Is anyone experienced the same bugs with iCal and Address Book with Snow Leopard ?

BUG 1 :
- Exported iCal backup file (.icbu) on Leopard 10.5.8.
(Clean install of Snow Leopard)
- Imported the backup file from iCal on Snow Leopard.
- The progress bar is progressing but never stop.

BUG 2 :
- Exported Address Book backup file (.abbu) on Leopard 10.5.8.
(Clean install of Snow Leopard)
- Imported the backup file in Address Book on Snow Leopard.
- Nothing happens. I needed to restart the application Address Book to see my contacts.

Where can i report these bugs to Apple ?

I have not had a single problem with SL. I am using the 32-bit kernel. I wonder how many of the problems are due to the potentially problematic 64-bit kernel. A bunch of these problems aren't really Snow Leopard at all - many are reporting third-party app problems, but those aren't Snow Leopard problems.

Anyways, I am booting faster, running faster, and shutting down faster. I also have no third party app problems.

All good here.

Haven't had any problems with SL. I have some minor grievances with OS X in general, but those have been around before Leopard, even, so those don't really count.

You should be using SteerMouse http://plentycom.jp/en/steermouse/

Works with 10.6 and has much better control settings.
Gonna do a +1 on this 'cause I didn't realize Steermouse works just fine in SL in 32-bit mode. I mistakenly assumed it was booting in 64-bit mode by default but it's not (at least not on my MP). Had not even tried to install it.

I did the same thing but had no problems.

disc eject?

The very first time I tried to eject a disc, the whole system crashed... I remember the "eject" being something that should have been improved.

Is it an NTFS formatted drive?

No. Fat32. Gets weider, I can move a file from a folder on my desktop to it. But, I have a 16gb file that won't go. When I go into info, it shows I have read/write but am not allowed to change anything. I don't much on command line to do it but guess I can look it up and give it a shot.

4 Finger Trackpad Swipes for Expose.

Bug: Expose and Show Desktop with 4 finger swipes is glitchy. Sometimes it'll keep showing the desktop.

Recreate the bug: do a 4 finger swipe upwards to Show Desktop, and keep your fingers there and then do a 4 finger swipe down.

Locks itself into Show Desktop, and doing a 4 finger swipe down just makes windows appear then disappear. Only way to stop it is to swipe up again.

Anyone having permission issues on external USB drives? I have a 1tb western digital drive and I can't copy anything to it. States permission problem. It won't let me adjust the permissions either.

I have a Western Digital Drive that will not mount.

Edit: Problem was with the drive and not Snow Leopard.

I right there with you

Frankly I hate Snow Leopard at the moment. I have actually pulled out Leopard and am reinstalling in my iMac and going back to it. Safari crashes constantly, my cursor jumps around terribly, and worst of all is EVERY document I try to work with in iWork freezes up the application. I was getting things ready for church and it all froze up. I was sheepish in telling people the Mac gave me an issue as I am always telling people how well they work.

I haven't heard of others having these problems, but after three installs and all the issues, I gave up.

I'm having major issues with quickbooks after installing the new operating system. I'm a bookkeeper and I am very frustrated!!

Did you download the drive manager from their website.

I have found the same thing to be true when I do the four finger swipe down and then back up it will stay in expose mode until i click a window and the same goes for your glitch (atleast in my experience

So far I haven't had too many issues, most of which have been with third party apps.

-Little Snitch needed to be upgraded
-Mail has frozen of sorts once
-Transmission told me it had an upgrade which I did, but broke it so I went back to the previous version which works fine
-handbrake encodes are definitely slower
-as are idvd encodes.

I do find that some programs don't like to open the first time, but after that they're fine.

Overall some things are better, some are worse. I'm not going to downgrade back to leopard, but I'm not going to upgrade work machines until some small things are ironed out (mostly third party apps that need to be brought up to scratch)

You can't put a file more then 2gb on a fat32 partition... That is not a bug.

real expose fail

The button I use for switching between spaces and (when holding the fn key) expose are the same thing which was never an issue when running 10.5 however now in 10.6 I sometimes get this glitch

Just a quick question - are people reporting these bugs/ have a way to report them? Seems it'd be useful to ship them off to Apple.

I've had a few weird bugs happen these past couple days.

For instance, I have a file saved on the desktop. It's a textedit document and sometimes when it autosaves, it creates a separate icon and it'll superimpose itself over another icon.

Last night, I feel asleep watching a movie with quicktime and when I woke up and minimized it, all my desktop icons were scattered.

I've also had the Language Input menu icon appear suddenly.

Just weird little things like that. Overall I'm pretty satisfied. Oh, except the scanner options for my Epson MP210 in Image Capture have DOWNgraded. I used to be able to manually enter DPI but now I only get 300, 600, 1200 DPI. I used to be able to choose how many bits I wanted to make it...now I can't. I used to be able to zoom in on the overview to make sure I get the photo well framed for scanning. Now I can't.

That is kinda frustrating.

SL is smooth and snappy when running in 32 bit mode. but when i boot the system on 64 bit mode, it takes longer time to boot/shutdown when compared to 32 bit and it runs very hot in 64 bit. Most of the applications are slow and they are not smooth in 64 bit mode (I know most of the applications need an update to support SL 64 bit mode), but in 32 bit mode, most of the applications seems faster than leopard. other than that i have not encountered any issues till now

and oh.. by the way.. it broke my printing. i can no longer print using SL on my HP Deskjet D4260.

Although in some areas Snow Leopard is much faster on my Mid 2007 MacBook, on many areas it's also much slower.

I did a clean install and started testing Snow Leopard. Couple of things that made me downgrade back to Leopard (which I also don't really like though, Tiger was a great OS IMO).

- When using dual screens on the MacBook and the MacBook is busy, Exposé and stacks effects will be V-E-R-Y choppy, even worse than Leopard. Overall, graphics performance is really bad with the GMA950 is you ask me.

- QuickTime Player X can't play 720p mkv's smoothly anymore. They will stutter and skip frames. Sound is also way off. Might have something to do with Perian, VLC works fine. I totally forgot to try QuickTime Player 7 in Snow Leopard.

- My MacBook restarted two times when QuickTime X was going to fullscreen mode. No kernel panic, no error, just a reboot. No errors in the logs afterwards.

- I play a game sometimes called Sven Co-op using Steam in CrossOver Games. CrossOver Games does not work properly in Snow Leopard, but once you get it working, the game runs really bad. Could be Snow Leopard's GMA950 performance, could be CrossOver. I'll just wait for an update.

- Major wireless issues, my wireless constantly gives me timeout. I can't reconnect to it either because of the timeouts.

For now, I will stay on Leopard. The box is right behind me so if I need it, it's there for me.

Okay, well I haven't had any issues with CS4; in fact it's been working perfectly since installing SL.

The bugs that I have had are as follows:

Photobooth crashes - weird too, just crashes out of the blue, doesn't seem to hang first or anything

When I plug in mic headphones (the ones that came with an iphone) certain applications becomes hung and will not behave properly until I unplug the headphones.

Once, after dimming the screen all the way and allowing the computer to go to sleep, I was unable to brighten the screen. I got it to wake, just couldn't brighten the screen, I had to restart.

Safari seems inconsistent, sometimes it's quick and smooth, other times it hangs.

When I use MS Word, and I try to print to PDF, the adobe writer opens, a red 1 appears over the dock icon, then it closes without doing anything. I've found that I can use the "save as PDF" function, but then I can't choose to exclude certain pages from the PDF.

The only other issue that I've had is when I use expose some application windows disappear; they also disappear when I use the "Applications Windows" expose.

I sure would like to know what everybody's idea of a "clean install" is? This is not a hypothetical question, I'm really asking. I have a Macbook Pro, a Macbook and an iMac 24". I did a true clean install which involved booting up to the install screen and choosing Disk Utility and fully erasing the hard drives and then proceed with the full install of SL right down the desktop, then I manually installed all my apps back. Not a hitch, not a problem, not a bug on either of my installs. Everything is working perfectly and my animations of Spaces and Dashboard are silky smooth and no problems with Flash.

Aside from the haxies that shouldn't work until the developers update these I think most people that are saying that they are doing a "clean install" are either erasing the hard drive through Disk Utility and then restoring from a Time Machine backup which isn't a clean install. All that does is bring back the baggage from your old Leopard install.

If anyone is doing the upgrade only option and is having great results then they didn't have any baggage from their old Leopard install to corrupt SL. I highly recommend to just do a full erase and install to the desktop and then manually install your major apps and forget these haxies until the developers have updated them for SL.

So you are suggesting that I lose all my user preferences and my data, or that I spend days reintroducing them again in the system? Excuse me, but windows update is better than this. One of the reasons I like Apple is that upgrade is transparent to the user: just erase your disc, install the new operating system and transfer your preferences from your older computer or a Time machine back up. If that does not work, why do they say you can do it?. The flaw is on Apple's side not on the user's side.

Odd. When I follow the steps outlined above, Finder behaves properly - all folders remain open as they should.

Did you watch the video? Perhaps it's only when you have folders within folders? I have just set up folders like this, and it definitely does it:
Folder 1
Folder 2
- Folder 2.1
- Folder 2.2
- - Folder 2.2.1
Folder 3
Folder 4

WACOM tablet, Exposé and moving apps between Spaces...

I am experiencing a bug with my WACOM Bamboo, Exposé and Spaces.

1) Enter Spaces.
2) Engage Exposé to show all open windows. Windows are now neatly arranged to a grid and are labelled.
3) When attempting to drag an app window to another space, the window trails behind the cursor and when opening the new, destination Space all application windows stay in their small preview size, only returning to full size after a number of clicks.

The weird thing is that in every other scenario so far (Adobe apps, Ink) the WACOM has been flawless. No bugs or quirks. Just this weird one with Exposé and Spaces.

A 'Leopard' bug? A driver issue? Hmmm...

While there may be a way to complain directly to Apple they are probably more than aware of this thread and any others and might even be aware of the Glitches entirely and are already working on them.

My (admittedly minor) peet peeve hasn't been fixed where, when selecting one of the System Preferences panes, the window jumps back into its former position if you move it around before the pane has finished loading...

Sounds confusing ? Hopefully the video will help.

Unfortunately I fear that I'm like the only person that's annoyed by this or has even noticed it ?!

EDIT: My other incredibly minor pet peeve has been fixed in Snow Leopard's version of Safari - yay :) !

Two issues so far:

1) In my applications folder, I have them set to display as icon view. I keep getting holes in my list, like what you would see if you trashed an application...blank holes in the listing where it looks like applications were removed. im not sure if im losing applications, i took note of how many i had and it hasnt happened since to compare with.

2) when connected to the 24 inch ACD, when i close the lid for sleep and then reopen it, the unlock screen comes up on the ACD instead of the MBP screen, despite the MBP still being the primary display. once i type the password in though, everything is normal and the mbp display is the primary as it should be. not sure if this is a bug or a change in SL

anyone else?
