when this thread was just getting started, but just went through some major upgrades.
I replaced my 65" HDTV with a 1080p projector, so for the folks out there complaining that "it's not a home theater unless there's a projector," I guess mine qualifies now
I'm quite happy with the new setup -- Blu-Ray movies look awesome on the projector, much more "theatrical" than on the big screen TV!
EDIT (August 5) -- My home theater has been a work in progress, but with the addition of a new bar/concession stand, I think it may finally be complete. I added more photos here, since I felt another post on the same page might be a bit much.

I haven't noticed a difference. I am still using optical for sound, until I can afford to get an HK with HDMI.
Unbelievable!

I've just set up some AV stuff. I've kept my old stereo (Arcam A65, P75, CD72 and B&W 601s) and added a Panasonic TX-P42G15, an Apple TV, a Humax Foxsat HDR (upgraded to 2Tb) for Freesat and a PS3 ...
