Oh look, a bunch of people whining about the design just like they did for the 4, 5 and 6...
I’m trying to see the sense in your comment. Are we supposed to say, 'YAY, it looks crap, good work Jony. Let’s all get one.’ ?
How many items of clothing/hardware did YOU think looked awful but still bought and praised?

Based on its research, Feld & Volk believes that both the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus may include a dual-lens camera, contradicting several other claims that the camera will be unique to the larger iPhone 7 Plus.

This is all I care about. Woohoo! Please be true.

Looks far better than the iPhone 6/6s since it got rid of the antenna breaks, but I really hope this is fake. I'd like somewhat of a redesign more than another "S" model for the next 2 years.
I'm expecting a major redesign next year, for the tenth anniversary iPhone.

Just because they've done an "S" model every other year a total of four (4) times, doesn't mean they'll stick to that pattern forever.

So does this smart connector explain how one would use headphones and charge at the same time somehow??

Yeah that's what I'm thinking, we get new EarPods that use the Lightning port while the phone charges via the Smart Connector. This might also mean the charger uses a Mag Safe connection which would be nice...

I tend to think its less likely we will see a total redesign like we typically do on the new number cycle, It seems we are in for another 2 years of a iPhone 6/6S looking phone and that does disappoint me, And sadly now seeing a mock up (fake or not) shows how bland the back will look without the bands everyone hates so much, very uninspiring.

If the image quality of the phone is amazing, and that the hump is the ONLY way to get that, then all is forgiven. Capabilities trump aesthetics.

Try that with those who want more battery inside the phone.
Try that with those who want quality headphones to just plug into a universal, ubiquitous jack instead of some kind of dongle hanging out of the Lightning port.
Etc.

I wish what you said was true, rather than just selectively (and subjectively) true.

Other than the camera it looks like an iPod touch. So all metal phones are ugly now? I thought other rumors said the camera would be flush so who knows if this is legit.

One of the reasons for this stagnation is the praise that Ivy has received. He had a few good designs but is now too conservative with the designs so as to not rock the boat. Unfortunately, Tim is too concerned with PR and the stock price to risk naming a new individual to lead the design team.

Sorry for this simple question... but why they keep doing a thinner iPhone that has terrible camera bump? I do prefer a thicker iPhone (maybe 1-2 mm thicker) but without this camera bump and maybe a better battery (and even a more solid iPhone)
Is it a terrible request? Am I the only one that is looking for this?

Marco

Because "thinner" is the single, MOST IMPORTANT "benefit" that Apple puts at the top of the list of what is needed in the next __________. It doesn't matter if pretty much none of us consumers want thinner, nor does it matter if the cost of it requires ejecting utility like more battery to external devices (to be purchased separately of course). All that matters is that everything must get thinner.

Eventually, any battery inside will be too much for this goal and iPhone (approx) 12 will ship without any battery at all. Then, the guts themselves will be too much for "thinner" so they will have to get ejected to an external device sold separately too. Etc.

By approx. iPhone 14, Apple will be able to ship an empty box sold at current iPhone pricing and we will then buy all of the parts that actually make an iPhone separately. At that point, "thinner" will have achieved "invisible", needing additional purchases to be able to actually see something that looks like an iPhone.;)

Any talk about how much ram the 7 will have? 2GB? 3GB? <-- hopes! Looking forward to not having to reload apps every time I go to take a picture or open too many tabs.

it looks huge, just like the plus is now. I was really hoping they'd reduce the overall size while keeping the screen size. So disappointed if this ends up being it. Come on Apple....you can do better

How do they reduce the overall size with the home button and Touch ID? Not sure the tech is there to get rid of the home button yet.

What would not be conservative? Going back to an all glass back? Then people would complain about it shattering when they drop it. Plus Apple has already done all glass back phones. Really what else is there to do besides Aluminum, glass or plastic?

Is the iPod touch uninspiring? Was the HTC One M7 uninspiring? Both of those are basically slabs of silver aluminum.

What worries me is the footprint of these leaks. It's roughly the same size as today's iPhone 6/6 Plus, no? That implies Apple has not shrinked the bezels, if we can assume screen sizes are kept to 4.7 and 5.5 inches. Which is very disappointing, considering the 6 and 6 Plus are already huge (bigger than many Android phones with bigger screens).

Apple seem to only focus on making them thinner, which should be their last priority.

Yes the Nintendo R.O.B.

Every since I started to read mac rumors, I realized how much of a failure Apple really is. Just visit the threads of the 4, 4s, 5, 5s, 6, 6s. All of them design failures and pathetic products.

No wonder Apple is closing doors next week. Right? /s

It's amazing how renders never do justice to iPhones. Then we put them side by side with the competition, and it is pretty clear that the superior finish and quality is always there. Just look at the port alignment of some of their competitors. Not that it matters, the iPhone is "the" flagship device.
