Even if it's a real, it's a super low quality pic of what would likely be a production prototype. Real or fake, I actually like the way it looks. I like the shape around the lenses and the black over the glass. If it's real, I wonder if it's an ND filter of sorts.

More importantly, I care about what the camera can do. This dual-lens camera technology is another potential game changer and big step forward for mobile photography and video.

My first thought is: That camera lens looks very vulnerable. The current cameras have such small lenses that the odds of a direct hit in the direction that could damage it are small. However, with that big area, you are doing two things: increasing the likelihood of an impact and increasing the torque applied to the lens. There are reasons actual cameras protect the lenses.

The phone is the refrigerator and the camera is the toaster. All that's missing is a battery bump on the back.

Why are those ugly antenna bands still there? Now they just shifted them to the top. They are still hideous looking.

Sorry for this simple question... but why they keep doing a thinner iPhone that has terrible camera bump? I do prefer a thicker iPhone (maybe 1-2 mm thicker) but without this camera bump and maybe a better battery (and even a more solid iPhone)
Is it a terrible request? Am I the only one that is looking for this?

Marco
No you are not, however see how during the iPhone 6 introduction people were having an orgasms because the phone is thinner - Apple may be tapping into some subconscious need people have.

I would much prefer a 2-5 day battery life which could be achieved with last year casing and A10 processor but that's unlikely.

All I will say is I once had to remove my phone from its case to clean it and was struck by just how thin and light it was without the case. So much less bulky and more easier to hold and use with one hand. I was firmly in your camp but I see now how thinness is really a compelling attribute. And yet no iPhone has been advertised as having lesser overall battery life than its predecessors despite achieving thinner dimensions.

I think Apple thinks that simply making the phone's body thicker seems like an awfully lazy way to envision a product. They'd rather focus on hardware and software optimizations as much as they can before submitting to a bigger, heavier, hotter battery.

Anecdotally, I'm consistently achieving 11/12 hours on my 6s, which I can spread across two days. Whereas the rest of my Korean family are dedicated Samsung users and yet are often underwhelmed and frustrated by their phone's battery life.

How do they reduce the overall size with the home button and Touch ID? Not sure the tech is there to get rid of the home button yet.

What would not be conservative? Going back to an all glass back? Then people would complain about it shattering when they drop it. Plus Apple has already done all glass back phones. Really what else is there to do besides Aluminum, glass or plastic?
Make home button more pill shaped (s7 like) and problem solved.

Yea that is ugly. God damn just make the lens area and he phones backing flush and put in a huge battery. But I guess that could kill the hump case sales...

In the same way I don't like any of the Android phones with large protruding camera's, I think Apple is going the wrong direction on keeping the camera hump so that they can make the rest of the body thinner (if images like this are what is indeed coming).

Others have stated this, that going thinner, at this point in the evolution of the iPhone, seems to be counter to offering a better looking / designed phone AND one with more battery power. If they kept the phone thick enough to make the camera flush, battery life could be expanded, especially as Apple continues to make their chips more energy efficient, but also expands capabilities which eat more power.

Another option, would be to make the top and bottom portion of the back of the iPhone thicker, tapering to a thinner center section. They could place all the main chips in the top and bottom, including the camera module, then have just the battery and screen in the middle section - sort of a reverse of how an old fashioned cordless home phone or corded handset looks. The thinner middle section would fit in the palm of your hand easier if it were thinner, although aesthetically it wouldn't have that solid billet-like build.

1. Home button is not really needed in itself, and touch ID can be implemented in various other ways; Behind the screen or on the back, for example.

2. Even if the home button must stay (it does not), you can still shrink the bezels at the top, which is used for nothing but to create symmetry today.

Worst photoshop ever. You can tell it's a fake since it's poor quality. How do you even take photos that poor in 2016?

Looks fake, must be real.

... or is it, looks real must be fake?

Very intrigued by the dual lens tech, the constant improvements to phone cameras are fantastic, and so welcome to folks like us who have pretty abandoned carrying an additional camera, but shoot lots of photos (i.e., have children :D)

I think the antenna bands are better. But wow, the camera looks so dumb. “It’s the smartest camera we have ever made. It’s so smart, we had to ‘dumb down’ its appearance.”
