UK WebStore Down

Oops, posted this on the wrong thread before - UK Apple WebStore is down - possible updates coming???? Who knows but I'm excited rofl....

They will be 90 nm..otherwise we're all excited about just a modest speedbump..
and all the r&d into the 90nm would be showed to us within another 6 months..not gonna happen.

and the xserve's have reportedly start shipping to 'normal' customers, according to appleinsider.

It certainly is time for PowerMacs to be updated. Hopefully they'll come tomorrow.

Even though I'm happy with my iMac, I must resist the temptation to buy one when they do come out... :p

Duff-Man says....I have no problem getting to the UK store - seems fine and nothing new of course. But there do seem to be a lot of signs from various places that an update is imminent...and my credit card is ready.....oh yeah.

UPDATES+SPECIAL = boosted revenue

Actually think about it - UPDATES PLUS the special - that will boost sales for the quarter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Assuming apple choses to recognize the revenue at the same time the order is placed.

I mean there has to be at least two or three of us that will order tomorrow if the updates are announced tomorrow (23rd)....one fore sure... me!

before the PPC970, we wera all getting excited when Motorolla was providing G4 with 133MHz speed bump...
if we get G5 at 2.4, it will already be a major speed bumpr compare to Moto...
since Apple joined IBM I have the feeling that we are getting more and more demanding...this mgiht be due to the Moto's years of misery...

That makes two of us........Got my Dad's Work Number on Speed Dial.....Just in case it's released once I get home from school.......

Not Steve's Love Child...

I am not Steve Jobs's love child.

I know, I know - we both wear glasses. We both look great in black mock turtlenecks and Gap jeans. We both are charismatic. We both inpire fear and fawning admiration in others. But I am not Steve Jobs's love child.

How can I be so sure without DNA testing, you ask? It's really very simple. Whenever I kicked and screamed and begged and cried and held my breath until I turned blue, those related to me by the everlasting bonds of common kinship would eventually relent and give me the object of my desire. It might have taken days of pleading and whining, but they would always capitulate in the end.

Steve has not. Therefore we are not related. Quod erat demonstrandum.

-- Bill, still waiting for a Rev. B dual G5

P.S. I'm willing to consider adoption...

I will be purchasing my brand new PowerMac as soon as I get home if they are announced tomorrow. But I really hope they will be shipping within days because a 2 month wait would make me quite angry.

and what if it's a paper release? And customers have to wait 2 more months till they see their rev B powermacs?

It's his workmachine, and he has to decide if it's worth to him, waiting 2 more months, working on his old "more slow" machine.

You got it in one...

I don't have the luxury of choosing to cancel the order or not. It has taken three months of careful negotiation and a two page written justification approved by two company Directors to get a Mac signed off for work. The choice is a Dual G5 PowerMac NOW, or the company standard from our preferred supplier - a Dell 2.66 P4. Which would you choose???

Amazon..

If anyone shops Amazon check out their G5 and Cinema Display section. All are marked "Lowest Price of the Season" and there is a instant $100 rebate when a monitor and g5 are purchased together. This is the surest sign that we'll see both G5s and the Display's updated within a week or so. The question is to what?

$200 off if you buy the dual 2.0 and the 23-inch display. Also, the base price of each are reduced by about $100 each - all in all, a $400 savings. Not bad, but the whole point is that I'm waiting for the new ones!

Reason could be that Apple has stopped production of the G5, which means updates with new product numbers. This code is good news. It generally happens when updates are made, or replacements are made. It also likely means that Apple has started to produce the new G5s, which is also good becasue there won't be a long wait for delivery.

Arn knows what that means, he meant if anyone else had heard this to be true. Or at least that how I read it.

lets get this 2.4ghz update overwith so we can start the 3.0ghz rumors.

Meh.

After I order my new Powermacs G5 RevB I will be taking a brief hiatus from MacRumors to play with it. Once I get it I don't think I will have to check MacRumors on the hour. :D

Me too. After I recieve my shiny new PM I won't be back here for a long while, or at least until I'm ready to buy a laptop in a year or so. Hey maybe I'll stop by for some new ipod rumors. :)

I too will probably not check macrumors for a little while as i will be playing with my new PM (once i recieve it). Maybe a little Unreal Tourny and a bunch of photoshop and Quark will feed my hunger, if not there is always playing around with iMovie and iPhoto once i get my library updated to the Mac and then i will have to bust out the iTunes folder and start blasting some tunes. All while possibly folding a new concept to me as i have been running a slow PIII laptop and have been maxing it out for the last few months with photoshop work.

I've got about four video editing projects that are being slowed down because I have to use my school's systems (which crawl and are inconvenient). A top of the line dual PM and a couple of gigs of ram should chew right through them.

That's a no-brainer. Whatever they announce, it won't be that much faster than what you're getting.

Careful with your logic. The critical measure of any speed bump is not the Mhz but rather the PERCENTAGE INCREASE in speed.

Adding 133Mhz to a 667Mhz chip is a 20% boost.

And what do you know -- adding 400Mhz to a 2Ghz chip is also a 20% boost.

Just something to keep in mind...
